She had a serious expression, and looked at the dust like it was shit.

Then she used the boost granted from the armor to jump away, and the sky turned again dark, the humans started to move once again, and everything seemed like nothing happened.

Those "Specialists", have only 2 gifts, and that is being able to see 4th Dimensional Beings like the Devourers with naked eyes, and they are immune to the Devourers' ability to create another dimension, they don't get stronger or anything else.
Then there is this group of people who collect those "Specialists" and train them, Xiao Mei is one of those people trained, and she is using a cyber armor made only for her to kill the Devourers.
It is basically like Sailor Moon but with more weapons, the Devourers are a 4th Dimensional race that likes to prey on humans, they go around many different Mortal Worlds to devour everyone, even if they don't dare to enter the Lower Worlds for fear of cultivators.
Even if cultivators are unable to sense them or even look at them until they reach the Immortal Sense stage, their powers alone could dwarf almost any Devourer.
Devourers are classified in strength based on their shapes, the abomination-like devourers are the weakest, the animal-shaped devourers are at the middle, and human-like devourers are at the apex, being able to destroy a city within 1 hour, they are as strong as Xiao Qiangwei right now.
The stronger they are, the smarter they get, and the more dangerous they are, this is why they are feared from the people who know them who aren't cultivators.

A human shaped grey monster was walking back and forth, with his hands behind his back and in front of a giant monitor.
Devourer: That goddamn human… How do we explain that we don't have her bloody son when she would not believe us?! If she knew that her son isn't with us she could calm down, and we would not lose so many… Tsk.
Then an animal shaped monster talked.
Devourer(Animal): We could use this situation at our advantage.
Devourer(Human): There is a reason that I am smarter than you, you damn lowlife. We can't do it otherwise she would go berserk at us, does she look like she would not kill you immediately if you tell her that we would kill her non-existent son if she doesn't obey?
