Chapter 7.1: In the City

Lu Yin looked at Zhou Shan. What he said was true. The so-called “Seven Saints of China” were but an ant compared to the vast universe. Any student from the stars possessed the strength of a Heaven Realm Expert.

In the vast universe, The Heaven was known as the Realm of Exploration, the second step of cultivation. The first step was the Realm of Gaze––implying that young cultivators could only watch as they enlighten themselves. Lu Yin was at the Realm of Gaze, then broke through the Realm of Exploration.

The first step was to observe and the second step was to probe the human body. In this step, the human body would gain explosive strengths. Then after the second step came the third step, the Realm of Fusion.

The road to training was long and vast; for a rogue soldier like Zhou Shan who used energy crystals to train, it was almost nigh impossible for him to reach the peak of the Realm of Exploration for the stronger he became, the more he felt the insignificance of his existence.

“Heh, why am I telling you this? Come, let’s go out and take a look. At this time, Zhao Yu should be fighting with one of my captains.” Zhou Shan smiled freely as he led Lu Yin out of the meeting room.

Lu Yin followed quietly behind. They soon arrived at the top of the square. Through the glass window, he saw a Feng Hong, a captain of ten thousand men beaten by Zhao Yu, his body lying on the ground pitifully.

Zhao Yu was dressed in tight clothing, her attacks sharp and decisive. Lu Yin smiled. At the next moment, she quickly suppressed Feng Hong.

Zhou Shan looked down from above and shook his head. “Earth Realm Experts are divided into the strong and weak, the difference between them far too great. Zhao Yu can defeat my captain without using a battle skill.”

Lu Yin looked down and said in a low voice, “Her combat skills were activated using a plant.”

Zhou Shan laughed. “Of course, whether it is Xue Nu or Luo Sheng, when they use the Frozen Ice Palms that can freeze the human body, they must borrow from external objects. The human body itself cannot produce such an effect.”

Lu Yin’s eyes narrowed.

Unable to produce such an effect? Wrong. Powerful battle techniques and innate talent have the capability of changing the constellations, but Earth would not know of such things.

For example, Lu Yin’s Heavenly Star Art could imitate the circulation of the stars. None would believe him tough if he told others.

Soon after, Feng Hong was quickly defeated. Following which, two other centurion soldiers were defeated consecutively. No one was willing to go up thereafter.

Zhao Yu raised her head high and glanced around. “I heard that all the centurion soldiers of the Punishment Battalion are iron-blooded warriors. What is this? No one is willing to spar with me?”

Feng Hong and the others donned an unsightly contorted look on their faces.

Zhou Shan smirked and broke out into laughter. “Luo Sheng’s three snow ladies are known as the Unrivaled Earth Realm Experts. They really do have some ability to back their arrogance.”

At this time, Zhao Yu looked up and stared at Lu Yin. She raised her hand, crooked her finger, giving off a valiant aura.

Feng Hong and the others looked up in surprise.

Lu Yin raised an eyebrow. This was mere provocation.

Zhou Shan laughed. “It seems she is not convinced that you defeated her yesterday.”

“No loss or victory was decided yesterday,” Lu Yin replied.

“Then, go and fight. We can’t let our Punishment Camp lose too much face.”

Lu Yin nodded and walked towards Zhao Yu.

In the plaza, the surrounding hundreds of evolved people began whispering amongst one another. Many of the evolved ones looked at Zhao Yu with a touch of reverence. A female warrior at the peak of humanity’s strength, what was not to like? She was their idol.

Seeing Lu Yin near closer, Zhao Yu breathed deeply. She was not convinced of yesterday’s result. She originally had the upper hand but was somehow defeated. She wanted to see that battle skill again.

In the distance, Feng Hong and the rest looked at the slowly approaching Lu Yin. They could not help but say: “Brother Lu, be careful. This woman can use the combat skill ‘Frost Palm.’ It’s very powerful.”

Lu Yin nodded and looked at Zhao Yu. “Please, if you will,” He said.

Zhao Yu’s eyes brimmed with an agitated fighting spirit as she jumped up and lifted her hand. She pulled out a dagger from nowhere and rushed forwards to attack as she did previously. The dagger tore through the air and reflected a cold light.

Lu Yin easily dodged the attack. The him yesterday was completely different from the him today. Yesterday, he was just an ordinary man with a strengthened body, but today, he was a true cultivator, a cultivator who’d reached the Realm of Exploration.

Lu Yin’s skillful dodging caused Feng Hong and the rest to form cold beads of sweat on their temples.

Zhao Yu’s attack speed grew faster––faster than the eye could see. Her dagger even carried a cold chill that caused the air to turn white and temperature to plummet.

The ground in the plaza square shattered.

Zhao Yu wielded her dagger, and like a whirlwind, it sealed off all of Lu Yin’s surroundings and points of exit. Strands of force shot out in all directions and penetrated through the walls, making it hard for many evolved folks to breathe.

Lu Yin stared fixed at Zhao Yu. Suddenly, he raised his hand, his figure passing by like a flashing wisp. His movements were light and hurried, and his hand was like a dagger emitting cold air.

No one dared to breathe as they silently watched the scene in front of them.

Zhao Yu was dumbfounded. The dagger in her hand had been snatched away.

Feng Hong and the others were surprised before their cheeks flushed red from excitement.

“Good job, Brother Lu!”

“Brother Lu is amazing!”

Chapter 7.2: In the City

Lu Yin turned around to face Zhao Yu. The dagger in his hand flew out and casually returned it back to Zhao Yu.

“Do you want to continue?” He asked.

Zhao Yu stared at Lu Yin. “How did you do that?”

Lu Yin shrugged. “Eyes, hands, speed, they’re all indispensable when used well.”

Nonsense, everyone thought.

“You won. You were able to snatch my dagger without suffering any injuries. I don’t think anyone amongst the Earth Realm is your match. You are strong.” Said Zhao Yu with a complicated tone.

Lu Yin laughed.

These people’s horizons were too low. They who didn’t even have a proper set of combat skills were at the bottom pool of the universe’s major academies. How could they have the qualifications to say such words?

Zhao Yu put away her dagger in disappointment. Only now did she realize that Lu Yin seemed different from yesterday. “You… Your energy was depleted yesterday?”

Lu Yin did not explain. Instead, he turned around and walked outside. He wanted to take a walk for there was not anything he was looking for in that desolate mountain. Perhaps it was hidden somewhere else.

Zhao Yu watched as Lu Yin left. She genuinely wanted to ask of the battle skills he used yesterday, but battle skills were usually private and one’s own secret cards, so she did not ask.

It was rumored that he was the one who killed that alien, so him having a powerful battle skill seems highly likely. One must know that aliens were Heaven Realm Experts and thus those below that realm would find it difficult to injure one heavily to the point of death.

.. … …

Lu Yin was one of the captains of the Punishment Battalion. Though he had no actual authority, the Punishment Camp assigned him a squad of 100 soldiers to him, allowing him the authority to command those 100 soldiers.

“Do you know where the hot weapons warehouse is stored?” Lu Yin asked faintly.

“Northwest from here,” The soldier replied.

Lu Yin pulled out a map. “Mark it for me to see.”

Lu Yin’s soldier took out a pen and drew a circle on the map.

Lu Yin nodded and looked at them. “You guys go back. I’m going to take a walk.”

The soldier could not help but say. “Captain, the armory was blown up at the beginning of the apocalypse. It only left behind a small amount of firearms thereafter. If you need them, you can request for one from the Punishment Saint.”

Lu Yin nodded once more. “Alright, got it. You and the others can go back now.”

With that, Lu Yin walked northwest alone.

On one hand, it was for him to dispatch his soldiers, and on the other hand, it was for them to monitor his current location. Lu Yin had no intention of hiding his location. Searching for something which was kept hidden was seeking a death sentence, so it’d be useless to search in secret. Alerting them was more convenient as he’s able to search openly. With his strength, it would not arouse too much suspicions.

… … …

Lu Yin’s guess was right. Soon as he left, someone reported his recent actions to Zhou Shan.

Zhou Shan’s eyes narrowed. “Weapon warehouse? What is he doing in that place?”

The charming bespectacled woman walked over and pushed the rim of her glasses up. “The weapon warehouse is already destroyed. What he’s looking for should not be weapons but something else. The only question is, what is he looking for?”

“Whatever. We have no secrets there.” Zhou Shan smiled.

… … …

With Mount Bell at the center, Jinling City shone brightly. The closer one was to Mount Bell, the better its geographical location, and the safer it would be for folks.

Outside of Mount Bell, people lived not in peace. Some lived on the streets, some on the cold ground, and some even near the rivers. They lived day after day in blind terror.

On the contrary, some lived to their fullest. The world’s moral boundaries crumbled to dust after the apocalypse. None could stop the wicked and the sinners. They could do whatever they wanted.

On the way to Lu Yin’s desired destination, he saw many evolved men humiliating the survivors without care for repercussions.

This was the state of the world he lived in. Earth had lost everything and gained everything.

Only Lu Yin knew that this was the beginning steps of evolution. If one civilization evolved, the price they would have to bear would be hefty.

Lu Yin looked up. The sky was gloomy. Soon, heavy rain began to fall and washed away the dirt on the ground. Red blood flowed along the water, mixed with all kinds of rubbish.

Lu Yin found a relatively clean restaurant and sat down.

Survivors all squatted in front of the restaurant’s entrance. Every time the restaurant carried out food trash, they would end up robbed crazily by the homeless.

“Get lost! Get away from here! If I see you again, I’ll send someone to deal with you all!” The waiter shouted. He was an evolved human.
