Lu Cheng hiccupped repeatedly, wobbling from side to side. A thick layer of fog began to shroud her eyes. A strong scent of alcohol surrounded her like a cloud.
She leaned against the wall and put her hand on her face, shielding her blush from the outside world. It appeared that drinking could turn even her thought process into a hot mess. Inside she was like an uncontrollable volcano ready to erupt at any moment.
It was only till she heard her best friend's voice did she finally calm down. Tan Li had finally arrived here.
"You ok?" The handsome youth walked besides her and asked worriedly, placing his cup onto the table.
His glistening eyes wand irresistible charm had managed to capture the hearts of countless woman. However, despite his cocky attitude, deep down he was a good friend. At times like these Lu Cheng was truly thankful for him, even if she wished to punch him every so often.
The DJ was still blasted at full volume as if the previous hours were none existent. The girls and guys on the dance floor partied like there was no tomorrow, jumping up and down like monkeys.
Lu Cheng looked besides her and saw her best friend. A sarcastic smile appeared upon her face.
"Well, I just forgot how good vodka tasted and well..." She laughed bitterly. A few old memories flashed through her mind, making her look down sadly. Night clubs like these made her the most nostalgic. After all, it was in a party identical to this one that she met him.
She should have known that he was already used to such a life, shattering the hearts of woman, knowing that such a place was a second home to him. It had only been his first time when Lu Cheng had caught his eye.
Tan Li smiled understandingly and turned his head to her, ignoring the sudden flash of light. The DJ had switched the song and the people shaking it off danced harder, more energetically then before.
"Hey, Lu Cheng, it'll be ok. You'll find another guy and forget all about him. Trust me," He promised. He took his cup and swirled the ice around for a few seconds.
Lu Cheng nodded silently. But her eyes showed uncertainty. How could she forget about him so soon? He was her first true love and she had been sure that they were soul mates. He was her everything and the thought of him betraying her had never occurred to her.
As Lu Cheng lamented her ignorance in sorrow, a woman came up to Tan Lin and pecked him on the forehead warmly. Lu Cheng could see her best friend's eyes instantly light up, much more than when he had been taking with her. She looked away in jealousy, tears beginning to well up in her eyes.
Once upon a time she used to be happy. Happy with her life, happy with her love, happy with everything... Oh how ignorant she was to believe such things. To think that he was trustworthy... A small flicker of fury lit up inside her and, little did she know, it would never die.
She went to the side bar alone and quickly guzzled down a dozen more cups of vodka and a cup of Champaign, drowning her heartache. It was at that moment that she swore, swore to become stronger so that no one could break her, swore to show him the meaning of pain, swore to show him what he had abandoned would surpass him in so many ways.
She slammed down a cup of vodka and determination replaced the anguish she had felt.
