Chapter 1 – Isekai
It was a forest that’s different from your normal one. It’s filled with the voices of beasts and insects that was never heard before. The dark green scenery seems like an illusion so real that you can feel the taste of the air. Within it, a man and a woman stared at each other with confusion.
“What is that?” The one who voiced the question is a boy named Shindou Shin, a vast blue sky spread beyond his sight. Above the sky, a big sun float together with a small sun beside it.
“It’s scary, Shin-chan” The female voice that came after belong to Mikogami Yuri, she was staring at a huge silhouette flying across the sky, It was a creature deserved to be called a dragon in all sense. The dragon kept flying slowly until it disappear out of sight.
The two of them are childhood friends who lived next door to each other while attending the same school and studying in the same class. After they become interested in the opposite sex, they’ve become conscious of each other for a few years. They have passed the previous new year holiday without making any progress, and then while they’re on their way to school, they found themselves in this forest.
“This isn’t Japan right ?” “I think this isn’t even earth, is this a different world ?” We saw lot of unbelievable sight after all, both of us had no other choice except to accept the strange reality. It took some time for the both of us to calm down.

In the past, Shin only eat bread he bought from the school store for lunch, so one time Yuri prepared bento for him too, saying it’s no different making two person worth of food. Yuri gave him the box secretly, but then after he finished his lunch Shin obliviously put the empty box on Yuri’s desk and said ‘Can I rely on you again tomorrow ?’, stunning Yuri and all of his classmates. From that time, making a bento every morning become a secret bridal training for Yuri.
“With all this heat, it’s going to get bad fast, we should it eat sooner. Let’s find a good place to settle down and eat.” “Like a river ?” “A place with good visibility would be best. Monsters might see us, but it’s far better than being attacked in a cramped place like this”
They were checking their luggage while paying attention to the surrounding. They got writing utensils, textbooks, jersey and a small amount of sweets. If we finished the water in Yuri’s drinking bottle, we have to be prepared to drink raw water.

It took about one hour. They were exhausted mentally, not physically. They washed their face in the river and begin to eat their bento.
“Should we follow the ridge toward the mountain ?” “No. In this case we have no other choice but to go downstream somehow. We don’t have a search party looking for us, and we don’t know our way ahead. So we don’t have other choice but to try finding a village that settles along a water source” Shin shakes her head to Yuri’s question. After some thought, he reached that conclusion. They need to go down the river and find a place to settle before the sun sets. He thought that his idea was haphazard, but there was no other choice. Yuri then poured a hot tea into a cup.
“Sorry, it’s not a cold tea” “It’s fine, it looks like this world have winter too. Thankfully there’s no snow” I replied the depressed Yuri with casual remark, I feel strangely calm myself.
“Hey… Shin-chan. I’m glad you’re here with me. If I’m alone, I’m sure I can’t do anything and just cried in that place” “Me too, I can’t imagine what I’m going to do If I’m alone in here”
In the original world, Both of us might be considered missing or spirited away. I didn’t want to imagine a scenario where we’re separated and I kept searching for the missing Yuri or scenario where I can’t met her again forever. So in a way, there’s a relief that we’re together now. Shin convinced himself with that thinking.
He was looking at the gently flowing river so Yuri can’t see his slightly red face. “I’ll always stay beside Yuri forever…” “Yes…” Embarrassed, both of them send their line of sight to the river opposite of each other and they were sitting back to back. Shin hoped he reduced Yuri’s burden with those words.
Yuri then quietly tapped Shin on his shoulder. “What happened ?” “Th-that”
Yuri voice were trembling when she spoke to Shin. When Shin turned his body backward, he saw the thing reflected in Yuri’s vision. “Wh-Wha-” There’s a boar in front of us, except this boar have a fangs that extends from its mouth like a saber tooth tiger. Also, the size of the boar is unnatural, Its large body was taller than Shin even while standing on four feet. The creature hit the ground with its hind legs while staring at Shin and Yuri. “What the hell is that!!” At the same time Shin yelled, the boar rushed at them.
□ ■ □ Time seems to pass slower. While the surrounding scenery flowed in slow motion, Shin alone moved smoothly within it. The boar was rushing forward, its charge can be likened to an accelerating car. As the boar gradually comes closer, Shin stood up and embraced Yuri. And then he jumped. “Gh!” It was a really narrow escape. The back of his student uniform was ripped. The bags and bento left behind was trampled by the charging boar and tossed into the river. When Shin looked at the boar that just charged past him, there was a shower of water from the river dropped on his body. The flow of time has returned to normal.
“Shi, Shin-chan?” “Yuri, can you run ?” While being held by Shin, Yuri raises her voice. Shin stares at the boar in front of him and asked her a question.
‘I need to reproduce that feeling from before’, His intuition was telling him that. But even though He can avoid the boar again, it won’t improve his situation. So he asked Yuri to hide in safety while he mulled over his choices But then, he felt Yuri shaking her head while still being held in his arms.
“My, my legs… It… It can’t move…” Yuri’s whole body trembles, she cannot move and leave everything to Shin. While embracing her vulnerable body, Shin noticed the boar has returned to face him again.
The color of danger floats within its eyes. The boar recognized Shin as an enemy, not a prey. Shin somewhat understood that. But what he didn’t expect is the boar’s next action.
“Guboaaaaaaaaa!!” The boar lets out a howl, and together with the sound, multiple sharp ice appears around it. The sharp tip was pointing at Shin, and the number increases one after another. When the number reaches 12, the boar stopped it’s movement.
“Was that…magic” Before the phenomenon in front of him that can only be described as magic, Shin realizes the situation has turned for the worse. The stuff that deserves to be called Ice Spear delicately shifts its orientation, one can see that any of them can hit its target within wide radius. When that time comes, there’s no doubt it would cause a fatal injury. Shin who understands that death has crept closer lost the power in his leg.
“Shin…-chan” “Damnnnnniiiiiiiit” Shin hugged Yuri strongly and turn his back to the boar, trying to protect her from the ice spear. He closed his eyes and hears a small cry from the boar behind him as if it was ridiculing him.
“Seems like I barely made it in time”
