Chapter 004: Merlin

Leyton tied the horses down around a tree with a rope long enough which allowed the horses to run and play freely in the forest. Thereafter, Leyton untied a thick rope and it quickly flew above the skies. Leyton quickly grabbed the rope so it wouldn’t go all the way up. While this happened, a large basket fell from the sky and landed on the green moss.

“Leyton, if you would.” Kailar stepped onto the huge basket and nodded a signal to his protector.

Leyton smiled faintly and pulled the rope down, his muscles bulging. Slowly, the basket rose higher and higher like an elevator.

The idea was thought and planned out by none other than Kailar himself. At the age of two, he managed to seduce the kingdom’s skilled craftsmen to weave a huge basket using his tender and puerile appearance. Kailar watched the makings of the basket carefully, making sure all was precisely detailed. Then he arranged the craftsmen to create a rope thick enough to carry the weights of several persons combined that it wouldn’t break.

Everything near the vicinity with the sole exception of nature itself was created solely by him.

This was his talent. How can a man who was skilled in the arts of chess not have this sort of insight?

The choice of the tree however was accidental and would have been picked inevitably due to its visibly towering height.

After a minute, the basked stopped moving, indicating that Kailar had reached the top.

Ah… this is really convenient.

Kailar stepped out of the basket carefully. The height from above to the bottom was over two hundred meters high. If he was careless and fell off the edge, his bones would surely shatter into pieces.

In his past life, Kailar had spent the entirety of his life in a wheelchair. Given a second chance at life, he thought he should cherish this new life of his dearly.

Laid before him was a small refined and exquisite treehouse.

The vines coiled around the walls and roof of the treehouse. Kailar smiled. He liked the view and how the treehouse camouflaged itself. It brought a tinge of freshness.

The sun passed through the dense foliage and shone on several pots of sunflowers. In return, the sunflower beamed, welcoming the return of its master.

“Ah… it’s been so long. Without a doubt, this place is much more comfortable than the castle.” Kailar stretched out his hands. Living in the castle, he put on a perfect persona as the genius son of Andrea Ettorek.

It suffocated him almost.

Don’t think about it!

Here, Kailar could remove the facade he so easily created. Here, he could be himself.

“Okay, so next is…” Kailar stripped of his aristocratic clothing till he was only wearing a pair of shorts.

Kailar faced the morning sun and sat on the wooden floor cross-legged.

His limbs were like a snake as he twisted his body awkwardly. Though it looked uncomfortable, Kailar didn’t feel any pain for he’d done this sort of thing quite regularly.

After twisting his body to the point of impossible, Kailar breathed a sigh of comfort and slowly stretched his muscles before returning to a normal position.

If the peoples of this world knew the sort of horrific benefits the exercise he had just done, they’d lose their minds. What he had just done earlier was exercise the will, fluidity, strength, improved vitality and energy, and circulatory health of his body.

This was the power of yoga.

Those who knew the benefits yoga provided stated that if one doesn’t practice yoga, they’ll turn to a vegetable, never reaching the peak of human life.

And what better than to start at the youngest of age! The bones of a child are at its softest and thus are easier to acclimate to yoga.

Kailar had no plans of sitting on the wheelchair anytime soon nor in the future and thus was naturally inclined to exercise his body. Though he had no plans of becoming a burly jock full of muscles like his father, he couldn’t tolerate being a weakly scholar. Therefore, he practiced the way of yoga, a form of exercise that he had studied in detail in his past life.

He couldn’t practice martial arts training. His bones haven’t fully developed lest he wished to charge straight to death. Yoga was the most viable and safest option he could think of.

After a set of yoga exercises, Kailar breathed deeply and walked through the open corridors and into the treehouse.

Inside the small treehouse were lined with rolls of sheepskin scrolls and shelves of books. Underneath the bookshelves was a small little exotic woodworking objects Kailar had been working on.

Kailar picked up a sheepskin scroll on the last row and walked to a small desk. After sitting down, he grabbed a quilt, dipped in into an ink, and began to write.

The contents of the sheepskin scroll were written in Chinese characters.

If someone managed to understand the foreign letters, they’d be horrifically amazed at the child’s mind. The sheepskin scroll was titled “On the Possibilities of Building an Artificial Canal In Red Leaf Kingdom”.

Thousands of words written on the scroll described the pros and cons of an artificial canal on the nearby wetlands, grassland, and such. It also described the possibility of linking the Red Leaf Mountain after the construction of the artificial canal.

“Hehe…” A soft gentle laugh echoed and Kailar jumped straight out of the chair, knocking over the half bottle of ink and dying his sleeve in the process.

But that’s not the point of focus. The point of Kailar’s focus was that laughter.

Kailar straightened his body and looked at the area where heard the laugh and saw a suspicious figure with a dark cloak.

The woman found the interior of the place exquisitely amazing and Kailar could not stop his eyes from looking at the exquisite figure hidden with a cloak.

“Who are you? How did you get here? Is it Leyton?” Kailar stepped back at least two or three meters away from the cloaked figure. He was a pinch away from grabbing the dagger concealed in his boots.

Looking at the cloaked figure with a vigilant look, Kailar’s mind turned quickly.

The cloaked figure shouldn’t have any other methods of coming to this place other than the huge basket. So long as Leyton was around, he’d never allow a stranger come to this place. After all, Leyton was a knight with good gentleman demeanor and he’d never allow any sort of danger encroach the young lord. Kailar believed in his loyalty.

So where could have this woman come from?!

Kailar needed to maintain a vigilant attitude when dealing with the strange woman.

“Oh, this is a really interesting place for a kid.” The cloaked figure bent down and picked up a wooden object the shape of a carriage. “Is this thing a carriage? What can it be used for?”

“It can maximize the horse’s power and efficiency. With that, the horse can carry more goods.” Kailar replied with means of stalling the time as his mind calculated various possibilities.

“That’s interesting.” The cloaked figure responded.

“Who are you? What are your intentions?” Kailar hissed.

“It looks like my presence makes you somewhat uneasy, little guy. So how about this, I’ll introduce myself to you.” The cloaked figure replied sincerely. “My name is Merlin.”

“A magician…”

“Yes, a magician.”
