Inside the white hospital hallway, Ji An ran together alongside the nurse and doctors in Emergency Room, to bring Min Young to operation room. The hospital smelt of disinfectant and blood. White colored wall spread across the hospital building. There were sounds of doctor shouting for epinephrine, kids crying and family wailing for the lost of their loved ones.
All these noise could not reach Ji An. She could only look inside restlessly, waiting for the doctor to come out and give her good news. "Min Young-ssi, please stay alive. Please, please." Ji An clutched both her hands together till her knuckles and all her fingers turned white. She felt she need to do something, but her mind went blank. She did not know what to do and what to start. Feeling dire, she could only call for help.
"Hello, Song Ho Oppa."
"Oh, Ji An-ah. What's up?" Ahn Song Ho was still busy in his office. Editing a few of articles that had been sent to him from his junior reporter. The deadline was tonight and he would need to perfect it and arrange the layout. He used one to pick up Ji An's phone call, while his other hand and eyes were busy skimming and put comments on the article.
"Oppa, can come over? I am at the hospital."
"You, what?! Hospital? Which one?" Song Ho sent his completed work to the layout team, and the rest of pending item was sent to one of his staff for final review. He immediately stood up, grabbed his coat and car key with anxious face,"Which hospital? Are you okay?"
"I am at Song Kook University Hospital. Yes, I am okay."
"Hang in there, okay? I am coming." Song Ho ran towards the office building car park, started the engine and drove as fast as he could towards hospital.
Emergency Room - Song Kook University Hospital
"Ji An-ah" Song Ho kept calling Ji An's name repeatedly and scrambled opening each of the curtain to find Ji An. Ji An told him that she was okay, but he wouldn't feel rest assured until he checked it himself. His commotion causing a few nurses to come and stop him from creating more ruckus inside the ER. The emergency room had been chaotic to begin with and Song Ho rabid action did not help.
His shouting could be heard from the hallway, directing to operation room. Ji An, who heard about the ruckus, came running towards the ER area.
"Oppa?" Song Ho, who finally heard Ji An's voice, stopped creating a scene and ran towards her. His hands ran up and down and stopped at the bloody area near Ji An's stomach.
"Ji An-ah. Hurry, let's find doctor. Why are you running around?" Not in his correct state of mind, Song Ho held Ji An's hand and already in the move of looking for one stand-by doctor. Anyone that could save his Ji An.
"Oppa! This is not my blood. Calm down! Come here." Half embarrassed and half touched by his attention, Ji An dragged him out from emergency room and apologized to the nurses and doctors inside ER quickly. They both finally seated at the waiting area outside the operation room.
"Ji An, you really okay? Are you sure?" Still unconvinced, Song Ho kept pestering Ji An with the same question over and over again. He needed reassurance from her straight and after he himself, confirming condition with his own eyes.
"Yes, Oppa. Don't worry. I have no scar, I am okay." Ji An showed her arms and faces, all to Song Ho. Although it looked dirty, but he found no scratch or traces of blood on Ji An.
Finally feeling relieved, Song Ho could feel the fear that clawing inside his heart slowly dissipating. "What are you doing here then? With blood covering all your clothes. Whose blood is that?"
"Oppa, listen to me okay. This is not my blood. It is Kang Min Young. I met her by coincidence when I wanted to stalk Congressman Park condo. I saw her running out asking for help, and I helped her to run! We managed to outrun whoever is chasing her and hid behind a dustbin. I asked her to run away first before I followed behind. Suddenly, a black sedan sped up and hit her. I suspect it's the same people who is chasing her."
Ji Am smoothly explained the incident summary with the proper timeline, with of course covering a few details. For once, she didn't know how to explain about her appearance in Jun's apartment and secondly how she know the guy was under Congressman Park's order would be difficult to explain to Song Ho Oppa. "Me!" Ji An quickly stood up, anxiously moving her legs, inching closer to the doctor.
"What's your relation with the patient?"
"I have no relation with her. I found her during accident and brought her over to hospital. Doctor, how's Min Young?"
The doctor just exhaled,"We are sorry. We have done our best, but she lost too much blood and her ribs has punctured her internal organs causing internal bleeding. I am sorry for your loss, we need to contact her relatives to arrange the necessary."
Ji An lost both energy and her legs and fell down. She was too shocked.
"Ji An!" Song Ho quickly caught her body before she injured herself even more.
"Oh no, Oppa. Poor Min Young." Ji An cried, sobbing between Song Ho's gentle hug.
She was crying for a stranger, for the injustice she suffered and for the pain she had gone through.
