"If your not a level ten then how come you weren't able to beat that Hag?" I ask, that didn't add up. If he was apart of an organization I couldn't believe that he wouldn't be able to kill her.

"I've had my levels sealed, I came to this world because I know someone in the town," he pointed towards the city," that can unseal them for me."

I gave him a funny look but decided that it would be pointless to push him to tell me any more. I was just thankful he hadn't killed me when we first met. I'd been a weak level one. It would probably be safe to assume that he had the appraisal skill, to see other people's levels.

"Let's head on down," he quickly grabbed my arm and picked me up princess style," hold on tight." With that, he jumped off the edge of the cliff.

We free fell down the side of the mountain peak that we'd been standing on. It happened so fast I didn't even have time to process what exactly was happening.

Tears involuntarily were streaming out of my eyes as we continued the freefall. At the speed that we were falling, I knew that we'd end up like smooshed flat pancakes if we hit the ground.

My arm tightened around his neck drawing him closer to me. He'd better have some way to get us out of this situation, or else I'd haunt his ghost!

I had no desire to die because this asshole wanted to free fall from the damn mountainside.

"WHY ARE WE DOING THIS?!" I screamed over the roaring sound of the wind that battered my body, it blew my hair back and made me feel like I was having my face ripped off.

It took a great deal of effort but I turned my head to look at the blurring landscape that surrounded us. A gripping feeling of free entered my mind and body.

The ground rapidly approached us or rather we're rapidly approaching it. Turning my head I glanced at him. But he didn't seem to have a care in the world as we approached the ground. His face was as still as a pond, it was like the wind wasn't even affecting him.

All of the sudden a loud roar sounded it snapped me from my thoughts. Looking upwards, where the sound had come from, a huge bird was overhead it was like it had appeared out of nowhere. I couldn't see any other birds, it was the only one but it was so huge it seemed to blot out the sky above us.

It gave another loud cry, that had me wincing from the volume.

It's huge talons circled around us like we were a fish. However, it was very delicate and caught us without trouble. With another loud cry, its wings that had been angled downwards flew on trying to catch the wind. It gigantic wings easily catch an updraft, skyrocketing us upwards. Tactfully avoiding the ground, I felt my heart hammering against my rib cage once the wind had quieted down.

Once the freefall had ended I felt a wave of calm wash over my body. Although, I was a little uncertain about the huge magnificent golden bird that was carrying up through the air. Its whole body was the size of a small plane.

The golden and brown feathers it sported glowed when the light hit the feathers just right, it would let out little cries every so often as it drifted towards the huge town. Turning my attention back towards Haru, I give him a questioning look.

"This is my familiar, she's a Roc, her name is Phyllis. She'll give us a ride to the front gate," he explained as he looks up at the huge golden bird.

Where had he been keeping her? Looking back towards the mountain peak that we're quickly moving away from, I don't see my familiar. Where had it gone?

After a minute of quick flite, we start to land. Once we're about a foot off from the ground, Phyllis releases us from her claws. Haru lands easily, and the giant bird bends down and starts to shrink before it starts to sink into his skin.

Feather, claws and all were easily absorbed into his body. It all happened in a quick few seconds, but the massive bird is gone and under his skin. His features didn't reveal any discomfort after just absorbing the gigantic bird into his body.

I raise an eyebrow at the whole spectacle, was that even physically possible? But then was anything that was happening to me humanly possible?

"Here comes you're familiar," he chuckles placing me down on the ground. Turning to look in the direction his head, I notice a streak of white, gold and cyan light speeding towards us.

As it starts to slow down, I can make out Ceryneian. Coming to a slow trot, it stops in front of me. A tense look on it pretty face. Turning its head it gives a snort at Haru, before pressing its head into my chest.

"How did you get here so fast?" I ask cradling its head in my arms. I couldn't tell if it was a girl or a boy, so I wasn't sure on a name to give it. It looked up at me with its limpid cyan eyes.

"I'm a creature born of a myth concerning speed, it was said that I could run faster than an arrow shot from a bow. In reality, I'm even faster than that, much faster," its voice rang in my head as it stuck its tongue out and licked my face.

"Are you a girl or a boy?" I ask it.

"Female," she states simply as she raises her head and locks eyes with me.

"I'll call you Callista," I say softly as I rub behind her ears. At the same time, a brilliant flash of white and gold illuminated my hand and a pretty bracelet appears on my wrist that has an antler charm hanging from it.

"What this?" I ask.

"It's a physical form of our agreement as contracted familiar, now that you've given me a name. You can store me in the bracelet, and no matter where you are I'll be able to find you," Callista replies nudging the bracelet with her nose.

I give it another glance, before nodding my head. It looks like she wouldn't be resting in my skin like Haru's familiar, I was actually really relieved that; that wasn't the case for my familiar.

"Are you two done now?" Haru's voice sounds and I look at him.

It wasn't till then that I noticed that we're standing in front of the huge town, a giant gate stood between us and the city, the door was slightly ajar. However, only enough for people to filter through. The gate itself was made out of a shiny black material, while the wall it was connected to was made out of white bricks.

There are a couple people standing outside the gate, with a miniature table set up. A small line of people stood waiting their turn patiently. There was the quiet buzz of people talking as they waited, other than that I could also hear the sound of music and talking from behind the gate.
