THE COR TOWER

ASHA YSMIR LEONA COR

The last week in the tower has been hectic, it was hard enough taking care of ourselves, but with 2 million plus vampires living around and with us, things have been a little hard, but not impossible. Kael and his blue blob like clone have been working none stop for the past thirteen days. Their efficiency in unsealing vampires has not dropped, and instead improved.

But Kael has only taken a break four times in these thirteen days, and each time not more than two hours at a stretch. Even for a vampire, he was pushing the limits of what his body can handle, but I can't blame him, or stop him either cause he's not listening to me.

But due to his efforts, two hundred unsealed vampires from both the bloodline Covens, and the normal vampires, were being trained to get used to their natural and rightful heritage.

For many of them, at a percentage of almost 98%, this was a whole new world to them. The feeling and experience of being powerful and in control of your own life was beyond amazing, and it was drawing more and more vampires here.

They may not believe in something as abstract as freedom, but they all wanted power, and a chance to live their lives without fear. It didn't matter anymore what kind of person, or what kind of ambition my husband had anymore, all that mattered was that following him, meant that you become stronger.

Xaseah and I have been inevitably thrust into the roles of interim leaders due to Kael's otherwise preoccupied state. It was nothing new to me, but I had to take on a whole different role than what I was used to. I did not have to be the wife of their leader, I had to be their mother.

[Asha are you sure this plan is a good one. Don't you think it's a little early to actually build a school. Our resources are finite, and I'm almost out of creation energy.]

"I understand your concern Nefisat, but don't think of it as just a school, that's a long term plan. Instead think of it as a daycare center. Now that there are quite a lot of adult vampires around, it would be better to let the children stay in a safe environment, and learn.

Unlike Kodak, Gus, and Teluna who have been forced into a position where they had to fight, these other kids have not experienced that life yet. This will give them a chance to have a childhood, and that way their parents can be focused on working hard for the coven."

[I understand what you mean Asha, but except for soul energy, the rapid development for the last week, especially with Malek directing some of them from the lab has exhausted quite a lot of essences. Building a school now would be quite impossible.]

"Well Nefisat is there any immediate solution to it, a lasting one would be preferable, but we're on the clock. This is a crucial time for us, and we can't afford to slow down. Kael's counting on us."

[I know that, he's like my father you know. I want him to be proud of me. Malek's really intelligent, so I spoke to him and he had some pretty interesting ideas. Within a distance of a thousand meters in either direction, especially when you round up that distance into a big circle, there are 15 origin earth towers. For the next few days, I'll be assimilating and deconstructing them all. By the time I'm done, I should have enough earth, wood, and metal essences, and enough creation energy to last us for a very long time. Besides, Malek says the newly created space would enable him to draft up construction plans for a proper town, or city. And with my expanded awareness, we would be able to build anything within that given area.]

I was surprised. While it did take Malek a longer time than Farina to get settled in, he took to Nefisat like a fish took to water. She could make anything he wanted, as long as he gave proper specifications.

In no time at all, he had actually set up a functional lab, and while the equipment in it, were outdated according to modern standards, seeing as Malek built it with Nefisat, relying on records and blueprints from before the war and the vampires imprisonment.

The lab was functional enough, that Malek already drafted up plans for a proper transport vehicle than the old rickety mining cart. He was also conducting alchemical experiments that would give some fruits blood like properties.

It would solve a lot of problems for the vampires, especially with other races who have inevitably been food sources to us for millennia.

If we can grow our own food, the world won't think we're just monsters who want to feed on them.

Malek is brilliant, he just needed someone or an opportunity that would allow him to exercise that brilliance. But I didn't trust him, especially with how close he's gotten with Nefisat. Kael gave him primary user privileges as a show of faith, but I know vampires, especially for one who has lived as long as Malek has.

Every opportunity taken is just a bid for more power, and I know that elders, especially the great elders of the council, did not like the idea of answering to someone other than themselves. Of course I could just be paranoid, but I'm not taking any chances, not with my baby's father.

"Nefisat please be careful, and remember to keep some secrets between yourself and your master. Don't trust anybody but him, do you understand?"

[Come on, what do you think I am? Stupid? I may be three and a half weeks old, but I assure you I'm very smart. No one's going to take advantage of me, believe they won't. Not if they want to die!]

Her words towards the end were rather cold and chilling, nothing like the joyful Nefisat I've come to know and love, too bad she's only a voice. But with that kind of mind set, I'm sure she'll be safe. We're all getting stronger and smarter, and it's only a matter of time before she's more than strong enough to protect herself.

Well I guess I could only raise the idea of a school the after Nefisat was done assimilating the remaining towers around, but with the idea of a school out of the way for now, I had to put my attention on something else.

All of a sudden I felt a sharp pain in my stomach, the feeling was blindingly painful that I almost passed out, I felt as if someone had put hooks into my stomach and was trying to drag me on the ground tethered to that same hook. I couldn't breath, and I could hear Nefisat calling for help.

I felt myself hunch over, and before I could fall to the ground, Asare and Varsessa were there to help me, with their arms around me I felt the strength leave my body, as my vision went dark. But even as I passed out, I could hear the fearful whispers that kept slipping out of my lips.

"My baby!"

I shot up with a scream, scared beyond all measures as I clutched at my stomach in fear and hysteric panic.

For a moment I had no idea where I was, it was only after I settled down a bit that I realized that I was in the penthouse. The sheer beauty of the penthouse that has captivated me since Nefisat completed construction on it, was completely negligible as my mind was beset by a kind of fear I've never felt before.

Horror seeped into my bones as the thought of losing my baby shook me to the core. The doors to the penthouse bedroom opened, and Xaseah and Kuyait walked in, followed closely by Farina.

The looks on their face could not be read, and even Xaseah had closed off our connection through our bond. I was scared, and couldn't help but assume the worse considering Farina had followed them here.

At this point I was ready to run off, I was getting hysteric until Kuyait sped up to my side and held my hands in hers, giving me a wide smile that looked more like a harbinger of bad news, rather than a comforting gesture.

"You need to rest Lady Asha, your babies are fine." She said to me.

After she finished speaking, I was so relieved that I couldn't help but start crying, bawling my eyes and heart out until Xaseah was sitting on the bed behind me, and had me wrapped in her arms like a baby.

Her presence was the most comforting to me, her scent and the feeling of her toned body behind mine was like a pillar or rock that could help me weather any storm. It took me fifteen minutes to calm down before it dawned on me what Kuyait had just said to me.

"Wait! You said babies? You said babies right?"

I asked with shock and quite a little bit of hope and excitement in my voice. Kuyait nodded her head. I was dumbfounded, it was completely inconceivable, I was having twins! It was at this point that Farina came close enough as she began speaking.

"You experienced that intense pain because their growths were accelerated. The seal that was placed on you before had suppressed their development, and might even have caused hidden defects or injuries to them. After the seal was released they were healing and growing slowly and safely.

But recent events, have been too exciting for you, so a number of factors came into play concerning your pregnancy. First of all; your children are dhamphir, half human half vampires and should have been born by now considering human babies only need nine months to develop.

They have been inside you for almost if not more than a year and half, way past the normal time required for carrying children like them. Secondly, do you realize how rare and difficult it is for an elder to get pregnant?

In fact it's supposed to be easier for us considering we have a new functional heart, and are somewhat alive. But it's next to impossible for an elder to have children, and in the recorded history of vampires, you're the fourth person to do so.

The strain of the pregnancy is quite difficult for you, but you've been running around throwing curses like they were simple words! You're completely reckless, and as a mother I'm disappointed in you!"

I was surprised by the slew of information. I wondered how they found out all this during the time I was unconscious, and I was also surprised that I was getting scolded by Farina.

She's been known to never get angry about anything regardless of who upset her, seems like I crossed a line. And it doesn't seem like she was done explaining things.

"Thirdly your babies are growing at an accelerated rate, the pain you felt today is nothing compared to what's coming in the future. By my estimate they will born in under five months, or less. Every ounce of energy you have right now, you have to channel it to helping them grow better and stronger. Your babies are special.

Twins among the children of the first night, much less vampires are so rare it only happens once every ten to twenty thousand years. For the vampires alive right now, twins are nothing but a myth, because they've not been born ever since the vampire race fell and was imprisoned here.

The power they carry is not just from their vampire genes or the kind of bloodline their father possesses, your children will be more than nobles, but also a symbol of the vampire race's resurrection. They won't be coming for your husband anymore Asha, they'll be coming for your children. Because if history has taught us anything, vampire twins, are powerful, disgustingly so.

Because they draw power from each other just as they draw power from the way, and because of who their parents are, your children are not going to be normal in the conventional sense as other vampire twins have been measured. You need to get ready."
