The cloud of smoke settled and the Pokemon could be seen clearly. It resembled a lion cub or lynx kitten. Its front half was light blue, while the rear was black. There was a short tuft of fur on its head and smaller tufts on each cheek. It has large, oval ears with yellow, star-shaped markings on the insides, yellow eyes, and a tiny, red nose. It was a Shinx, probably one of the most lovable Pokemon in Sinnoh.
Saad stared adorably at the small creature with stars in his eyes. Even it is considered somewhat weak initially, its Evolve forms are super popular because of their high stats. Saad watched a Luxray fight in one of the tournaments and fell in love with it. Its dignified appearance and arrogance that it emitted, made it a very cool Pokemon in his eyes.
Right now, the small Shinx was bearing its small fangs threateningly at Chimchar. Small sparks could be seen lighting up on its body as he slightly moved his feet backward.
Saad noticed its movement and information related to the Pokemon ran across his mind. Shinx is known for its cautious nature. Shinx lives in pride along with their evolutions. They rely primarily on Luxio to bring back food, though they will attempt to chase down smaller prey from time to time to hone their skills. The leader of their pack is often a Luxray which is the evolved form of a Luxio. Shinx is very cautious and will run whenever they sense danger.
Saad knew what the creature was about to do as he quickly turned to Chimchar.
"Chimchar! Quickly close your eyes,"
Saad's guess was right as the skin of the little Pokemon suddenly sparked and began to glow brightly; enough to make one momentarily blind.
However, Saad and Chimchar were safe as they already closed their eyes.
"Chimchar! Quickly used Ember on it."
Saad knew that Shinx will try to retreat now so it ordered Chimchar to stop the Pokemon.
"Chimchar….", Chimchar nodded as he jumped towards Shinx and spat bolts of fire towards the small creature.
Shinx was startled as things didn't go as it planned, making it momentarily freeze causing the attack to successfully hit it. The power behind the attack made it fall down.
Saad smiled as he saw Chimchar hit the target but didn't let his guard down as he saw the Shinx stand up slowly while grimacing in pain.
Shinx stood up and stared angrily at the Chimchar and its body begin to spark heavily. The electric charge on its fur made it glow as he ran swiftly towards Chimchar. Its speed was impressive as he quickly closed the distance.
Chimchar closely looked at the attacker and dodged the attack by jumping at the exact moment. Shinx didn't give up and rushed to attack him again.
"Chimchar! Use scratch"
Chimchar readied its claws and attacked the creature furiously. Shinx was hit by the attack and began to retreat backward. Chimchar didn't stop and attack the Shinx repeatedly. But to Saad's surprise, this time the creature managed to dodge the barrage of attacks.
This went on for a while as both the Pokemon brawled with each other. It was nerve-wracking for Saad as it carefully monitored the two Pokemon.
Chimchar shouted furiously and tried to hit Shinx with its sharp claws but Shinx dodged the attack by moving sideways. Chimchar wanted to attack again but Shinx flashed and appeared to his left.
Chimchar was startled when Shinx suddenly appeared so close to him.
Shinx stared angrily at Chimchar as it swiftly bit Chimchar using its fang charged with electricity. Chimchar shouted in pain as the fangs penetrated its skin.
Saad stared worriedly at its partner who was in pain and ordered,
"Chimchar! Use Ember.."
Chimchar who was crying in pain heard the command and swiftly attack Shinx with fire. Shinx who was biting Chimchar could not respond fast enough and got bombarded with bolts of fire. The attack forced him to let go of Chimchar as it fell backward.
Chimchar quickly jumped back and fell on his knees holding his arm as he began to breathe heavily. Saad quickly ran towards him and asked worriedly,
"Chimchar! Are you okay?"
"Chimchar….", Chimchar nodded as he raised his hand with difficulty and pointed to the Shinx that was lying down unconscious.
Saad turned its head at the fallen Pokemon and knew what Chimchar was saying. He quickly took out a Pokeball from his belt and threw it towards Shinx after pressing the button.
The Pokeball hit Shinx and after a bright red light flashed, it disappeared leaving behind a shaking Pokeball. Saad stared at the Pokeball with anticipation as it slowly began to calm down.
Saad quickly rushed to pick it up as it stopped moving and yelled happily,
" I caught my first Pokemon"
"Chim…..char….", Chimchar smiled at its partner and fell down on the ground.
