Kitty's steps faltered only after a few steps, as she realized she wasn't sure where she was. She hadn't ventured this far from her tree before. Looking around, she didn't see the pile of rocks where she liked to sun herself in the delicious sunbeams, nor the river where she occasionally caught frogs and fish.

Looking in the direction the dog had headed off towards, she considered following him. After much thought, that lasted approximately 1 minute and 27 seconds, she decided to follow and see if she could get any of her snake back. She had killed it after all, and as far as she knew, snake was the most delicious thing out there.

It wasn't hard catching up to the white figure, he was having trouble dragging the snake as it was longer than he was. Making sure to stay well back, so he didn't see her, she followed him through the trees. After a while, she noticed the light coming from one of the structures ahead, and slowed down even more.

With her heart pounding, she slunk closer, and saw that there was a wide-open space between the edges of the trees and the closest structure. The dog didn't seem to mind, and left the safety of the trees. As he plopped down near one, she watched as he gleefully began chewing on the tail of the snake.

Wrinkling her nose, she couldn't understand why he would start at the tail. Remembering the eerie eyes of the snake, she suddenly changed her mind. The tail was a wonderful place to start.

Movement near one of the other structures caught her eye, and a four-legged animal came into sight. While much shorter than the cows that guarded the fields, it was still plenty big enough to cause her trouble if it wanted to. She wasn't too concerned about it though, because the same metal stuff that kept the cows in the field, kept this new creature near the structure. In fact, the fence ran all the way up to the trees where she hid. She hadn't paid much attention to the fencing before, because it didn't impede her movements any, but as she examined this fencing, she realized she would have to climb it, or fly over it, to get past it, because it had too tight of a weave for her to fit through.

Kitty followed the fencing, several hundred feet, until it ended, heading back towards the structure with the shorter four-legged creature. A shadow came running at her, startling her into a quick sprint up the nearest tree. Turning to see what was chasing her, she was surprised to see an animal just like her, sitting at the base of the tree, licking its front paw as if it hadn't been chasing her after all.

Excitement coursed through her. She hadn't realized just how lonely she had been, until she found someone else like herself.

"Hello?" she asked tentatively, hoping the response was kind.

With a jolt at her voice, the cat darted back the way it had come, and she realized in horror, it had no wings. What had happened to it???

Jumping from her perch in the tree, she glided towards the structure the cat had disappeared to, and landed softly next to a small hole in the fence. She hesitated before going any further. What if the monster that had maimed that poor creature was inside?

She could tell, based on the many smells that assaulted her nose, that there were many different animals that lived here. She couldn't understand why they would all live in a place that stunk so bad, but that was what they had decided. Maybe they all lived here for protection? Or this was where the food was?

Sitting near the hole in the fence, she was assaulted with so many questions and emotions, she didn't know what to do. Finally, she decided to climb the fence, rather than enter by the hole, and began to explore the place.

Kitty had seen birds hollow out spaces in trees enough times, to know a built structure when she saw one. This place did not grow here. After a few moments of thought, she remembered the tall creatures that had pounded poles into the ground, and wondered if they were the ones who had built this, as it had the same smell of metal as the poles.

From her perch on top of the fence, she had a very good vantage point of the entire structure. It consisted of six hollow spaces. The furthest space from herself, was where the cat had run off to, because she could see it sitting on a shelf, watching her. The four-legged creature had two others like itself, wandering throughout three of the hollows. The fifth hollow had a large amount of scented grass, that honestly smelled really good to her, but she didn't want to jump down and investigate it yet.

The last hollow had fencing blocking it off completely, but she wasn't sure why. The weave on it was so much tighter than the other fencing, she wasn't sure she could even get a hand inside it. Jumping down to investigate it further, she spied several birds that were trapped inside the hollow. Licking her lips, she could only imagine how long it would take her to catch one or two. If she could only figure out how to get inside…

"Baaaa!"

Kitty screamed and jumped into the air, flapping her wings like crazy until she was on top of the structure. She could hear the four-legged creature that had snuck up on her take off running, not stopping until it was on the other side of the building. The birds had also gone crazy, flying all over the place and sending feathers flying.

A door opened on the structure that had light, and she crouched as close to the roof of the building as she could. The red furred, two-legged creature appeared, carrying a long stick. If she could have disappeared right then, she would have. If only there was some place to hide, but she was afraid that if she moved, he would spot her, so she remained as still as she could.
