Shi clan, Shi Xingwan's room.

Shi Xingwan was checking the papers he needed to sign for today until his stomach pained all of a sudden.

"Hngh! Fuck!" Shi Xingwan couldn't help but blurt out as he fell off his chair, clutching onto his stomach.

"I know my energy core is broken, but why does my qi have to attack my body once in a while? Is it because my energy core is almost at the point of bursting?"

Shi Xingwan cried out to the skies but it felt like the world ignored him. He took deep breaths as he let the pain die down, gritting his teeth while enduring it. Around ten minutes later did it finally die down, letting Shi Xingwan move normally like nothing happened.

Shi Xingwan slowly stood up as he looked at his energy core while sighing. The cracks on his energy core expanded even further as the qi inside his body became more chaotic. He didn't know long until it would burst, but he was certain that it would burst soon enough, causing him to die.

So far, the pain he endured back then wasn't as painful as this, but this current sensation made him realize that the pain would intensify even further, to the point he might not be able to endure it.

With this fear in his mind, he skimmed through all of the memories he has made. The golden age of the Shi clan, its fall, the birth of their son, and even his son's rise to glory. If he could die now from the pain he currently felt , he wouldn't die with his heart filled with regret, but instead be filled with great joy. Alas, he still felt like there was something missing in his heart.

He then knew, that he might not be there when the special event in his mind happens, so he bent down on his knees and shouted to the skies.

"If any heavenly body hears this, just grant me this one wish. I don't care if I die with a heart filled with regret. I don't care if my son didn't tell me that his bloodline awakened, and I don't care about the state of the clan after my disappearance..."

"I just want to see my son becoming victorious in the Year-End Tournament."

Bang!

The sound of thunder could be heard throughout the four corners of the Shi clan walls, signifying that something mystical has occurred. The clan members did not know what, but Shi Xingwan couldn't help but smile and softly say...

"Thank you."

...

Shi clan, Shi Li's courtyard, sunset.

From his awakening until now, Shi Li was cultivating the [Purgatory Hell Shift] because he knew that in order to have a stronger force in his attacks, he would not only have to wield a weapon with higher mass, but also travel at higher speeds.

As of now, Shi Li was trying to attune his body to the elemental world energy of the movement technique, which was fire and earth world energy.

Slowly but surely, small specks of brown and red light started to coalesce into a semi-transparent fog around him, until at a certain point, Shi Li's eyes opened.

At that instant, the world energy surrounding his body converged towards his two feet, forming the silhouette of boots made from lava.

Shi Li hurriedly stood up and looked at his feet, waiting for the boots to turn semi-corporeal, but in the end, the world energy failed to make that happen, dissipating.

Shi Li couldn't help but sigh and feel disappointed as this was his 20th attempt. It took many minutes to gather that much energy without having an energy core, but even with all that effort, it ends up in failure.

"How could I increase its success rate?" Shi Li asked himself.

He sat down and closed his eyes as he pondered on that question, before a spark of inspiration struck him and made him want to try it out at this very moment.

"Since [Purgatory Hell Shift] needs fire and earth, well lava world energy to materialize, how about I make a magma pool near me?"

Shi Li then grabbed the Yin-Yang Hammer from his back and instantly felt that he was holding air instead.

"Eh? That's weird. The Yin-Yang Hammer is always on my back, even when I fainted. Maybe Shi Kuai removed it from my back when he found me," Shi Li got to a conclusion and thought that it was plausible.

He then stood up and checked the ins and outs of his courtyard to find the hammer, finally finding it under his bed.

He pulled it and lifted it up with one hand without breaking a sweat. "I wonder how Shi Kuai was able to lift this up. It weighs 60 ren yet he could drag me and the hammer to my bedroom."

Afterwards, Shi Li went back to the training area and slammed the hammer with his full strength.

"Hah!"

Bang! Rumble...

Not only was a shockwave heard from the slam, but the ground shook as well. Shi Li raised the hammer up, revealing a magma pool that was bigger than the magma pools he would create whenever he used a training hammer.

He looked at his hammer and smiled. "Even though I complained about getting a heavy hammer back then, it seems that it's not so bad after all!"

He then dropped the hammer to the ground as he sat near the magma pool, attuning to the world energy in his surroundings.

As he was attuning himself, he felt a difference between his current situation and his previous situation.

The fire and earth world energy in his surroundings was easier to attune to thanks to the magma pool, unlike before where he had to concentrate on getting a bunch of fire and earth particles, only to end up in failure.

A few minutes later, a fog that was slightly more opaque than his previous attempt circled his body as he felt every individual and fire and earth world energy particle surrounding him. He opened his eyes and commanded each particle to converge towards his feet.

Bang!

At that instant, a semi-corporeal silhouette of flaming boots appeared on Shi Li's feet, before disappearing not long after. Shi Li didn't feel disappointed at all, but he was instead ecstatic.

"I did it! I did it! I was able to form the boots! It won't long until I'm able to make the boots last for a long time!"

With this statement as his motivation, he created more magma pools, allowing him to attune to the fire and earth world energy more easily as he continued to cultivate the technique throughout the night.

...

Shi clan, Shi Li's courtyard, the next day.

The fog covering Shi Li's body was more opaque compared to yesterday, showing that Shi Li's skill in attuning to the elemental world energy has improved. He stood up and let the world energy converge towards his feet once more.

And just like that, a semi-corporeal pair of flaming boots appeared on his feet, overlapping with his real boots. He didn't become ecstatic this time, but rather used it to move throughout the training area.

Fwoosh!

If it took Shi Li around a second to travel 30 meters, then with the movement technique, it would only take him a fraction of the time to do so. Every movement of his was filled with a burning and hot sensation that came from his boots.

Around a minute later, the boots slowly dissipated, revealing Shi Li's real shoes. Shi Li smiled after looking at his feet, muttering, "The boots lasted a few seconds longer this time. That's definitely great."

At that moment, he yawned. "I'm gonna go take a nap for a bit before fixing Shi Kuai's technique."

But suddenly...

Ding!

A notification screen appeared in front of Shi Li, which was something Shi Li wouldn't often get.

At that moment, Shi Li had a question in mind.

"I know what fire and earth affinity is, but what the heck is [Bi-Elemental Affinity]?"
