The person who appeared before their eyes seemed to emerge from the solid wall making up the sides of the alley, but Meng Li had noticed that there was an extremely small and tight passage there, which led to somewhere. The person emerged from precisely that passage.

The person's face was covered by a mask, and not even his eyes were showing. Meng Li could feel that his aura was that of a third layer Qi Gathering cultivator, even though the man tried to supress it. His posture also gave out the fact that the person was a male.

"The entrance fee is a hundred gold coins." the man replied. He could see that Ye Jian and Meng Li evidently knew what they were doing, so he got straight to business. Ye Jian didn't argue and handed the coins directly to the man. He grabbed them from his bag of holding as though he would with a purse, so the man didn't notice anything strange.

With the payment completed, the man stood to the side and returned to the small passage. It was truly hard to see, especially from the entrance of the alley. Meng Li was confused for a few seconds due to the fact that they were faced with a very solid brick wall, but Ye Jian simply continued on and pushed it. To Meng Li's surprise, the wall smoothly opened, without any sound - it was a door, but the disguise was good enough to fool Meng Li without his Spiritual Sense.

When the door opened, it revealed a set of stairs leading down into the ground. Ye Jian didn't hesitate and started descending, with Meng Li following him closely from behind.

They both kept silent - Ye Jian confidently walked forward, and Meng Li followed him. Although he was confused, he knew that it simply wasn't the time to ask questions.

They reached the bottom of the stairs in no time, and were faced with another door. This time, it was a sturdy and beautifully decorated door. Ye Jian opened it and stepped through. The other side was nothing like the damp, dark stairway they walked - it was well lit, exquisitely furnished and almost cozy. It was a moderately sized room containing several chairs, with no other obvious ways of entering.

On one of the chairs sat an old man. He was neither short nor tall and quite lean. His hair was grey and tidy, while his neatly cut beard gave him a serious look. When they entered, he was calmly sitting on the chair, with a kettle of tea prepared on the table before him.

"Welcome." the man said with a small smile. Although he was kind, he didn't make any obvious signs that he wanted to get to business quickly. Ye Jian didn't waste time and chose a seat. Meng Li did so as well. Ye Jian started talking, and Meng Li let him take the lead - he had no experience at all.

"Hello. I'm Ye Jian, and this is my good friend." He introduced himself and pointed at Meng Li.

"I should probably introduce myself too. I'm Ji Tian." the man introduced himself.

"I've come here to buy information." Ye Jian informed the man, before getting straight to the point. "I want to know the state of the Empire as well as any major things that have happened in the past millennium. I also want any information you have about the other empire and the state of affairs with the Nine Sun Kingdom."

Before coming to the information merchant, Meng Li shared his limited knowledge with Ye Jian. He told him the names of the major factions in the world, their locations, and everything he knew, which wasn't much.

"You must've come from a far away place, friend." Ji Tian laughed silently and remarked. He then stated his price.

"What I'm going to tell you isn't information that is extremely hard to find, so I'll be kind. Nine hundred gold coins, for a total of one platinum coin in addition to the entry fee you've paid." he informed them, before adding something.

"However, I also have some information you might be interested in. It pertains not only the Full Moon Empire, but to the whole world! It will be public in a few months, but knowing some things months in advance is a huge advantage, don't you agree?" He pitched some information to Ye Jian. Meng Li guessed that he would agree since money wasn't an issue, and he wasn't disappointed.

"Okay, no problem. How much in total?" Ye Jian carelessly answered. Ji Tian's face showed a trace of surprise which disappeared in a split second.

"Hmmm... I'm going to be kind, and charge ten platinum coins in total. Including the entry fee and the information you requested in the first place." Ji Tian answered after a few seconds. Ye Jian calmly took out the coins from his bag of holding. Although Ji Tian was a cultivator, his cultivation base wasn't nearly high enough to know that Ye Jian was using a bag of holding, even if he knew of its' existence.

After handing Ji Tian the money, he started explaining the situation about the continent.

The Full Moon Empire was peaceful for the past few millennia with the only conflict being caused by the succession of power. The current dynasty had lasted for nearly three thousand years at this point, and there weren't any signs that it was about to come to an end. The current emperor's name was Tang Long. His talent was immense and he managed to take the throne without a problem. He had reached the peak of the Qi Sea Realm a long time ago and due to accumulation, his true power was far greater than a normal ninth layer Qi Sea cultivator. There were also some rumours that he would be the one to finally break through the limit and enter the higher realm - Meng Li couldn't help but nod when he heard that. He would have to break through to Origin Core eventually, which would allow every person at the peak of the Qi Sea realm to break through, so yes, as long as Tang Long didn't die, he would break through.

Ji Tian also explained some basic information about the Full Moon empire that Meng Li didn't catch. There were three major sects in the empire, and although they were separate entities, they still remained loyal to the emperor. Some tidbits of information Meng Li picked up was that the sects didn't have a joint ceremony of accepting disciples, and in less than a year, one of the sects, the Underworld Flame Sect would be searching for disciples.

There were many small academies across the empire, but the biggest one was an official academy of the empire, the Moonlit Academy, which was centred around a heavenly treasure passed from time immemorial - the Moonlit Pavilion. It is said that the pavilion has stood where it remains since the creation of the Full Moon Empire, and was placed there by the founding emperor, Shi Lu. Meng Li noted that even Ji Tian's emotionless face carried a bit of respect when he mentioned Shi Lu. Meng Li couldn't really tell why, since Shi Lu didn't even manage to reach the peak of the Qi Sea Realm, but he guessed that people just assumed he was powerful. What really interested him was the Moonlit Pavilion, but he decided to look into it later.

Apart from the three sects, there were numerous clans within the Full Moon Empire, with the most notable being the Jiang clan, the Su clan, and the Shi clan. Those three clans were the most powerful in the empire after the royal family, and it is said that some of them existed even before the current dynasty - with the most notable being the Shi clan. They claimed to be descendants of the founding emperor, Shi Lu. Those claims were never proved, but one couldn't deny that the Shi clan was powerful.

After describing the Full Moon Empire in detail, Ji Tian went on to describe the other factions of the world. Unfortunately, due to mainly operating within the Full Moon Empire, they didn't have in depth information about the other factions, especially the two archipelagos, which operated on a clan-basis.

First, he described the Heavenly Dragon Empire. The ruling family was young compared to the ruling family of the Full Moon Empire, but they still ruled for over a thousand years. Their current emperor is called Wang Xiu, and was officially named emperor only a few decades ago. The commotion caused by the change has mostly died down, but the empire is still recovering.

In comparison to the Full Moon Empire, the Heavenly Dragon Empire is quite strict when it came to sects - all of the sects which were created in the empire were either destroyed or forced out. As such, at the moment the empire only has clans. The main clans are the Weng clan and the Ji clan. The surprising part is that those families are extremely powerful, and are practically on par with the ruling family. Thus, the situation within the Heavenly Dragon Empire could be compared to a warehouse full of gunpowder - merely a spark could create a whole lot of trouble.

After which, Ji Tian went on to describe the two archipelagos, but in the process, he gave Meng Li important information which he couldn't find previously. The names of the continents as well as the two archipelagos! The east continent, the one controlled by the Full Moon empire was called the Dong continent, and the west continent was the Fang continent. The two archipelagos were the Zhong and Bian archipelagos, and the 'island paradise' Meng Li had nicknamed the shallow water archipelago was the Zhong archipelago, and the Bian archipelago was the deep sea one.

Ji Tian still kept on explaining - the Zhong archipelago was peaceful, with three major clans and a small, but powerful sect existing there. The three clans were the Li clan, the Xia clan, and the Hu clan. The balance of power was stable, and no major events happened in there. There also existed one major sect in the region - the Peaceful Water Temple. It is a small sect, located inside an artifact floating around the waters of the Zhong archipelago. It has the ability to keep water out from some areas, allowing people to live inside, but as it wasn't that big, the sect is quite small, with only a few thousand members.

The next area he described was the Bian archipelago. It was quite mysterious, with many clans living as hermits on their small islands due to the danger of travelling between the islands. However, there did exist four major clans, which held most of the power within the archipelago and managed to resist getting conquered due to banding together. Thus, the relationships between the four clans, though not extremely close, is friendly.

Then, Ji Tian got to the part which most interested Ye Jian and Meng Li. The small island, where they planned to create a sect. They learned it was named the Weixi island, and the one city created on it was the Kantan City, with an elite force composed of soldiers from all of the factions involved in the city protecting it from outside dangers. The Kantan city wasn't owned by one faction alone - technically, it was a free city, but no one had control over it. The elite force, nicknamed the New World Army, kept it safe, but didn't interfere in the conflicts inside. Thus, the city was entirely composed of cultivators, and it would be more fitting to call it an outpost than a city.

The ships leaving for the Weixi island just happened to leave a month ago, and they worked on a half-year basis. Thus, there was no hurry with getting to the ocean, since there were more than five months until the ship left. It was more than enough time for Ye Jian to find a safe place for his parents to settle down and manage to catch the ship.

However, when Ji Tian finished telling them about it, he still didn't excuse them. Meng Li quickly realised that he hadn't yet told them the last thing he promised - that important information which would be common knowledge in a few months.
