"I shall take you out, so do not be too upset with me."

Now Andrew understood why she was strangely quiet since she saw him. It's because she overheard what the others have been gossiping about.

It still feels odd for him for saying it. However, he knows it will happen eventually. Andrew saw the markings on her calendar. When he saw that he couldn't help but panic. So it's happening at last. He's always wanted to have a date with her. But he's got zero experience in that department; he won't know what to do.

If the date goes well, maybe, he could take things to the next step. Although his chances are low, very low and he knows she's waiting for that guy to return. He can't control himself anymore. It's not like he loves her in that manner, at least that's what he thought. But Andrew wanted the relationship between them to work. If they were both in love with each other, wouldn't that be better?

Before Gabrielle could bat an eyelash, he had closed the distance between them. Andrew pinned her against the wall. Her wrists were being held in his steel-like grip as he placed them above her head. Eyes filled with lust and desire. Bloodshot red eyes.

It surprised Andrew how translucent the skin of her neck was, and was a testament to how delicate and sheltered she really was. He chuckled to himself, wondering how many men would have willingly given up their entire fortune to see her like this... and in this rather compromising position. He settled his head at the crevice of her neck, tickling her cheek with his soft, silver tresses.

"My Lord?"

"I really am going crazy."

….

It happened far too quickly, then again, attacks were never planned. Andrew reacted quicker than Gabrielle, right after he said those words to her, he pushed her down. The windows smashed into pieces, and the assassins came in. For the past few minutes, he had been fighting recklessly until the guards came.

"Hey... Gabrielle..." he began. The last thing he expected was for Gabrielle to tackle him the moment he finished fighting. Since then, he had been doing nothing but console her.

"I was so scared... I didn't know what I'd do... If you had died."

This was a first for him, no he's heard it plenty of times before, her weak voice. Even weaker than it had last night. It's strange; these days he is seeing more of her fragile side. Then again with his careless actions recently, it's only natural she is concerned.

"What are you talking about? If I didn't fight, you would have got hurt. I don't think I'd like that." Andrew said this as he softly placed his hand on Asuka's shoulder.

He knew they had an audience, and this conduct was unprofessional. But this wasn't a situation where he should worry about that. Andrew increased his hold on her, wrapping his arms around her slender waist.

"I want to stay with you for a while."

Andrew immediately knew what she meant. His gaze softened as he felt the girl's hands shaking. Her entire body was still trembling, so he gently caressed and patted her back. "You don't have to...." She doesn't have to; he already takes up a lot of her time. As the only daughter of her household, Gabrielle has a lot of responsibilities.

"But that's what I want."

"Should you be here? What about your family?"

"Don't. Don't say that now. Why didn't you at least contact me?"

Andrew gaze softened, and he kisses her eyelids softly, "Gabrielle, you know why."

He may be her fiance, but he knew that the girl's parents were still considering other marriage partners for her. One of the reasons why he had been avoiding her was this.

And in that situation, where her other marriage candidate got wounded. It's only natural that Gabrielle tended to him. If he so much sent a message, Andrew knew that she would have dropped her duties immediately and gone to him.

Like an idiot, she would have come to him. Indeed, this is dangerous for the two of them. He was already surprised enough when she came. He knew they'd eventually have to meet to finalize the details. But there was still some time before that needed to be done. He didn't think she would use that pretext to see him. He knew after hearing that she was staying, what she wanted, what he still wanted.

Naturally, everything just fell into place. This is bad for her. Andrew knew he can't continue seeing her, can't continue keeping Gabrielle by his side. He should have just told her after that time, that it would be the last time. When she asked him that question, he should have said it was a one-thing off. What is he doing trying to destroy her life for? He gently caressed her hair with his uninjured arm. A deep sigh of content from his lips passed as he continued to hold her.

"Andrew, are you hungry? I could make you something…"

"That does sound great. But for a while longer. Stay in my arms."

"I didn't know you could be so cheesy."

"What, do you dislike it?"

Gabrielle shook her head, "I'm learning a lot about you these days, my Lord, so I'm pleased." She genuinely seemed happy to him.

Andrew wonders how Gabrielle acts when she is around her other marriage candidates. Does she show them this side of her? What a bothersome thought, he made them both stand up. "Let us head back," Andrew signaled one of the soldiers who remained behind to step forward. "Call for him, and give him these strict instructions. Do not let those people escape," his tone turned deadly. This time around, he got a better look at them.

The soldiers immediately scurried off, and he leaves the room with Gabrielle. "Lyn, do you think she will.."

Andrew knew what she wanted to say. If Lyn learned about this, that idiot sister of his would try something for sure.

"It's fine; I don't think she will figure it out from just that. More importantly, if you lean in like that. You'll find yourself in a difficult position."

Gabrielle touched his cheek, "You only have one hand right now. Didn't the medics tell you not to strain yourself?" So, she heard about his injured arm.Find authorized novels in Webnovel, faster updates, better experience,Please click www.webnovel.com for visiting.

He smiles weakly, "And your hug just now took out the medicine he gave me." She glares at him, and laughter escapes his lips. Whenever he is with her, it feels like he can genuinely let out emotions that he would typically suppress.

"Lyn used to say that she always tried not to touch Rhys back, or initiate anything since it would mean that she was cheating. I understand now."

"You don't want to. But you want me?"

Gabrielle nodded, and it was the first time Andrew understood. This girl has always sacrificed a lot for him.

"I won't forget the kindness you have shown me, my Lord,"

Andrew sensed her tone. He shifts so he could kiss her eyelids gently. "Gabrielle, wait for me for a while. When things are settled with Lyn," he mumbled. "I will.."

His thoughts broke off when she placed a finger on his lip, "I understand, I always have."

And she has, hasn't she? Gabrielle has always remained supporting and understanding of him. She is the only person who stayed by his side, even after all the outrageous things he did. Andrew nodded. He has to hurry up and deal with this quickly, so Lyn can take the throne. Afterwards, he would sort it out, everything with Gabrielle and even that woman. When that happens, will his heart finally be at ease?
