The pair made themselves comfortable in Su Lian's large living room. Although she was very rich and they both held ordinary jobs, she didn't discriminate. She had been friends with them for a few months before she met Chris and became the Managing Director of his company. At that time she had just moved to America and worked as a cashier at a convenience store owned by a nice Korean couple.
After watching two more movies and finishing the chicken noodle soup, Su Yichen fell asleep. Su Lian carried him upstairs and tucked him in bed before returning downstairs.
She told Jane and Alice about the meeting she had the previous day and how she had been nominated to be the interim president of the company's branch in China. They listened with rapt attention and bewildered expressions on their faces.
"So you're going to back to China?" Jane asked with uncertainty.
"I haven't decided yet. I really don't want to though."
"It's only temporary, right? Then you'll be fine."
"That's not the problem."
"It's him, isn't it? You're afraid of meeting Yichen's father."
"I-I."
"What are the odds of you meeting him again. It's been four years. It's a very big world you know."
"If you turn this down, you're just going to give those old bones in the company a reason to stir up trouble," Alice says while stuffing ice cream in her mouth.
The two went off, giving Su Lian their two sense and she realized that they were right.
Chris had made her the managing director and although she had performed extremely well, leaving no room for complaints, some people were still unsatisfied. They criticized Chris for being biased in his decision. Taking the position would be a chance for her to prove herself and show that Chris wasn't wrong in making her the company's managing director.
And as for Han Yuan...
She had just been paranoid, China was a very large country, she might not even see him. Even if she did see him, she would reign in her emotions and be sure not to expose them. Most importantly, she will make sure he doesn't find out about their son. She does not want to be further entangled with that man.
It would also be a good idea for Su Yichen to meet her brother and some of her old friends. With the thought of seeing her brother again, Su Lian got excited. She had missed him a lot.
"Fine then, I've decided, I'll take the position."
"I'm going back to China."
