Chapter 6: Centenary Killing [I] (2)

Translator: 安贝-Peggyan

As a result, the mortals won, for the crowd strategy worked magic. Some wizards with the power that was not pure began to feel exhausted, and many of the knights and the Orc Clan had died in groups. With the strong power, the mortals clamored there. Consequentially, their arrows brutally killed many other divine spirits again. I was even shot on my back with the blood streaming down.

The huge Snow Swirl I generated couldn't work out like before and lost its precision and killing power confronted with the steel swords of the mortals. The divine spirits were circled by the mortals again.

"Your Majesty, what should we do?" My people were still being killed in groups. I seemed to be my father. What should I do? Well, we had a King, so did they.

Attired in an imperial golden robe, I flew over the crowd and saw the King of the mortals who was on a dragon with his spear full of blood just like my hands.

I landed before him with my Snow Swirl stilling rotating.

I couldn't see his face, for he had his back toward me and said nothing.

"You are the King of the mortals?"

"You are the King of the divine spirits?"

"Why did you declare war at us?"

"Because I want to know if I am more powerful than you." When he turned around, my Snow Swirl stopped rotating instantly first and then rotated even more fiercely. The wind caused by it passed through the whole earth and the ongoing war.

His side face made him look like Xiao Rang very much!

"Who are you?" I tried my best to hold back the impatience coming from the bottom of my heart.

"Do you already forget I'm the King of the mortals. Do you come here to ask some questions you've already known the answers? Do you see the most beautiful lady of the Elf Clan of your side? I've told you she's mine and I'll mount war to snatch her."

"She's mine. How can you take her away from me?"

Bang! Bang! Bang! The ice stabbed him like sharp sabers.

"When does your attack become so weak?"

He stood still all the time. The dragon lazily used his tail to block the ice that seemed non-existential.

"Ice Phoenix!" A splendid huge phoenix came out of my hands with its wings capable of covering the sky.

"Your Majesty, you're calling up Ice Phoenix!" shouted the divine spirits beneath me.

The lazy dragon opened its eyes wide and looked at the phoenix blankly. Seated on the back of the phoenix, I conjured my wand up, and all the snow started gathering and came into being in my hands.

The King of the mortals burst into laughter.

"Now, You look like a real King!"

He clapped the dragon on its back. With a roar, the dragon unfolded its wings that were as big as my phoenix's and soared into the sky.

"Your Majesty..." shouted all the mortals beneath us with their weapons held high.

We were in the midair above the place bordering on the two sides. The dragon covered half of the sky with its body while my phoenix that I gave all my spiritual power to at the same size as it gave off a breath of coldness.

"Come on, the King of the divine spirits. Let's find out which of us is more powerful?"

The dragon was exhaling while the phoenix was roaring, making people deafening.

I rushed at him with a huge snowball in my hands while he threw his huge spear at me, causing the air around him to explode with a Bang.

However, I could only see darkness the next second.

When I opened my eyes again, I saw a pale blue light curtain.

"Shadow, why did I come back?"

"You don't need to see the following scenes."

"Why?"

"Because you don't need to know this at the present."

"But, I want to know."

"Your Highness, I'll be part of you forever. When your power gets there, I'll tell you everything."

"Okay, promise?"

"Promise."

"Your Highness, that's not the end of you, but a start. As long as you continue your journey, you'll know what you want to know naturally. You'll be the King eventually. You can be nothing but the King," said Shadow in my heart.

I felt transfixed.

I found something familiar in Shadow. I suddenly thought of the lady I had unexpectedly glimpsed in the army. Was she one of the Elf Clan? She should be my mother. I saw many greedy people with saliva in their mouths hurtle toward the Elf Clan but were beaten off by the clan with their outstanding wizardry.

I felt relieved no seeing Xiao Rang when I got out the "dream". The King of the mortals in my dream looked like Xiao Rang very much, which made me feel scared.

"Your Highness, you come out." I saw a tall man bend his knees before me. Beside him was that heavy knight's spear. The armor he wore was worn-out. He had long hair as black as ink.

When I was about to reply to him, I found myself much taller than before, which was not because he knelt down in front of me. I instantly conjured a mirror up on which I saw my white hair. My face was like my father, and my outline looked like the lady of the Elf Clan. My shoulders turned wide and hard. My hands became big that was more befitting to cast the wizardry. As I waved my hands randomly, I saw the pure power flow along my arms and a huge firework explode in the sky.

The man said as he still knelt down, "Your Highness, you come out."

"You are Xiao Rang?"

"Yes, I am, Your Highness."

"Xiao Rang, I'm the King."

"I know, Your Highness." Xiao Rang raised his head, and then I saw his bright eyes like stars.

"Your Highness, you're the King, Leng Xi." Xiao Rang tightly held the huge heavy black knight's spear.

"Xiao Rang, let's go to the mortal world."

"Yes, Your Highness."

After that, I immediately turned around and witnessed what was going on. The battlefield started falling apart; the earth stained by blood cracked; the red flames coming out of the ground melted the snow; giant birds flew over the sky, flew past the earth surface, and skyrocketed to the sky with a roar. I still seemed to hear the sorrowful screams of the mortals and see the tears of the divine spirits. They didn't know why the war broke out and what they fought for.

Unfortunately, their souls were left here forever without being reincarnated.

War.

I didn't look back, neither did Xiao Rang. He just felt that the space behind him fell apart and was sucked into the past that was as powerful as a black hole. Everything was brought back to normal. There was not bloody ground, endless sadness, or the boundlessly dismayed song sung by Xiao Rang.

There was nothing left but the endless whiteness.

It was already 100 years later when we entered the mortal world.

The mortal world-

As soon as we set foot on the mortal world, a gush of heat wave came to us. When I turned my right hand upside down, the surrounding temperature cooled off promptly. I had never seen such big sun and experienced such high temperature on the snowland where there were only frozen fog and heavy snow mantling the sky. The snow there was so heavy that it could easily bury all stories, emotions, and looks. Perhaps, it had buried more than those.

"Your Highness, I'll be here with you."

Xiao Rang stopped me and said, "Your Highness, I'll be here with forever. Don't be sad." I turned around to see him. His eyes became strangely bright, even brighter than the shining sunshine above us. If it was evening, I would compare his eyes to the blazing stars.

"I know you'll always be here. Let's go."

War also broke out in the mortal world but was more miserable. The divine spirits could kill anyone they wanted but was rather difficult to kill one of their own. The history had proven that if the vital part of a divine spirit wasn't injured, the divine spirit was hard to kill. By contrary, the mortals were vulnerable, even weaker than the snow of the snowland. However, they killed each other, treating the lives of each other like nothing.

When we arrived in the mortal world, one kingdom fought against another kingdom. In other words, that was the war between the King of Kingdom Liang and the King of Kingdom Wei. The moment we stepped out the snowland, we saw countless bodies before us. Numberless people were shouting and fighting just like the war happening on the snowland. The arrival of us didn't affect them at all.

Xiao Rang and I stood in situ. By coincidence, we happened to appear at the center of the battlefield, so innumerable arrows and spears threw at us. When I cast my wizardry, those sharps weapons were frozen by the moister in the air. Besides, the spears and swords thrown by the people around us were all swept back by Xiao Rang with his knight's spear and pierced through their chests, causing the blood to burst out. Dead silence instantly reigned the center of the battlefield.

"Let's go."

"Yes, Your Highness," said Xiao Rang in a muffled voice.

They unexpectedly called off the battle! Having judged and weighed the situation, both advisers of the two sides decided to call it off. I wasn't surprised at that, and I didn't need to feel surprised at all. I just wanted to get out of here with Xiao Rang, making room for them to fight.

The vast battlefield where there was a greatly fierce fight just now became empty promptly with only those broken arrows and spears left behind. Xiao Rang and I continued walking forward on the muddy ground full of blood that could not stain my robe and Xiao Rang's armor.
