"Do you think you can last?" Within the training area of the space stone, Taf questioned while looking at May with a serious expression displayed on his face.

May returned his gaze and within her eyes a steely determined look could be seen. She then replied,

" You truly underestimate me Taf. Do you really think I won't be able to last a mere twelve minutes of you going all out? Sure a week ago you didn't use any of your killing moves but I have a little surprise for you."

"Really?" Taf became curious as to what May's last words meant. What surprise could she possibly have in store? Seeing how she was oozing with confidence he became even more intrigued.

Boom!

May's qi ignited while the temperature around her plummeted.  Soon Taf felt droplets of now falling snow on his face. When looking up he saw May and within her hands was a bronze bow now nocked with an arrow pointed at him below.

????

If one were to look at the training area comparing it to what it was previously, it would be quite the contrasting imagery. The springs were frozen in ice and trees scorched to a crisp, this area was one which seemingly played host to the battle of both fire and ice, but who was the victor?

As blue ice fell like clumps from Taf's nearly half-frozen body he stood in contemplation. Blood trickled down his right arm however he ignored the pain while he eyed May who had collapsed before him. He had cushioned here fall by summoning a few pillows beneath.

Taf then looked at the time to see seventeen minutes had passed. Still on May's face was the determined look hidden within a bit of sadness. As she slowly drifted off becoming totally unaware of her surroundings with her face now relaxing.

" That art is terrifying. No matter how powerful you are, you're still vulnerable, if i didn't...",

Taf looked at his arm that was bleeding profusely seeing the indents of teeth marks. Knowing fully well this was the means he had assured himself of victory. Find authorized novels in Webnovel, faster updates, better experience,Please click www.webnovel.com for visiting.

" I truly did underestimate you."

There was a bit of guilt in Taf's voice as he spoke but inside it was as though a burden had been lifted and an added confidence born.

" it does take its toll apparently similar to my own art but with harsher effects seeing as May's qi is more limited."

Soon the two disappeared and then reappeared in a room as May was placed upon a bed.

?????

It was now morning and true to form the city was a buzz. Day or night it did not matter as Starlight City was one to always be bustling with activity. Outside of the western walls of the city, there were three blue sparrows and on their backs were the five members of Squad Ava.

" I've informed City Lord Jimenez of all that has occurred. According to him, he had no reason to suspect his advisor Kathy of any ill-doings at the time. The poor fellowing is seemingly heartbroken by the betrayal."

Ava spoke with her hand on a communicator in her ear. On the other end of the line were her fellow squad leaders Malgrey and Malnor.

" Ok, Ava we'll go with your plan, Seeing both yourself and Malgrey have outvoted me. We'll first scout the three confirmed high risked areas. After our targets have been spotted, each squad will then strike simultaneously killing all threats." Malnor replied.

The eastern walls were the location of his squad who awaited their next move as the leaders conversed. They were mounted atop three multicolored nightjars with red pupils.

" Squad Malgrey is ready whenever you both are, just give the signal." Malgrey too chimed in as his squad was located to the north.

" Aren't you the eager one? Try not to get all your members killed, won't you? Not that I care but we from the Dark Abylis Sect have a reputation to uphold after all."

Muffed laughter could be heard in the ears of Malnor and Malgrey. It was Ava who simply couldn't resist throwing a jive Malgrey's way.

Hearing her laughter Malnor could only shake his head in annoyance as sometimes this woman's attitude could be insufferable and Malgrey would always seemingly take the bait.

" Let's try to remain focused, won't we? Check-in when you are in sight after which we begin." He took the reigns of leadership under his belt.

"Agreed!' Both Malgrey and Ava responded.

?????

At the most northern walls outside Starlight City Malgrey stood beside his white Hawk while looking at the squad.

There was evident excitement with tinges of anxiety and nervousness within their eyes.

He too went through a plethora of emotions as a few thoughts weighed on his mind. This would be the most dangerous challenge they would yet face and he was their leader.

His confidence wavered slightly as Ava's words echoed in his ears but soon another voice made itself even more overbearing uttering,

" Be the shepherd, grow a pair."

As the voice disappeared he saw a Taf yawning.

He was atop the back of a red-feathered eagle who seemed on the verge of a breakthrough given a bit of time. To his side too was the ever-present May who appeared half-asleep with her eyes continuously shutting.

Then his confidence grew as the desire to gain the best out of his squad was formed.

" Ok listen up!" Malgrey hollered at the top of his lungs.

All looked at the robust man with fiery hair as they patiently waited for him to disclose his orders.

" Today there will be no heroes, there will be no individuals but there will be a squad."

As Malgrey spoke he eyed the members who hung to his every word, He then questioned,

"What does it mean to be a squad?", after which he seemingly answered his own question,

"I'll tell you its meaning. It means to be apart of a circular whole that never feels to be truly complete without all components."

He then made his way over to Lovren,  Cameron, and Luke putting his hand on their shoulders one after the other before he uttered with a smile.

The three were a bit startled by Malgrey new found mannerism. He wasn't normally the type for speeches.

'It means to supplement my brother's weakness."

Then to Nieshi who at the moment was polishing the blades of her broad sword, he said with a grin,

"It means to bolster my sister's strength."

Knowing his intend she smiled encouragingly after which he then looked in the direction of both Taf and May who had been listening to him speak

"It means to be a part of a pride. Though some might be new to this pride we welcome them wholeheartedly.

All the members heralded Malgrey's sentiments, even lovren though he only nodded in the two's direction

" Of the three squads we are the youngest and are the most inexperience which gives rise to the naysayers."

As he spoke the need to prove themselves within his squad member's eyes.

" We lack experience but 'heart" that I know you have in abundance. So let's go forth."

Malgrey then jumped on the back of the red-feathered as he was joined by Luke, lovren and the blonde-haired Cameron.

" Enough of flowery words today you earn your stripes!"

Niesha yelled as she made her way in the direction to one of the demon beasts. Seeing they had an additional demon beast Niesha joined both Taf and May on the Hammerhead's back with the long broad sword which looked odd in her petite hands.

Swoosh!!

Both the white hawk and Hammerhead ascended into the darkening skies.

To be continued....
