or the few days following, I spent all of them taking Huang Shulang and the others on a motorcycle to the Ancestral Bridge. Leading up to 30 days before New Year, I informed everyone seeking a cure for their rheumatism of this news.

“Today is the last day, and I won’t ever come back in the future. Don’t bother bringing anyone else over.”

Everyone felt very regretful regretful at hearing this. Some of them wanted to bring their relatives over, but didn’t think I would be willing to cure them.

The amount of money I made could be calculated by anyone. Everyday I earned 20-30 thousand Yuan, and I set up shop here for 5 days, so I’ve earned at least 100,000 Yuan. There aren’t many shops in this town that can earn this much money. If I set up shop here long term, although I won’t have such good business everyday, I’ll definitely be able to earn quite a bit of money after a year.

However, for me, the money I’ve earned so far is more than enough. Even if I leave now, Grandpa will also have more than enough money.

Thirty days later, I took all the money earned and gave it to Grandpa, but Grandpa refused to accept it.

“When Teacher Lin was leaving, she told me that in the future I shouldn’t allow you to stay holed up in this small village. You should leave the countryside, for a far larger world.” As he said this, Grandpa’s lips slightly trembled. Grandpa was reluctant to let me go.

“In the future, I’ll stay with Grandpa in Bajiao Village.” I then shoved a piece of dry pine branch into the stove, allowing it to burn.

“You may be able to say all of this, but your heart can’t lie. Although Grandpa is old and his vision is worsening, he is still clear-headed.” Grandpa laughingly patted my hand, and continued speaking. “You’ve been in such a rush to earn money lately. Isn’t it because you’re worried for Grandpa? Grandpa is just worried that if you go see the world at such a young age, you’ll be cheated by others. Unfortunately your parents don’t care for you, otherwise I’d be rest assured, leaving you in their hands.”

    “I won’t go to Guangdong.” I stated.

“Then where will you go? To Teacher Lin? Teacher Lin is just a girl who is still in the middle of studying, and is still relying on her family, so she’s not an option. Just study diligently and then go to her in the future.” Grandpa said.

“I’m not leaving. I’m going to stay at home to accompany Grandpa.” My eyes started to look bewildered, and the sparkling flame in the stove became blurry in my eyes. I felt like an eagle who wished to fly, but didn’t know where he’d fly to.

Grandpa let out a sigh and went to his room. I put out the stove fire and tiptoed into Grandpa’s room to put the money I earned at the foot of his bed.

I then returned to my room. But while lying on my bed, I was unable to fall asleep. Outside, the sound of the firecrackers from other families rang out, setting a festive atmosphere within the village out in the countryside. However, my house was dead silent. Even though we had plenty of fireworks and firecrackers, I had no interest in setting them off.

In the middle of the darkness, I seemed to enter a strange dream yet again. In it, I turned into a cloud of smoke that floated around a mountain. It felt like I’ve been here before. Littering the mountain were strange looking trees, as well as exquisite jade. The tree’s exuded an entrancing aroma.

    “Ha ha ha”

A burst of laughter rang out that was as clear as the song of a Nightingale

I followed the sound and eventually arrived on top of a massive jade, on it was an extremely beautiful fox. The fox had many tails and when I actually counted there were 9 tails. The fact that a fox could let out a human laugh left me feeling rather strange. This dream really was weird. Suddenly, a cold wind blew from the mountain stream, causing me to shiver.

“Not good. I can’t survive if the wind keeps blowing like this.” I screamed in my heart. However, I then realized, “This is a dream anyways, so no matter what happens, once I wake up, everything will be back to normal.

While I was in the middle of hesitating, that fox once again started laughing.

“Ha ha ha, Surprisingly, you’ve come again.”

“Didn’t I turn into a cloud of smoke? How can the fox see me? “ My heart felt extremely shaken. It’s strange how this dream feels so realistic, is it possible that this isn’t a dream, but reality?

Suddenly, a swirling vortex appeared whose rotation made it feel like both the sky and earth were spinning.

For a brief moment I was shocked, but I then realized that I was still lying in bed. Suddenly, there was the sound of fireworks exploding outside. When I glanced at my watch, I realized that it surprisingly was already midnight. This is the second time I’ve had this weird dream. I don’t know why this is all happening. This dream felt too real. What I saw in my dream felt too realistic, like I saw it all with my own eyes. If it’s a dream, why does my head hurt when the dream ends? If it’s not a dream, how could such a mystical place exist?

Once the year ended, I returned to school, however this time, I wasn’t in the same class as Huang Shulang and the others. Instead, I went to the 3rd grade, where there were many disciples of my Martial Arts Class, so it was very easy for me to adapt to the new environment. Unlike before, I was a very popular student in the 3rd grade.

Although the attitudes the teacher’s adopted towards me were still special, they were different from before. In the past, everyone would feel disdain towards me, but now everyone sees me as an academic genius. Everyone hopes that I can bring the class another step forward.

However, I already ran out of interest in this matter. It’s been very hard to calm down my heart. I seem to have felt the allure of the outside world.

Teacher Lin wrote in a letter to me that she’d been accepted by Provincial Normal University. She hopes that I can visit the Provincial Capital during my summer vacation. Her mentor was very interested in my current situation, and was willing to personally guide me in learning Ancient Script. Teacher Lin’s mentors name was Qin Daoheng, a nationally acclaimed expert on ancient Chinese writing.

I repeatedly flipped through Teacher Lin’s letter until it caused creases within the letter to become cracks. It was only then that I put the letter back in the envelope which I then slipped into a dictionary.

Since I received that letter, I’ve yearned to visit the Provincial Capital.

There are far too many questions clustered within my tiny head that I hope can be answered at the Provincial Capital. What happened at the tomb located on the main peak of Bajiao Mountain. What happened in Bajiao Village? What’s going on with the Vitality Script? Furthermore, what’s the matter with my constant strange dreams?

With all these issues piled ontop of each other, I was unable to handle them due to my young age.

“Since Teacher Lin has asked you to go, you should go to the Provincial Capital during summer vacation. You’re already this old, and you still have never left Bajiao Village, it’s about time that you go outside to take a look.”  Grandpa then tapped on his cigarette pipe.

I didn’t respond to this. “During summer vacation we have to harvest the crops.”

“Rest assured, your uncle Kuizi has already promised to help. He’ll be in charge of harvesting our crops. Feel free to go to the Provincial Capital.

“That won’t work, they also have around 10 acres of land.” I shook my head.

“You can feel rest assured. You have so many disciples who’ll all come help our family. You’re just going on summer vacation and will return in no time.” Grandpa put his tobacco pipe into his mouth and inhaled a few puffs.
