The three carriages move forward and joined the other big and small carriages in the wide main road. After awhile, the two carriages moved towards the other direction while the first carriage continued straight.
Shuang slightly opened the window of the carriage as she peeked through the people outside and observed the big City. Southern City is the biggest city among the four big cities in the Ming Empire. The main road was bustling with a crowd of locals and travelers but it's still not that very crowded. People were walking on both sidewalks while the carriages were running slowly but steadily in the center of the road. Travelers and locals who were out of the city will go in the entrance gate while those who were leaving will go in the exit gate on the other side of road. The infrastructure of the buildings were mostly two storeys up to five storeys high.
The carriage slowly left the main road and entered another gate that was fully guarded. Above the gate, was black wooden placard that has a golden words written on it. 'Southern City Lord's Prefecture'. The place was big with various building inside. The buildings were distanced away from each other.
They arrived in front of the Lord's Mansion. In the entrance, were a lined up people standing at the entrance and were lead by two persons in a simple but elegant dresses.
Xuyin open the door of the carriage and Gu Jingshen step down followed by Uncle Jiang.
The woman in her late thirties immediately approached Gu Jingshen.
"Shen'er!" The woman in green cried as she hugged the young man. "Thank goodness your back and safe!"
"Mother, I'm back!" Gu Jingshen smiled as he gently tapped the woman's back.
"Big brother!" The young girl in a yellow dress at the woman's side, greeted as well.
"Shen'er, how's your trip? " Xiao Liling asked her son with anticipation.
Gu Jingshen let out a sighed before he said,
"Mother, I-I bring someone."
Shuang slowly get down from the carriage while Xuyin assisted her. The people suddenly sucked in their breath the moment they looked into that hypnotizing obsidian eyes.
"Mother, this is ---" Gu Jingshen can't finished his words because the ladies in front of him were no longer there.
"Aiya! Welcome to our residence! What's your name? This is the first time my son brought a girl in our home! I know my son is a little bit unruly and stubborn but he is a good and a loving child. I hope you will give him your understanding and patience..." Xiao Liling eagerly received and assisted the speechless Ren Shuang.
"Right, right! I will be your back up if he do something bad! And I will shoo away those annoying flies for you sister!" Gu Jiaolian happily chirped in as well.
