The day of RE: AWO release, Hong Kong, Fu family mansion.
Inside a well-lit room, in front of laptop sat Fu Gang – a twenty-five-year-old youth with short golden hair, blue eyes, handsome face and a fit body.
Knock! Knock!
He looked up from his computer screen as he heard a knocking sound coming from the door and said, "Come in."
The door opened and through it came a middle-aged man in a butler uniform. He bowed his head and said in a voice filled with respect, "Young master."
"Did my father arrive?"
"Yes, young master, he is waiting for you in the lobby," the butler said as he was still bowing his head.
"Alright." Fu Gang closed the lid of his laptop, stood up and walked out of the room; after he left, the butler straightened himself and followed his young master out of the room; as he left he closed the door behind him.
When Fu Gang reached the stairs, the servant caught up to him and walked slightly behind him. The two walked like this until they reached the lobby. Entering it, Fu Gang's eyes moved to his father – Fu Jun, who was eighty years old and was sitting on an expensive couch and was drinking bourbon.
"Father!"
The old man turned his head and upon seeing his son nodded, "You are here. Come, sit!"
"Yes, father." Fu Gang walked up to a couch that was opposite of his father's and sat down. The butler came up as well and he stood between the two couches with hands behind his back.
"Bring a glass for my son,"
"Yes, old master." The butler bowed his head then walked out of the room and only two people remained seated in front of each other.
"Father, about the position."
The old man shook his head, "We will talk about it once we get one drink together."
Fu Gang nodded, "Yes, father."
Fu Jun drank down the bourbon in his glass and then said, "Son how are the properties in your care?"
"Father, I started working since I was 18 and even before then I gave you advice on how to deal with several work-related matters, and there was not a single time when I was in trouble. So your question is pointless isn't it."
The old man gave a dry laugh, "You are right." As his words fell, the butler came back into the room and placed the glass in front of Fu Gang. The butler took the bourbon bottle which was sitting on the table and poured in both glasses.
"Leave us alone."
"Yes, old master." The butler walked out of the room after giving a bow.
Fu Jun raised the glass, "To your future!"
Fu Gang nodded, "To my future." With these words, the father and the son gulped down the contents of the two glasses. Fu Gang placed it on the table, focused his eyes and said, "About that position."
Fu Jun sighed deeply, "It's not that simple, son,"
Fu Gang narrowed his eyes, "What do you mean it's not simple? I am Fu and you are already old, that position should go to me."
"Gang'er, it's not as simple as you are not my biological son…"
Fu Gang slammed down his fist on the table, "I am Fu Gang! Your son! Those old geezers don't have the right to take that position away from me!"
"Gang'er calm down, no one is taking that position from you, you are my only son."
Fu Gang took a deep breath, "I lost my cool for a moment… I apologise… but father the ten families have been around for more than a thousand years and the oldest son would always succeed the father and be a part of the ten who control the world. And now you are telling me they are won't give me this title. There is no other Fu if not me then who?"
Fu Jun nodded, "Ever since I was 23 I knew that I was infertile and since I knew, my father knew and the other 9 families knew and since then the other nine families had started making arrangements."
"Arrangements?" Fu Gang said with a frown.
"Yes, a plan to remove our Fu family from the ten families and replace us with another family."
Fu Gang stood and he shouted in anger, "That's bullsh*t, our Fu family is one of the original five who after hundred years became the ten. And they want to remove us?!"
Fu Jun poured in a glass of bourbon for himself and gulped it down. He laughed coldly, "Yes, they are throwing us out and it's my fault all because I am infertile and can't continue the bloodline. To them, you are not Fu and will never be but you still have a chance to save our Fu family from being dropped out of the ten."
Fu Gang sat down poured in himself bourbon and then gulped it down before saying, "How?"
"Are you aware of RE: AWO?"
"That new VRMMORPG?"
"Yes, do you know about it?"
"I have heard of it but its just a game what of it."
"This so-called game is actually the choosing ground for a family that will replace ours in the ten." Fu Jun smirked wickedly, "Do you want to partake in their little test and slap them all across their faces?"
Fu Gang smiled and nodded excitedly, "Yes, I do."
Fu Jun nodded, "To be selected as a family of the ten you will have to have cleared one of the two win conditions. Its either if you after twenty years in that game have the most prestige points. Or you would have to be the leader of the group which cleared the game. Are you up for it son?"
Fu Gang nodded, "I will do whatever it takes to be one of the ten. Whatever it takes!"
Fu Jun nodded with a smile, "Good, I knew you would accept, I gave the orders to the butler to deliver you the game system with the manual into your room. After you read the manual jump into it, you don't have time to waste."
"Yes, father," Fu Gang stood up and he walked back to his room. When he entered his room, he saw a choker and an instruction manual placed beside his laptop. He walked to the table picked up the manual and started reading it. After reading it he put on the choker laid down on his bed and said, "RE: Start!"
After saying these words the choker lit up and he could feel his eyelids feel heavy and before he knew it, he lost his consciousness. After he lost his consciousness, his eyes opened and in front of him he saw a white space and in this white space, several messages flashed before him.
