The trip to Room 976 was a quiet one.

Lu AnLing had been holding onto Sheng's arm the whole time and both of them didn't even register each other's or presence touch until they arrived at the door.

Once inside, Lu AnLing jumped on the bed and sprawled herself comfortably before she grabbed a pillow and put it on her face.

"Ahhhhhhh!" She screamed into it.

Watching as she screamed her heart out, Sheng sighed before he took a seat on the bed beside her.

Lu AnLing continued to scream and then she held the pillow tighter onto her face.

Sheng pulled the pillow off of her. "Stop that."

Lu AnLing was going to say something but due to her frustration, only strange grunts would come out. She rolled around in the bed and continued to groan angrily like a child.

The only audible word that Sheng could hear come out of Lu AnLing's mouth was the word "Asshole."

"I know, I know, he's a complete asshole but you should just stop. You'll harm your vocal cords at this rate and Yang Yize isn't worth that."

Lu AnLing grabbed the pillow out of Sheng's hands and whined.

Lu AnLing: "I know!"

After saying this, she hit Sheng with the pillow. "But I'm so fucking pissed! Yang Yize, that asshole has such nerve accusing me of cheating!"

Sheng sighed and nodded his head.

Back then Lu AnLing was completely in love with the man. He was like a god to her and she would bend to his every whim. She even gave up on applying to a music school to pursue translation in order to be able to help him in his business ventures. Knowing all of this and yet still believing that she could stomach cheating on him was completely strange to Sheng.

Sheng understood that he and Lu AnLing's relationship could sometimes be easily misunderstood but they had both made an effort, when she was dating Yang Yize, to keep their distance.

But still, this didn't seem like it was enough…

Sheng watched as Lu AnLing hit him with a pillow in annoyance. Getting slightly annoyed himself, he said,

"Dude, just calm down."

Sadly, Lu AnLing wouldn't listen to him, she just continued to hit him. With every hit, Sheng was losing his patience until it just snapped.

Once this happened the man ripped the pillow out of the girl's arm and threw it to the side before he pounced on her. The moment was so pivotal that even Lu AnLing felt as if she had fucked up. As they wrestled the two laughed, though quickly, their play fight began to turn violent but their cheerfulness never subsided.

The two hadn't had this much fun in so long.

They enjoyed their moment but it was suddenly cut short when they heard someone knock at the door.

Hearing this sound, Lu AnLing pushed Sheng off of her and onto the floor before she walked to the door, though, before she opened it, she turned to Sheng and gestured.

"Fix your hair, sis!"

Sheng laughed. "Same to you, bro!"

Lu AnLing and Sheng did what the other instructed before the girl opened the door.

Once it swung open, Lu AnLing's face turned from happy to confused.

It was Rong Xin who stood there, frowning. Looking at him, Lu AnLing frowned also. She didn't understand why he had knocked at the door.

"May I help you?" Lu AnLing said.

Rong Xin gave an uncharacteristic smile which caused Lu AnLing's skin to crawl.

Rong Xin: "I saw you eating dinner with someone, I just wanted to check up on you."

"…" His words made Lu AnLing even more confused.

The girl didn't know that Rong Xin had been listening to them through the door. Once he began to hear the girls giggles he began to get a bad feeling and so he couldn't stop himself form knocking.

From inside, Sheng waited for Lu AnLing to close the door, but seeing as she wasn't doing so, Sheng walked up to the door with a frown completely disregarding what the scene would insinuate to a random stranger.

Sheng raised an eyebrow to the tall, skinny man. "Who is this? Your boyfriend?"

Lu AnLing's face twisted.

"No!"

Lu AnLing was a bit shocked that Sheng didn't realize that the man had been their taxi driver but she didn't say anything.

This time it was Sheng's faces turn to twist.

Sheng: "Then why are you standing here like a doormat?"

"Uhhhhh,"Lu AnLing didn't know how to act or what to say so instead of dwelling on the situation she looked between the two and said, "Sheng, this is my… friend Rong Xin, Rong Xin this is Sheng."

The two men looked at each other and faced off internally while Lu AnLing looked uncomfortably between the two.

The girl wanted to speak up and clear the strange misunderstandings which seemed to be spreading through the minds of the two men but her phone suddenly rang.

Seeing that Kang Jun was calling, Lu AnLing hesitatingly picked up the phone.

"Jun…" She whispered, sounding like a little girl.

Hearing this intimacy in her voice both Sheng and Rong Xin looked at the girl.

At first, Lu AnLing was going to say 'Mr. Kang' as she usually did but seeing as there were a limited amount of Kang's living in T City, Lu AnLing didn't want to risk Sheng making the correct association.

Sheng wasn't stupid, in fact, he was quite intelligent when he wanted to be and his network of powerful contacts was pretty huge due to him being the only son of two rich business owners. Who knows, maybe the boy knew some people from the Kang family.

Lu AnLing didn't want to take the risk of him finding out.

It sucked keeping something from her best friend but this was for her child. It was a sacrifice she was willing to make.

"Jun, give me a second," Lu AnLing said before turning to the two men, "I'll be back."

Once Lu AnLing had said that she headed straight towards the bathroom, leaving the two men quietly standing there.

Unable to bear the awkward silence, Sheng reached out to shake Rong Xin's hand.

At first, Rong Xin was reluctant to touch the man but after seeing Sheng's kind smile, he glared at the man and then squeezed his hand hard.

Feeling the pressure being applied to his hand, Sheng winced slightly but he made sure to keep his composure. He couldn't just allow himself to be intimidated by someone he just met.

Sheng gave a beautifully soft smile.

Seeing this, Rong Xin didn't know how he felt. The man was so pretty that he couldn't help but examine him for a moment.

"Nice to meet you. I'm Lu AnLing's best friend." Sheng specified the words best friend.

Hearing this, Rong Xin smiled back but it was easy for Sheng to see that the man's eyes weren't presenting the same feeling. "Nice to meet you. I'm Miss Lu's boyfriend's friend."

Rong Xin didn't hesitate to lie.
