Chapter 892 Warden
The Immortal Pharaoh was the first boss with Divine Power that players would encounter in the Tower of Remorse. It was precisely because it had Divine Power that it could deal so damage to Li Yi, even though he was using the Thunder God’s Protection.
Divine Power was head and shoulders over all other power. The Thunder God’s Protection was only a Beginner-level Divine Spell, whereas the Immortal Pharaoh used real Divine Power.
Aside from Divine Power, the Immortal Pharaoh could also use the power of a Territory Field. It could easily compress and disrupt space at rapid speeds. If a player was not aware of its skills, they were very likely to lose in their first encounter with it.

As the Immortal Pharaoh’s hands moved, the space within the tower began to distort, cracks appearing everywhere. The space pushed and pulled, changing shapes, and the Divine Power embedded in it caused Li Yi’s health to drop continuously. In an instant, he had lost another 500,000 HP.
With his Hall of Fame Equipment Set equipped, Li Yi now had over 2 million HP, as much as a powerful main tank. He was still powerless in the face of Divine Power, though, for one very simple reason. When Divine Power dealt damage, it reduced one’s ax HP as well. If Li Yi’s max HP fell by more than 1.5 million, regular HP potions would not be able to heal him.
“Smack! Smack! Smack! Smack! Smack!”
Li Yi fired some rapid shots. Although he could not deal any fatal damage to the Immortal Pharaoh, he could still reduce its Divine Power.
The only way to get anything accomplished with the Immortal Pharaoh, players had to first use up all of its Divine Power.
“Mm-hmm, perhaps I should not have shown you mercy.”
As Li Yi shot at it continuously, the Immortal Pharaoh’s body flickered with red light, and the damage figures above its head suddenly increased.
It had run out of Divine Power.

Without its Divine Power, the Immortal Pharaoh could not reduce the damage it took anymore. Both Dolly and Li Yi could now deal 100% of their usual damage to it.

The Immortal Pharaoh stretched out its arms directly in front of it, and Dolly instantly became an egg again. [−1] damage figures kept popping out from above Li Yi’s head. Suddenly, it was no threat to him any longer.
The tables had completely turned. Now, Li Yi’s Thunder God Protection could suppress the Immortal Pharaoh completely.
Now that he had the Ascension Quest, even boss battles were getting easier. After that, there was no longer any doubt about how things would end. Even though the Immortal Pharaoh transformed thrice, it still ended up dead and frustrated at Li Yi’s feet.
There were no rewards for clearing the stage, and the red-robed warden did not show up either. Since he had cleared this floor, there was no need to make a record of the floor.
Beginning from the 91st floor up to the 100th floor, a boss would randomly appear on every floor. Like the Immortal Pharaoh, each of these bosses could use Divine Power to a certain extent.
As the Death God’s strongest, every single one of them had the ability to fight against gods during the Ancient God Wars.
However, their Divine Power was limited, and they tended to run out quite quickly. In comparison, Li Yi’s Thunder God Protection had no such limitations. As long as he did not leave the tower, he would remain in that state.
Li Yi cleared the 92nd floor to the 99th floor in much the same way. Although the bosses were very strong, with the Thunder God’s Protection and the Supreme Vignette Mirror to aid him, none of the bosses posed a challenge to him. He bulldozed them all.
At 1.20 am, Li Yi walked into the Tower of Remorse’s 100th floor.
Jiaojiao, Qian’er, Fire Ice, Xu Yue, and Xu Man were all by his side. They stared at the external screen and savored that rare sight.
The girls even opened a bottle of red wine and drank as they remarked about Li Yi’s in-game performance. It made Li Yi very uncomfortable, as though he was completely naked and up for display.
“Come on, could you guys lower your volumes?”
“If you don’t wanna hear us, just use the Total Silence Mode.”
“F*ck, as if you won’t ambush me.”
“Tsk, as if I wanna touch you.”
His negotiations with Jiaojiao broke down, so Li Yi had no choice but to compromise…

It was the Tower of Remorse’s warden, Mephisto, the Death God’s spokesperson and the second strongest person inside the Tower of Remorse. If the player wanted to meet the Death God, they would first have to defeat Mephisto.
“Kekkekkekke, fascinating human! To think you could make it all the way here. However… did you really think you have cleared the Tower of Remorse? No, far from it! At least, you have to defeat me before you may meet my lord, the Death God…”
Mephisto stretched its arms open wide and slowly descended to the floor, waiting for Li Yi to make the first move.

Li Yi could not run down Mephisto’s Divine Power as he had with the previous bosses, because Mephisto could automatically regain its Divine Power in the middle of battle.
The only way to defeat Mephisto was to force it to use up all of its Divine Power at once, and then attack it with full force while it was recovering its Divine Power.
Li Yi continued to summon Dolly. Although she died as soon as she appeared, she was still pretty useful as the battle stretched on.
Legendary Pets did not have a level cap. Li Yi was now at Level 200, so he was all maxed out, but Dolly was not. She could continue leveling up, and her only limit was that she could not go ten levels higher than her master.
Dolly flew up behind Mephisto and drew her Small Bow, launching an attack. “Smack smack!”
It was fortunate that Li Yi could use the Arrow Crafting Skill, because there was no way he could keep up with Dolly’s demand otherwise.
Mephisto stayed still, and the two little arrows went right through its body, missing it completely.
“A cursed descendant of the Winged Ones? Heh, how fascinating indeed…”
Mephisto raised its arms slightly and a huge whirlwind appeared in mid-air, raining down a constant hail of darkness that attacked the floor indiscriminately.
“Dark Meteor!”
Li Yi lowered his head and watched the shadows on the floor. He then shuffled left and right, avoiding the bullets of darkness.
If he looked up and try and follow the darkness, he would be easily blindsided. That was why his best chance was to look at the shadows on the ground and judge them according to size, evading them quickly.
“Smack! Smack! Smack! Smack!”
The dark hail crashed into the ground and even created a ripple of shockwaves. He had to evade this too, because if he was ever caught by it, he would fall under its Dark Binding.
Mephisto’s attacks came with Divine Power, so while Li Yi’s Territory was powerful, it was still inferior to the peerless Divine Power.
The first segment was simple. All he had to do was evade the Dark Meteor and he would be fine.
Jiaojiao pouted. “Tsk-tsk, look at that fancy footwork.”
Fire Ice’s eyes were practically sparkling, her expression devout. “The Guild Master is amazing!”
“Come on, come on, drink up! Last one to drain is a rotten egg.”
Qian’er was not paying any attention to him at all. She was competing with the superstar sisters to see who could drink more, and they had long since cleared the first bottle. Now they were on to the second one.
“Who’s afraid of you! Cheers!” Xu Man’s face was cherry red, but she drained her cup defiantly anyway.

In order to prevent himself from getting distracted, Li Yi switched to Total Silence Mode. This mode allowed him to block out all outside sound, so forget the girls’ rowdy drinking, he would not hear a thing even if the sky came down outside.
Dark Meteor lasted for more than two minutes before it began to weaken. In the meantime, Dolly had turned into an egg twice already.
“Accept the judgment of death!”
Mephisto raised one hand above its head and then pointed it down at Li Yi.
A flash of black lightning descended from the sky, crashing toward Li Yi.
Li Yi rolled away and dodged it. Immediately after that, a second bolt of black lightning came down, and Li Yi dashed forward, escaping without a scratch once again.
“Crack!”

The black lightning kept coming. Li Yi ducked left and right, and when he had nowhere else to go, he used Teleport. With that, he dodged fifteen of Mephisto’s lightning bolts before it finally stopped and looked at Li Yi in surprise.

“Smack smack!”
Just then, Dolly resurrected again and shot a Chain Arrow Skill at Mephisto.
“Pfft! Pfft!”
The arrows found their target, but no damage figures appeared above Mephisto’s head, not even the bare minimum of 1 damage point.
“Barroom! Barroom!”
There were two loud booms and the whirlwind in the sky suddenly began to roil. Lightning seemed to flash in it until Mephisto raised its hands up high and brought three bolts of lightning down at Dolly in a triangular formation.
“Crack!”
“Psshh—”
With just that one hit, Dolly became an egg again…
Mephisto raised its hands up high, and this time, its target was Li Yi.
Three bolts of lightning in a triangular formation came down, with an attack range of 30 yards. If one wanted to escape, they had to prepare several seconds in advance.
The previous lightning was nothing. This was the hard part.
Li Yi put all of his attention into the battle, running or jumping or teleporting. He managed to reach safety every time just before the lightning could come down.
This was the hardest segment. Forget getting hit by lightning, if even the shockwaves from the lightning hitting the ground managed to clip a player, the damage they sustained would be fatal.
Of course, that was not the most important part. If it was a party challenging Mephisto here, anyone who got hit by the lightning would be the culprit to blame for the party’s annihilation.
In order to use up Mephisto’s Divine Power quickly, the only way was to not get hit by the black lightning. Only then would Mephisto continue to cast the lightning. As soon as anyone was hit, it would stop using lightning and change to something else. If that happened, it would gradually recover its Divine Power, forming a near-infinite loop.
Avoid the lightning at all costs. This was the most basic requirement for defeating Mephisto!
“Five, five, five! Six, six, six! Oh, it’s eight. You’re so silly… Come on, drink up.”
While Li Yi was completely preoccupied with the game, the five girls sat together and played drinking games.
They had long since finished the second bottle of wine. Now, they were drinking… the fourth bottle!
