Carmi looked up after a long time, she noticed the snow on the ground and the white falling from the sky.
The surrounding turned dark and surprisingly, Kyler did not look for her.
She glanced at her wristwatch and learned that she's out for almost three hours and many of the employees had gone home at this hour.
After tidying herself and mirrored from the company's window, she looked at her puffy red eyes and her face stained with tears. She looked horrible. Her face was in total mess so she hurried back to the building. Carmi was not wearing much make up but the foundation she used was not a water-proof and it smudged all over her face, she needed to wash it out.
Her bag was still in her office and as much as she did not want to go back, she had no choice. She alighted the elevator leading to the top floor where her office and Kyler located.
She hastily walked towards her office and her heels produced a clack clack sound along the floor. Before she could open her office door, Kyler walked out from his office and looked at her with a blank expression.
As if he did not have the recollection of their kiss earlier.
"Where have you been?" Kyler's voice rang as the corridors were all empty. Carmi could not help but flinch as she stared at her boss with so much fear. Her chest heaved as her breathing became rapid.
She knew that Kyler is angry and she thought it would be her last day.
So many thoughts came in to her mind and then she blacked out.
Kyler was so worried when he could not reach her during this almost three hours. He could not reach her phone when he called her.
He checked her office and found out that she's not in there.
Kyler called the ground floor to know if Carmi had passed there and luckily, the receptionist answered him positively.
He never thought that he could inflict such fear in Carmi's bones; to the point that the woman would faint in front of him.
He suddenly felt guilty on kissing her.
Before Carmi fell on the ground, he caught her with his strong arms and he swiftly carried her back to his own office and he walked straight to his own resting room.
He gently placed the unconcious Carmi on the bed and undid the buttons of her blouse so that she could breathe easily.
His actions were swift and he left her in the blink of an eye. He started to feel hot when he stared at the woman's pinkish white skin. So before he could do something that he might regret in this lifetime, he walked out from the room and sat on his table pondering over things.
He knew that the woman is naïve and innocent. She did not have any awareness of how beautiful she is and how dangerous she could get.
Kyler sighed and thought about his grandfather's wish. The old man wanted him to get married before he die. The old man will not last any longer because his prostate cancer is in its late stages.
He knew it but he could not betray his heart that ached for over 20 years. And the hate he carried through out all this time could not be easily forgotten.
He wanted to know the truth but then his grandfather told him to ask Lyndon about it. His pride did not allow him to do so and no matter what kind of investigation he did, he could not get the right answer to his questions.
That evening, the moon hang loosely on the skies lighting up the dim night. Kyler smoked as many cigarettes he can but the worries he had seemed not to subside.
He walked towards the room as he wanted to shower and retire for the night. He grabbed the paper bag that was resting at the top of his table.
He walked towards his room and remembered that Carmi was in there lying in his bed, unconscious.
He twisted the doorknob with care not to wake her up and tip toed towards the bathroom. He finally sighed relief after he got in.
Carmi was still sleeping and he showered without any problem.
His body was soaked with bubbles from the soap and was about to rinse it off when the door of the bathroom flung open and then Carmi walked in half-asleep.
Her eyes squinted with the sudden change of lighting as she pulled up her skirt to remove it. She wanted to urinate and did not know that she walked in the wolf's den without her knowing.
The shower handle fell on to the tiled floor and it woke Carmi. She stared at the shower handle on the floor and noticed a pair of feet not so far from it.
Then her eyes trailed up to the limbs and then to the bubbles that was popping and something beneath it.
Her eyes bulged and gulped saliva...
Then she recalled that she fainted infront of her boss.
She looked at the man with an utmost shock.
"S...sir?" Carmi uttered as the man walked towards her and emitted a dangerous aura.
