Chapter 42—Becoming a Pile of Dark Remains

The previously bruised and scarred skin suddenly returned to its previous state, changed beyond recognition.

Mo Qinghan seemed to transform into a completely different person for a moment. Her lips curled upwards and her eyes crinkled in amusement as she stared arrogantly at the commoners.

The crowd had only heard a loud “bang”. The green light around Mo Qinghan’s body seemed to suddenly move under her control, rushing towards the crowd. Those who touched the green light immediately ignited on fire, their bodies spontaneously combusting. The entire street was filled with loud screams and shrieks. Only a few people, realizing that something wasn’t right, managed to run away far enough to avoid being touched by the light.

Everyone else, who had been standing within an about thirty feet radius of the princess, were enveloped by the green light. In the end, they burned to death.

Those who had survived stared at the scene with extreme fear and alarm. Rejoicing that they were still alive, they realized that the rumors seemed to be true.

She really was an immortal that had descended to earth. However, whether she was bringing virtue or disaster, that was hard to tell.

Mo Qinghan slowly rose. Somehow in the chaos, she had changed into a new pair of verdant green robes. Seeing the burnt corpses in front of her, she unexpectedly began laughing. “Hehe, humans are really so stupid and worthless! An immortal’s anger really isn’t anything that you can afford to incur. In the next life, you better hope to be reincarnated as someone intelligent! Hahaha…”

The previously unconscious bodyguard in the front yard was awakened by the sound of screaming. As she opened her eyes, she was greeted with the sight of the Fourth Princess standing in front of the front gates, her verdant green robes billowing in the air, her sleeves swelling with wind. At that moment she looked like a jade lotus, pure and unmarred by dirt and mud.

The bodyguard followed Mo Qinghan’s line of sight. When she had been awakening from sleep, she remembered hearing the sounds of people screaming for help, the screeching sound incessant. The fire had burned through the people’s skins, rendering them into mush, until only a black slag-like material remained…

The bodyguard unconsciously backed away, the scene in front of her eyes too jarring. She didn’t know how these people had been set on fire, or why the fire had been green. The fear that she would also end up like these commoners also plagued her; in the end she could be burned alive into a pile of dark remains.

It was just that her master was still standing there, lost in her laughter. The bodyguard didn’t understand what her master was doing; however, since she was young, she had been conditioned that no matter what or how scared she was, her main priority was protecting her master. The bodyguard struggled to rise to her feet, pushing down the fear in her heart. Slowly she walked towards Mo Qinghan’s direction, quietly saying, “Princess!”

Seeing Mo Qinghan turn around to look at her, the bodyguard became extremely terrified. However Mo Qinghan merely closed her eyes, her body collapsing to the floor. The bodyguard hurriedly grabbed Mo Qinghan, preventing her from falling.

Staring at Mo Qinghan’s closed eyes, the bodyguard shook her head. How was it possible, how could the Fourth Princess possess the eyes of a demon? It wasn’t possible, she must have mistaken it.

Not long after the fire incident happened in the Fourth Princess’s residence, Yue Yao relayed this news to Mo Qingli. After hearing this,  Mo Qingli slammed her palm against the table. The sturdy sandalwood table became incinerated from Mo Qingli’s strike.
