"Hot"

"So hot"

Those were literally the first words that came out of our mouth as soon as we got out of the airport. This taught me another lesson, which is: no matter where you are going, you should check the general climate of that region first.

"Nee, Onii-chan... Let's go back..."

"Oi! Don't give up yet, Charlotte!!!"

Even though we've only just left the airport for less than one minute, she already gave up and wanted to return home. I mean, the weather is hot, but it's not THAT hot, right?

"D-Don't worry, Charlotte... Tomorrow will probably be colder, right? Here, let me check the weather forecast for you..."

I turned on my phone and googled the weather forecast of Bangkok, the result, however...

"..."

"Onii-chan...?"

Should I tell Charlotte about the result...? I mean... She's going to know it anyway but I still don't want to show this to her...

As I was stuck in a dilemma, Charlotte took the chance and snatched my phone from me.

"Hey, Charlotte!"

"..."

Cr*p... She saw it...

"Nee, Onii-chan..."

"Y-Yes?"

"The flight attendant told us that today's temperature is around 34 degrees, right?"

"Right..."

"So how come tomorrow is going to be 36 degrees?!?!"

"I don't know!!!"

"That's it! I'm going back to Japan!"

"Oi!!!!"

Blocking her from reentering the airport, I tried to console her.

"Hey, Charlotte. Thailand can't be so bad, right? I don't believe that it could be hot all year round... Maybe we can come back in another few weeks. Here, let me check the long-term weather forecast..."

I fiddled with my phone a little before seeing the devastating result...

"Onii-chan...?"

"WHAT THE HELL IS UP WITH THIS COUNTRY?!?! WHY DO THEY HAVE ETERNAL SUMMER?!?!"

"That's it! I'm going back to Japan!"

"You can't!!!"

Mustering my remaining strength from the long journey, I dragged Charlotte onto a nearby Taxi before she could complain any further and told the driver to head towards the hotel...

Sigh... Maybe it was a mistake to come to Thailand after all...

************

Since we knew that Charlotte's father frequently uses the BTS sky train service, we booked a hotel that is not too far away from the station.

Also, the hotel that we booked is near a cluster of office buildings, which means that there are also many restaurants and services nearby.

However, as soon as we checked in into the hotel, we encountered a problem.

"Nee, Charlotte..."

"..."

"Why did you only book one room with a Queen size bed?"

"I'm so sorry, Onii-chan!!!"

That's right, apparently, Charlotte made a mistake when she was booking the hotel, and we ended up with a single room with only one Queen size bed in it. I already tried asking the Front Desk to get us another room, but since a certain company booked all the remaining rooms, they couldn't provide another room for us.

"T-Then... How about an extra bed, Onii-chan?"

"That's a great idea, Charlotte!"

"Um..."

As soon as Charlotte offered that idea, the Front Desk lady interrupted us.

"Although we would like to provide you with an extra bed, the same company that booked out all the remaining rooms also booked all the extra beds... We're sorry for the inconvenience..."

"..."

"..."

"Nee, Charlotte..."

"..."

"Let's go out to eat dinner first before thinking about this, shall we?"

"Sure..."

Thus, we decided to leave this complicated matter to the 'future' us.

************

However... That wasn't the end of our problems...

Since we've heard that Thailand's street foods are quite good, we decided to take a walk around the office buildings and find some food to eat.

"Onii-chan, Onii-chan! The fried chicken smells so good!"

Thus, it couldn't be helped that Charlotte would be attracted by the smell and headed towards a certain fried chicken stall.

The middle aged man that sold the fried chicken turned towards us as we got close to the stall.

"Uh... We would like to purchase some fried chickens please.", I spoke out to him in English.

"!?*!^!(&!"

That... was where our trouble began.

Lesson no.2: Always find out if the citizens of the country can speak English.

We later know that although some citizens of this country can speak English, most of them can't. Thus, ordering a simple fried chicken can prove to be quite a difficult task.

"Uh... Chicken!", I tried to simplify my sentence as much as possible.

"?!@?#%??^"

Tsk... Since it seems that the shop owner still doesn't understand what I said, it seems that I've got no choice.

I steeled my resolve, then I put my hands on waist.

"Uh... Onii-chan, what are you doing?"

"Shh... Charlotte... I'm going to get you some fried chicken, so just stay there..."

Then, I flapped my arms and made pecking sounds like a chicken.

"Cluck Cluck Cluck"

"?!@%#?^#"

Tch... The shop owner still doesn't understand, it seems that I'll have to try harder!

I flapped my arms more violently and made louder clucking sounds, trying to get the shop owner to understand what I want to buy.

"CLUCK CLUCK CLUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!"

"!)@*^&#%*^"

The shop owner still said incomprehensible words... It seems that I've got no choice now...

"Onii-chan..."

"Wait, Charlotte... I've almost got it now... Just a little more..."

"?!@%?^$"

"Wait, Onii-chan!"

"Charlotte, just stay there..."

Just as I was about to continue my 'sign language', Charlotte grabbed hold of my arm and then dragged me away from the shop.

"What are you doing, Charlotte?!?! I've almost got it, you know?!?!"

"Uh... Onii-chan..."

"Hm?"

"I've already got the fried chicken, you know?"

"Heh?"

Looking at her free hand, a bag full of fried chicken is hanging from her wrist.

"Wait, Charlotte... How did you buy it?"

"Google Translate"

"..."

"..."

"Let's pretend none of that ever happened, okay?"

"Un!"

Thus, we slowly walked back to the hotel in silence...

God... I'm so embarrassed!!!

[Extra Story - Thailand Entertainment News]

In a certain house in Thailand, a man is watching TV as usual on his sofa.

On the screen, two news reporter were talking with each other.

"And that was it for the crime news..."

"I've got to say, the crime rates in this country is decreasing, isn't it, Suthep?"

"Yes! I agree with you! Next up is the entertainment section of our programme. What do you have today, Somsee?"

The camera then turned to focus on another person.

"Good evening, citizens of Thailand. As usual, I'm back with some funny videos to help you ease your stress. Let's start off with this one..."

The screen then switched to a video of a certain Japanese man flapping his arms and clucking like a chicken...

And in just three days... the video became one of the most viral videos in Thailand...

But that is another story for another day...
