“Wait for me. I’m coming.”
This sentence was like a bullet to my heart.
Why did I always feel his presence near me no matter how near or far we were from each other?
And why, when we were close to each other, when our bodies were seamlessly pressed against each other, we would still be mentally apart?
I almost blurted out, “I will wait for you!”
But Yu Yin’s words suddenly emerged in my mind, “ When you use him to ave your fiancé, are you being fair to him ? He loves you, you’ve already hurt him once, don’t hurt him again..”
So I swallowed back the words and simply said,” No.”
Before I could have a chance to regret my words, I quickly hung up the phone.
Yu Yin had finally won. Her accusations had embedded themselves in my heart and I cursed her with fervour.

In the cold night, I sat on the hospital bench with my phone in my hand. I scrolled through my contacts over and over again, but I could not find a single person who could help me
In desperation, I decided to find a lawyer as soon as it was morning to discuss this case and figure out how we could get a winning verdict
When the first rays of the sun hit the earth, the sky was surprisingly clear and cloudless
Dressed in a dark green uniform, a man was standing in front of me. The golden sun blurred his outline, but the buttons in his uniform shone brilliantly
I looked up like an idiot. Even though I could not see his face, my heart started beating faster.
Slender fingers touched my face and brushed away my cold tears.
At my most desperate and helpless stage, this angel unexpectedly appeared in front of me. Needless to say, I was moved!
Just like that time many years ago, when he appeared on a rainy day to give me a ride back home even though he was injured…
“You?”, I stood up in amazement. My eyes were wide open. I was still finding it difficult to believe he was actually here.”How did you know where I was?”
“ GPS”, Ye Zhengchen answered shortly.
“ GPS?”
“ Global positioning system.”
I looked at him silently
I fisted my hands behind my back with all the strength that I had. I was afraid that my hands would involuntarily hug him, and he would realise how much I wanted him
“ What can I do for you?” His voice was a little anxious and these words pierced my heart like a sword.
“ There is some news that Zhong Tian may be sentenced to six or seven years of imprisonment.”
I bowed my head, afraid to see his expression.
But I could still see his chest moving up and down, and hear him taking deep breaths.
“In this cold, you sat the whole might at the hospital entrance because of him ?”
I was sitting here for Ye Zhengchen. I had been sitting and waiting for him for so many nights. But I didnt want to tell him that.
He looked at me with a sarcastic smile.
“ Didn’t you say you would wait for him no matter how long it takes?”
“ I can wait, I can wait for as long as it takes… but I’m afraid my dad may not have much time left.” I put my hand on my forehead, rubbing it.
“ My dad is sick. He has lymphatic cancer. In the last three years, he had regular chemotherapy and the cancer cells did not regenerate. But now when he heard about Zhong Tim, his spirits just collapsed. I’m so scared…”
Ye Zhengchen stopped smiling. He was a doctor as well, and he understood how critical the mental state of a cancer patient was for his survival.
“I’m sorry!” he reached out and hugged my shoulders, trying to comfort him.
“ My dad said he wants to see me in a wedding dress before he dies. He wants to hold his grandson in his arms. I don’t know how many years he has left. I cannot make him wait.”
I finally spit out the painful words in my heart
“ Ye Zhengchen, please help me once more. Please find a way so that Zhong Tiam does’nt go to jail.”
“ Ok!” That one word was firm and powerful.
He took out his cellphone and dialled a number.
As soon as the call was connected, I could hear someone curse from the other end, “ Is this the time to call someone after such a long time?”
This person was clearly in no mood to be amenable!
Ye Zhengchen looked at me and with an embarrassed cough, then covered the speaker with his hand, stood up and walked away.
After talking on the phone for some time, he hung up. I couldn’t wait and walked towards him.
“ What happened? Is it difficult to do?”
“ It’s not difficult to do. He needs to find out what is going on and then he will give me a call.”
“Is he confident he can do this?”
“Of course. I can personally guarantee it”. He messed my hair affectionately, “If I can’t save your fiancé, I will ensure you get another one.”
I was familiar with his dry sense of humour, with this warm feeling and his double entendres. I was reminded of the time we spent at the small apartment and the naughty smile on his face
After a moment of my heart beating rapidly, I blurted out, “ No, you cant compensate for the loss of this one!”
His hand on my head stiffened and the smile on his mouth froze
I laughed out loudly
Then he laughed as well and the morning sunshine shone on his face.
“ You’re still so sarcastic!”
“What happened to your blind self confidence?”
“ I know you too well..”
I sighed in my heart. Yes, no one in the world knew me better than him.
