Chapter 26: Attolis’ Secret (1)
“Alright, let us go.” Kailar whispered perfunctorily. He’d already gathered the intel needed and staying any longer or battling with King Kong was futile with only Gawain and Attolis beside him.
Attolis who steeled her nerves priori was barely holding on. She quickly nodded her head obediently and slowly retreated.
“Run!”
While backing away, Kailar’s face suddenly changed and he screamed loudly
Gawain could no longer conceal the panic coursing throughout his body. He let out a frightful scream which in turn caused the half devil beast horse a fright. It galloped around frantically.
The hybrid horses and unicorn were frightened to death, their bodies trembling. They could no longer withhold the fear bubbling in their hearts resulting in them neighing wildly about.
Despite their increased speed in retreating, there was a loud bellowing roar from behind. It was the giant ape. The earth trembled from the rage of King Kong. The three animals neighed loudly and retreated as fast as they could, quickly galloping towards the forest’s exit.
King Kong continued to follow them from behind. Perhaps it thought the three humans came to violate its territory or possibly it had yet eaten and the humans seemed like a delicious prey. Whatever it may be, it was chasing after them angrily.
“Damn it!” Gawain’s horse galloped wildly and his whole body seemed on the brink of falling off.
Attolis fared no better. The half devil beast horse wasn’t accustomed to the rough terrains of the forest hence lagging far behind the unicorn.
“You two go first!” Gritting his teeth, Kailar suddenly patted the unicorn’s nape. It quickly turned around and ran towards the giant ape.
Despite the fright exuding from the little unicorn, scared out of its wits, it still rushed towards King Kong as it believed in the command of its master and his comforting smell.
“Hey, Kai!” Gawain yelled.
“Damn it!” Attolis was more decisive and yanked on the reins, intent on going back.
At this moment, Gawain and Attolis saw a scenic view they’d never forget for the rest of their lifetime.
Kailar was quickly nearing the giant ape.
King Kong wasn’t slow to react. Upon seeing the puny ant dare rush towards itself, it was all the more ready to crush the puny ant to a pulp. King Kong raised its giant arms high above the sky and smashed the puny ant down like a hammer.
Kailar assured himself the force of the blow was by no means less than the blow of a cannonball at point plan range, but regardless, his bones and muscle creaked from the terrifying pressure.
Kailar wasn’t surprised.
“Protect!” A white shield propped into existence and quickly blocked the hammering blow. Though a success, the shield formed a concave dent.
“Reflect!” The shield immediately bounced back, transmitting the full force of the giant ape’s hammering blow back to it. It forced King Kong to fall back onto its behind.
“Go back! Go! Go!”
Kailar looked at Attolis who turned around with means to help him. He gave the little unicorn a sharp pat on the neck and it quickly shot forwards.
On the way, Kailar grabbed Attolis and threw her behind the back of his unicorn. He knew the giant ape was targeting them, not the half devil beast horse.
Despite carrying the weight of two persons, the devil beast unicorn flew ever so fast, managing to catch up to Gawain.
“Speed!” Kailar echoed a loud cry and Gawain’s half devil beast was given a speed boost as it darted towards the forest exit.
