Felicia and Arthur soon arrived at Armana. The sun was still high in the sky when they returned to their home village. Felicia suggested they went to hand in the quest and get the reward at Ol' Smith as soon as possible but Arthur had a differing opinion.

The young man persuaded Felicia to go rest or pay a visit to the village doctor to get a second opinion on the account of her injury. Felicia was touched by Arthur's concern and she agreed. After all, the quest had been completed and the reward was not going to go anywhere. Therefore, they parted at the village entrance and promised to meet up at Ol' Smith later at night for both dinner and the quest reward.

To be truthful, other than his concern for Felicia, there was another reason why Arthur wanted some time to himself. He needed some alone time to do some self or in Arthur's case, "voice" searching. After he bade goodbye to Felicia, Arthur made way for his home.

Dust had settled since he had been gone for days so Arthur gave the place a quick cleaning before he sat down on the bed. Arthur closed his eyes and tried to enter the meditative state like how his patroness had taught him.

For most people, when they entered the meditative state, the outside stimuli like sounds and smell fell away but for Arthur it was completely different. His other senses might fade into the background but his auditory sense became very sensitive. The voices of the people around him like the gossips of the aunties down by the wet market as well as the orders of the commanders at the adventurer's guild quarters; the voices of nature like the sound of the morning dew splashing against the ground, the cockerel announcing the start of a new day, they flooded Arthur's mind.

It was Arthur's job to filter them out and focus on the one that would lead him to the Voice Library. Eventually, he found himself suspended in the sea of voices. Submerged in that state, Arthur knew he had one Echo at his disposal, he collected that during his match with Emile. He looked to see whether any voices jump out at him, or in other words, whether he had come across any voices on his latest quest.

Unfortunately there was none. The only thing remotely related to voices and sounds was the song of the pipe but Arthur guessed that did not count because it was music made from an instrument and not a vocalization of the organic body.

Arthur had an Echo but no new voice to unlock. Other than that, Aoide told Arthur there was a possibility for him to upgrade his existing voice but either vocal materialization did not have that potential or Arthur had not reached the state to upgrade a voice yet. Either way, Arthur could do nothing but put the Echo away for now.

Thankfully, that was not all that he got. The issue though now was whether the pipe was a mythical instrument that would be accepted by Aoide. Arthur would find out soon enough.

Before Arthur entered the meditative state, he placed the wooden pipe on the space before him and he invoked the muse. "Your Grace, I surrender this to thee. Please accept my sacrifice."

Arthur had not done this before so he did not know whether this would work or not. He waited with bated breath and while he could not tell the passing of time while he was in the Voice Library, it felt like a long time had passed before that familiar and powerful female voice echoed in his mind again.

"Ah," The goddess exclaimed with evident surprise, "The Piped Piper's Pipe. This is a wonderful find, you have done well."

Then, Arthur felt the pipe take shape within the Voice Library as it was lifted up and pulled into the sea of voices. 'Transporting an object from the physical world into the psychological world and then making it disappear, I suppose if you're a God, nothing is impossible,' Arthur thought.

After a while, Arthur could hear the song of the pipe being played in his mind. The song sounded similar to the one he heard at the manor but much more powerful and intense in terms of its magic. It felt like his soul was about to drift away following its captivating melody. The Red Mother probably had not unlocked the instrument to its full potential so that was why it only affected the children and not Arthur and Felicia.

It appeared like the goddess was appraising the instrument but it was not an enjoyable experience for Arthur. Just as the young man felt like he was going to get detached from his soul, the music stopped. The goddess concluded, "Fabulous instrument, my disciple, you shall be rewarded accordingly."

Then, Arthur realized that he had gained a new power. The first power he obtained from Aoide was the access to the Voice Library and the voice magic. The second power Aoide bestowed upon him was a new way to utilize his voice.

[Voice Throwing]

Description: Allow the voice users to magically deposit his or her voice elsewhere. Effective range is 30 metres.

The ability might not sound that powerful on paper but its real potential would be revealed when it was used in conjunction with his varying voices.

"It is time for me to depart. You are doing well, my disciple. Continue to make sure that your voice is heard." The goddess sounded like she was departing but at the last minute, she turned back to say, "Right, the other divine beings have heard about our contract and they might be sending their disciples your way to challenge you. Like in theater, many fight for the spot of the prima donna but only one shall shine. I hope it's you, my disciple."

Before Arthur could really get a sense of what the goddess meant, she had already disappeared and Arthur was kicked out from his meditative state.
