"I reached the Second Stage of Skin Tempering," Shi Li said with confidence.

Shi Xingwan's eyes slightly widened from Shi Li's statement and rubbed his ears to see if he was hearing wrongly.

"Could you repeat that, my son?" Shi Xingwan asked with a slight dry chuckle at the end.

"I reached the Second Stage of Skin Tempering. You could check if it's true or not with your qi, Father," Shi Li said the statement yet one more time without a change in his expression as he was the one who witnessed it happen to his own body.

Shi Xingwan, being skeptical of his son's words, released a small strand of qi and circulated it around Shi Li's body. With every passing of the qi within Shi Li's body, he could see that most of his skin was compacted, which was the sign of someone being at the Third Stage of Skin Tempering. But since Shi Li showed signs of skin compaction back when he was at the First Stage, Shi Xingwan connected two and two and smiled with joy as he retracted his qi.

"Hahaha! Great! Truly a godsend! My son reached the Second Stage of Skin Tempering in just a bit over two weeks! And what was it? You started cultivating just over three weeks ago right? You're definitely a monstrous genius, my son!"

Shi Li smiled at his father's praise for him, but was replaced with shock when his father continued talking.

"Now that I think about it..." Shi Xingwan rubbed his chin, "Since you've reached the Second Stage of Skin Tempering using your sheer will and strength, I guess it's time for you to get a Low Human grade martial technique from the clan library."

Shi Li couldn't contain his excitement as he moved his chair closer to Shi Xingwan. "Really?! I can pick a martial technique from the clan library?!"

Shi Xingwan chuckled as he nodded. "Well, of course! You're my son, so you get benefits that most of the clan members your age wouldn't get. Plus, at this stage, everyone gets a starting martial technique, but the quality differs between people. It could be Low Human grade, Lower Human grade or even a Mortal grade martial technique."

Shi Li remembered that he crafted a piece of equipment at the E+ grade. After listening to his father's explanation, he realized that E+ was actually Lower Human and E was Mortal.

Shi Xingwan continued, "Plus with your current cultivation realm, you can join the Shi clan tournament in two months! I can still remember the deal we made aiya..."

Shi Xingwan gave a stern look to Shi Li. "Well since you can join the tournament, you're going to need a way to attack your opponents in a unique manner, even though you found a way to incorporate your cultivation technique into your attacks. Just remember to not choose a technique that seems impossible to cultivate."

Shi Li processed and organized the information his father told him before nodding. "I got it Father. Speaking of which, I killed a few beasts in the forest and stacked the corpses up just beside the dirt path. Do you think I could sell those corpses for a good price?"

Shi Xingwan was surprised that his son was able to hold himself in the forest, killing a few beasts along the way. 'It wouldn't reach beyond 10 beasts anyway. But that amount is already good enough.'

Shi Xingwan smiled as he said, "Of course you can. Beast corpses would sell for a lot as they have certain parts that are important for pill concoction or weapon crafting."

Shi Li imprinted the words 'pill concoction' and 'weapon crafting' into his mind, because they were also profitable jobs other than hunting beasts.

'I have experience making equipment, so crafting weapons shouldn't be that hard, right?'

"Well...is that all, my son?" Shi Xingwan asked.

Shi Li nodded as he stood up and went towards the door. "Yes, Father. I shall go back to my courtyard for now to continue cultivating. I'll pick my starting martial technique tomorrow."

Shi Xingwan nodded back and waved his hand. "I see, well good luck on cultivating."

Shi Li waved his hand before closing the door shut.

Slam.

Shi Xingwan let out a sigh of relief as he stretched his back on the chair. 'It seems that the third thing hasn't been fulfilled up till now, which is definitely a good thing.'

'But it seems that Shi Li is actually a born genius, cultivating faster than normal people. But first...'

Shi Xingwan released a strand of qi and sent it towards a nearby elder as he transmitted a message.

"Shi Feng, bring two guards at the Peak of Organ Tempering and head towards the Forest of Ruin. My son killed a few beasts that wouldn't amount to over 10, but he's planning to sell them. Go and grab them so they could be sold through our connections."

Shi Feng, who was surprised to get a command from the Shi clan patriarch, respectfully replied and ran to the Shi clan gates to prepare for a short journey.

"Yes, Patriarch!"

...

Shi clan, Shi Li's courtyard.

Shi Li exerted the sixteen movements of Heaven's Waltz from first to last as nature resonated with every movement, bring a small gust of wind.

After 5 sets of the sixteen movements, Shi Li stood still and closed his eyes as he felt the wind blowing at his body.

'The Heaven's Waltz works well for my cultivation, but my progress is at least two times slower than it was. I even remember that there were three layers of the cultivation technique, so wouldn't that mean I would have to cultivate the second layer of techniques to progress at the same rate as I used to?'

At that instant Shi Li asked himself that question, the ever familiar white screen popped up in front of Shi Li's face.

~~~~~~~~
As the User has reached cultivation realm D-2, First layer technique [Heaven's Waltz] has been upgraded to the second layer technique [Triacontadigon Wind Gavotte].
- Nonpareil Eye Interface
~~~~~~~~

As the interface said this, a part of Shi Li's memory about the Refined Skin Tempering Foundation Manual was opened up, allowing Shi Li to see the movements that make up the second layer.

To Shi Li's surprise, the second layer was a continuation of the first sixteen moves of the Heaven's Waltz, bringing the total amount of movements to thirty-two.

'I guess that's why the second layer of techniques was called the Triacontadigon Wind Gavotte, with a triacontadigon being a polygon having 32 sides.'

'But with the Heaven's Waltz having a connection between each movement, the Gavotte also shows it through its name. Triacontadigon is a polygon with 32 sides, that are all connected.'

'So this means I have to grasp over all the movements and cultivate it in a cycle to possibly reach the Third Stage of Skin Tempering?'

"Anyways, it's not a problem to try it out," Shi Li muttered.

And so, Shi Li tried to form the next sixteen movements into muscle memory up until night fell.

...

The Forest of Ruin, just a few hours after Shi Xingwan's order.

Shi Feng looked around the dirt path with two guards behind him. Since the patriarch ordered him to do this, he would fulfill it to the greatest extent.

"Now where is that small pile of beast corpses?" Shi Feng rotated his head until his eyes landed on an eye-catching light barrier.

"Oh?" Shi Feng was surprised that a barrier was erected beside the dirt path leading to the Forest of Ruin...where Shi Xingwan said the pile of beast corpses were...

"Follow me!" Shi Feng shouted as he came closer to the barrier, wanting to see if his theory was correct or not.

A few minutes later, Shi Feng and the guards were standing in front of the light barrier with curiosity. The light barrier looked out of place as it exuded a terrifying aura to anyone who came near it. The ray of light circling the barrier supplied the barrier with energy to protect the items inside.

"If this barrier was made by the young master [1], I'm quite surprised that he was able to do this without using an inner energy or qi whatsoever."

Shi Feng read up on a type of people that could use the energy around their surroundings without even converting it into their own energy. He had a thought that Shi Li was that kind of person.

He asked a guard to give a blade to him before coming even closer to the barrier and cutting the connection of the ray of light to the barrier with his qi.

Weeeeng.

The barrier dissipated in an instant from top to bottom, making the two guards drop their jaws from the shock of the sight.

Shi Feng, who was facing opposite of the sight behind him, saw the expressions of the guards and asked, "What's wrong?"

A guard pointed towards behind Shi Feng as its finger shook. "L-l-look behind you..."

Shi Feng raised his eyebrow before turning his head, to end up dropping his jaw as well.

"What in the name of..."

Shi Xingwan's estimated amount of 10 beasts being killed by Shi Li was truly an understatement. Because with their naked eyes, Shi Feng and the two guards could see a pile of beast corpses that was made of over a hundred beasts!

"What...the fuck?"
