Black Fire Imps approached him from all sides…

Duncan wasted no time, and opened up the golden chest after the arrows fired down…

A glowing light sprinkled out of the chest, and Bernie jumped forward to stop the Imps... Unfortunately, he was was spearheaded into the wall by the large wave of imps…

As for Alberta, he fought valiantly, and his sword clashed against his head as he flew down a gorge next to the mine pathway…

Whomever invented this challenge, they clearly didn't expect for a necromancer to take this type of a approach, and… Duncan picked up a button he found in the bottom of the chest…

Was this a treasure that deserved thousands of demons dying over the course of millennia?

It wasn't hard to figure out this challenge had been around for ages, and some of the armor had rotted on the skeletons...

It took years for armor to rot, perhaps over a billion, and all for a button?

[Ding! This appears to not be just any button... Host is recommended to push the button, or the tide of imps may devour host....]

"Seriously... a button!" Duncan felt so peeved, and didn't want to believe this was all this challenge held...

He didn't even know why he left the beach...

This was such a waste of time, an arc of his life... for a button!

He saw hundreds of imps running towards him at this time, and… he began to wonder if he should summon Phoenix in order to at least get some experience from this wasted trip...

Phoenix had taken his third low grade starlight elixir in a row, and its power had grown so much he might soon develop an essence core...

Absolutely a waste of time!

"Wormy! Please protect your master as he checks the chest one more time..."

[Ding! Wormy used poison venom, and has poisoned 25 goblins!]

[Ding! Wormy has killed one enemy combatant, black fire imp, and appears to have fired up the berserk mode of the imps…]

[Ding! Wormy has decided to run for it, and host appears to be safe…]

Duncan sighed, and kicked away one black fire imp crawling towards his leg… It had a higher power level than him, and after stabbing it too, he kicked it over the edge…

"Hmph, seriously though, I came all the way here, and a button!"

Duncan finally pushed the button a second later, and… it did absolutely nothing!

Wait... he heard something... and the systems arrow changed directions..

[Ding! It appears host has opened up a secret cave in the tunnel, and Wormy has been killed by the black fire imps…]

[Please leave as soon as possible, or the doorway will close, and also system has received some news from Phoenix's location…]

"Alright… I'm going…" Duncan walked into the tunnel, and the doorways shut…

Wait… he was back at the entrance of the mine, and… why did he only get a button?

Everyone stared at him… and the cleaning crew tried to dump his body off the mountain…

However, he resisted, and… everyone on the line hunched over and left with downcast expression riddled on their faces…

It seemed like their entire worlds were destroyed, and he felt a breeze against his leg...

"Uhm… who did I kill?" Duncan was being smiled at all of a sudden, and… a very old looking man with amber skin walked over to him with a hunched back and a sword like cane…

He wasn't here before, and he had a human looking appearance…

Did he just appear because he pressed the button?

The crew at the doorway bowed, and the man smiled as Duncan looked at him with curiosity...

He looked back at him with a look of pride, and then Duncan felt a strange sensation in his gut...

"Ha, your lucky mother! You're the first in a thousand years…" Duncan felt himself tossed on the floor, and where did he land?

He clearly wasn't on a mountain top, and… did they teleport?

If they teleported, that was very bad…

Only gods could teleport, and… the man held up Wormy in the air as it squirmed…

"So… I did my research on you right now, and you're a necromancer…"

"Those are one in a billion, so you still must have something else special about you?" He leaned into Duncan, and then laughed before pointing him forward towards a cave…

Suddenly, Duncan felt like if he didn't move, he'd be destroyed in an instant...

In feigned fear, his knees shook and he looked over the edge of the mountain?

Perhaps if he jumped, he'd have a higher chance of surviving?

"Relax, you're still on the Monte Vernon Islands, and this is the second challenge for the ultimate manual in our sects history... If you pass, you'll receive the skill book manual, which some consider a cheat of the netherworlds…"

"It's the only rare epic beginners book in this world, so... would you stop thinking about killing yourself?"

Duncan laughed and slowly began asking the system what to do in his own way... "Uhm… system… is he telling the truth?"

[Ding! System wouldn't dare try and sense this man's energy, or host would surely be killed… Just from the vibrations in the ground around host, it appears this mans stronger than Enna by several times…]

[System recommends you stop pausing, and begin walking towards the cave…]

"Shoot… alright system…" Luckily, they communicated through his consciousness still, and Phoenix leveled up again…

There surrounding him stood huge rock golems, and Duncan listened to their waved forward arms…

[Ding! Host has entered into a place not into the systems database…]

[Ding! System recommends learning new skill, corpse explosion, or else hosts chances of dying will exponentially increase!]
