"I put that test for you to find out about them because I hoped that Happle could be as effective as me in hiding their identity from the world. Of course, in that, you failed. You couldn't find them.

"Due to this, I decided to leave, but you changed that decision, because you showed me what kind of person you are. And as for why I decreased the deadline, it's because my cancer is getting worse. Yes, cancer. It is sad that no matter how much money we have, some diseases just don't care. This is also the reason why I have no choice but to leave my son in your hands. Keep him safe, and don't let him be affected by my life. That is all I ask. And you, William, you better give a raise to this incredible employee that you have. If it weren't for her, your plan would have been dead in the water by now. If I had someone as empathetic as her in my employ, I would value her a lot."

Liz only smiled at this and look down, so she didn't notice the CEO nod while keeping his eyes on her.

Her mind which had gone into a frantic state before when she had run into the room was finally calming down, and she realized that she really had saved the day.

As for the news that this man had cancer, she felt sad, but she had already guessed that something was wrong with him.

Either he must've had a disease, or he might have had some sort of threat to his life which led him to want to trust Happle with the responsibility of his son.

Yet, what still puzzled her was the fact that she was supposed to be the one who took the decision about his life.

"Mr. Xander, I understand your reasoning, but the CEO would definitely be capable enough of taking care of your son –"

"No. It must be you, or the deal is off. Remember, I'm trusting you with this, and I promise you that I, or someone, will always be watching. I'm only doing this because I have full trust in my ability to judge someone."

Clearly, there was no room for argument.

After he said so, someone knocked on the door in response to which the CEO himself stood up to open it.

Taking the papers that were handed to him, he placed them on the table and signed before giving it to Liz.

As he did so, he didn't say anything but only nodded, letting her know that this was the right thing to do.

Everything was happening so fast, but Liz understood that right now, this sign was needed if they wanted to go forward with their plan of getting back at those despicable people.

Of course, the little fact that she had also called the man in front of her despicable escaped her mind while she took the pen and signed.

However, she didn't realize that the words of the previous Head of Sylvex had already had an effect on her.

"Good. Now, I'll take my leave. You don't need to worry about anything right now, but before my death, I will be sending over the information about my son. Like you must already have gathered, I need him to go to the US where everything he needs will be taken care of. Remember, little missy, I'll be watching. But for now, goodbye."

After checking the documents, Xander stood up and left the room.

In his wake, there was only silence, as even the CEO was trying to come to terms with the fact that his PA had just saved the day.

As he turned to look at her in order to say something, he saw that the silence had also evoked the memories inside Liz which had been controlled before because the time hadn't been right to be affected by them.

Indeed, everything she had bottled up before had burst inside Liz because of this brief moment that she had just had to herself.

These memories were something that she had buried deep, deep within her mind, but she had had no choice but to dig them up to handle the situation before.

"Can I go to my room?", she asked, making the CEO nod and watch as Liz ran out with the tears streaming down her cheeks.
