Qing Bo looked up and saw Ten and Tora. He contemplated, it's been a very long time since the someone from the earthen tribe came to the annual winter banquet.

Long before Jin even existed, the earthen tribesmen lived in seclusion. The desert where they lived was the border between the central land and the northern land. The people of the northern land were nomads.

Unlike the people from the central land who had inky black hair and phoenix black eyes. The people from the northern land had almond-shaped brown eyes and brown hair. They were great fighters, horse riders, and hunters.

The earthen people were their descendants who settled in the desert. Some of them, including their last king, however, married to the people who came from the central land when Jin Ning, the previous Jin Emperor, ruled.

The secluded earthen people who long lived in the desert decided to open up with the kingdom of Jin when Jin Ning befriended their king.

The northern desert was a very weird place because, despite being a desert, it was located on the colder, north part of the land. The desert had many ruins. Legend said that the desert emerged because of the same power that destroyed the ancient Kirin Kingdom.

Not all of the northern people were friendly like the earthen people. When Jin Ning ruled, there was a group of nomads that killed and plundered the villages that were located on the north side of the empire.

Because of the chaos, the people who live in the northern border fled everywhere. Jin Ning even went there himself to handle the situation.

While he was fighting on the frontline, he commanded his people to explore the mysterious desert in attempt to search for the missing villagers. There, his men got lost in the ruin's labyrinth until the earthen tribesmen found them and brought them to their king.

Their language was similar to other northern people's language, so one of the men in Jin Ning's assigned team could communicate with them. The king of the tribesmen was shocked when they told him that Jin Ning went to the battlefield himself. He thought that the rulers of the central land's empires were cowards who hid behind their men when something bad happened. The king admired Jin Ning for being brave in handling the terrifying and cruel group.

He became interested in Jin Ning and decided to get out of the desert and joined the war.

The gruesome group was very scary, but they were all defeated when the earthen tribe made traps under their feet and cut their number by half.

Jin Ning was awed by the earthen tribesmen's ability, he was awed enough that he proposed an alliance with them.

The king who already had a good impression of him immediately agreed to the alliance. That's how the secluded earthen tribe started to open up.

After going with the king to their home, Jin Ning found out that the king took in the missing villagers in after identifying that one of the village women was someone who had helped him when the king—who was then still a prince—ventured out of the desert. The woman could speak their language so she asked for their children's help when she saw them playing outside the ruins. That young woman then became Terra and Ten's mother. She died when she birthed Ten and the king died not long after her. Now, the ruler of the desert was Ten's grandmother, with Terra as the princess and queen in training.

Even though Jin Ning and the king had died, the earthen tribe still helped the Jin Empire by protecting their northern border. But they only did that in the name of the king and Jin Ning's friendship.

The earthen tribe didn't just absent from sending people to the banquet, they also almost stopped contacting the empire ever since Jin Ning's death and Jin Lan's disappearance. For them to even send their prince and that guy, Qing Bo wondered what made them come here.

"Were they here just because of Jin Lan?" That answer was the most likely. Hu Zi who was by his side, tilted her head, wondering what Qing Bo was talking about.

The empress who was near them knew what he was talking about. At first, she wanted to ask the earthen tribe's help to give Jin Lan a shelter. But then, she thought that it might not be a good idea to do so.

She wanted Jin Lan to stay in Jin, but she wanted to keep him safe too. The empress brought her red fan up and sighed, she looked at Hu Zi, wishing that the two of them would meet soon. She hoped that Hu Zi would grow to like Jin Lan and befriend him at the least. Although someone from the Hu family liking an imperial family member was unlikely.

Knowing that the emperor coveted the Hu family's land, the empress could predict the amount of hatred Hu Zi had for the imperial family. But, by now, Hu Zi should've been told about who Jin Lan was by the people around her if not, she might not come to this party.

Because the maids and servants were replaced by Jin Min's order under the emperor's wish. The empress didn't catch the news about the dragon tattoo man that killed the whole Hu family, so she wasn't calculating anything unordinary.

She wondered where Jin Lan was. She silently glanced left and right, silently screening over the people who had arrived once again.

Jin Tao caught a glimpse of her eyes movement, he wondered who his mother was looking after.

Suddenly, the servant announced an arrival.

"His Majesty the Emperor and his consort, Concubine Yue!"
