The sky was turning dark when Zion reached the old abandoned sector. He asked Gree to leave and inform his parents that he won't be back home tonight. Gree was smart and knew what Zion was implying, and promised to keep the trip of Zion to sector Zero a secret.

The terrain was rough and bumpy. It was long since anyone has touched this part of the city. He could see the wild taking over this sector; the inhabitants were hiding in the holes. He could hear the whines of the animals that were hiding.

A few minutes later Zion's eyes light up. He sniffed and smelled something, 'hmm… that smells nice' thought Zion. It was very relaxing and each cell of Zion's body excited for more. He looked around and saw a young tree beside the sewage, which still flows.

Zion quickly went towards the tree and gently touched it's exterior. Zion was excited to see what it was, an evolved tree! After a long time, Zion calms down and looked around. 'The water that flows through the sewage is strange' Zion thought and he followed through the sewage to find the origin of this strangeness.

Through the dark and gritty sewage, Zion moved until he spotted a conspicuous orange fruit that bears on a small plant. Zion found that a small amount of energy was trapped under the plant. 'So the plant absorbed the energy and crystallized as the orange fruit' mumbled Zion. This plant was growing on a broken sewage tunnel.

Zion decided to absorb this energy and eat the fruit. Abruptly, Zion jumped back and looked around to search for something. He has failed to find anything at all but was certain there was something fishy. Zion believed in his instincts, which was honed after, years of brutal warfare against various creatures of terror.

Zion found himself looking at a bronze giant rodent, its eyes were pitch black and a deep growl enough to pierce a man's heart were heard. Zion didn't look around to see the source of that growl. He knew the rodent in front of him was not ordinary and it's futile to even think that he could outrun this mutant beast in this darkness.

'It should have eaten every creature in this region, it was no wonder there are a lot of men missing cases. What the hell was law enforcement even doing to solve these issues?' Zion thought aloud. 'I should have at least brought a weapon to defend myself'. He could only blame his blindness for such errors.

The rodent didn't move instead it waited for Zion to make an action. It was now Zion saw the small iron rod with a sharp end in the sewage. Zion rushed to get that rod. Zion knew, despite the rust in the rod, it would be enough to pierce the body of rodent and impale it to the ground.

The rodent jumped and bite on to the right shoulder of Zion. "Ahhha….." roared Zion, the sharp tooth of rodent sunk into the flesh and hold on to the bone. Zion took the iron rod with his right hand and hold the rodent with the left hand. He strived to separate rodent from himself, but it clutched on to the shoulders.

Finally, Zion pulled out the rodent with a piece of his own flesh. "Ahhhha…" Zion howled himself with the pain. He felt dizziness from the loss of blood, but he nailed the rodent to the ground. Still, the rodent didn't die, its life force was full of vitality. The rodent chewed the flesh of Zion with a great appetite. Despite the toughness Zion had, this sends a chill down the spines of him.

Zion moved forward and plucked the fruit to eat it. He sat down and consumed that fruit, his body was excited and he had an urge for more. Zion started to absorb the trapped energy until he was not able to sense anymore.

He felt an energy surging through him. He guided this energy and refined them as his own. Zion saw the flesh he lost was regenerating at an unbelievable speed. The rashes and the deep wound inflicted from the nails of the rodent was also gone.

Zion rose from the ground and looked at the rodent. 'It didn't have much strength. If not this wouldn't be such an easy task' he thought. 'I should probably find the source of missing person'. Zion started to move forward and searching at the premises.

After a long period, Zion started to sniff out a strong stench. He covered his nose subconsciously and stopped breathing as he saw the heap of skeletons. It was mangled with the rotten flesh of the bodies, he saw it was not only humans but also a lot of rats and other creatures were in that heap.

Zion stunned for a while watching this gore seen and snapped out of it, after all, he has seen much worse things.

He watched carefully and tried to analyze what kind of predator did this to them. 'That rodent must be the only survivor from this massacre. After seeing the number of rats in the heap, his body turned cold at the imagination of a horde of rats rushing toward him'.

'Something must have emerged here and it was precious enough for them to fight each other. The winner should have taken it and left.' Zion though as he searched for clues. The big torch he brought for the searching of mystery was cracked after the fight with rodent and was leaking the energy.

Zion knew he would be in dark, ones the torch was dead and decided to leave this abandoned sector. He took the rodent, which was still alive with the iron rod and walked towards the main road mumbling, 'I should have come here when the sky was bright'.

Zion walked with the thoughts of his future and the apocalypse, 'some will see this as the apocalypse while others will see this as natural evolution'.

Suddenly he was bumped into someone, a middle-aged man. In this darkness, he wore a black coat and was wearing night goggles.

"Where the hell were you walking around in this abandoned area at this night, Couldn't you see someone was in front of you" snarled Zion.

"Don't you know it's rude to talk to someone like that? Then again, you are highly conspicuous at this time with blood in your shirt. I guess you had a rough night."

"This was none of your business, man. Whoever you were. I would like to be in my home, Just like you said it's been a long night." Zion sneaked away while giving a blow to the middle-aged man's stomach and a heavy punch on the nose.

The mysterious guy sat down on the ground and looked at Zion, who was running away." I would get my hands on you kid, just watch out for me."

"Do I know this kid, that was a familiar face, who would that, be?"
