The Marquess’s Amnesia Chapter 2 Part 1

I exhaled and cleaned up the thread and cut off the excess thread with scissors.

The finished product is a cushion cover. The embroidery with summer flowers was very beautiful thanks to the colourful threads. Send it to the orphanage bazaar to add to the operating costs. Sewing, including embroidery, is my only special skill without a handle.

It’s already been a year since I got married to my husband and married the Marquis family.

Located to the west of the continent, the Kingdom of Cresion has a large and rich territory and is a very peaceful country now, years after the end of the war.

My husband, who is the division leader of the 1st Division, who protects the royal capital in the Verite Knights, which reports to the royal family who governs the Clairesion, rarely returns to the mansion. As far as I know, he has only returned five times in the past year. Four of them, he came back late at night and went out without waiting for the dawn, so I didn’t even meet him. Then, he came back just after dinner once, so I met him, but he told me that I didn’t have to do it again, so I couldn’t see him off after.

Recalling that time, I felt a little depressed and shook my head in a hurry. Then I saw my pale golden hair falling from my shoulder. I have blonde hair which is a light-colored hair, and it is said to be yellow in the sense of silver. In addition, my gray eyes were as dull as the cloudy sky. It’s a something that can’t be said to be cute or beautiful, and it’s very different from my beautiful stepmother or sister. They have beautiful walnut-colored hair and very beautiful features.

Nevertheless, I had no decent dowry because my biological mother died so I had no real support.  I have no knowledge as an aristocratic daughter and I can not even socialize, which is the job of an aristocratic wife. There are too many disadvantages to accept me as a wife, except for convenience. Therefore, it is inevitable for my husband to avoid me.

However, my husband has been very good to me.

We don’t meet or exchange words. I don’t get any presents or flowers, but it’s thanks to my husband that I can live without any inconvenience. When I told my maid that my hobby is sewing, she prepared me a good sewing tool. Besides, except for my husband’s study and bedroom in this mansion, I can walk around freely, and he doesn’t get angry when I go out to the garden. It’s my secret pleasure to take a walk in the garden with Elsa about once every three days.

When I was at my parents’ house, I was only allowed to leave the room when I went to the library once a week or when my parents or sister called me, so it’s very refreshing.

So I am very, very grateful to my husband.

I was undoubtedly the daughter of Count Eighton, who has a long history, but my mother, Catherine, died when I was six months old, and my father, Laimos, had been keeping a mistress before he married my mother. He never loved me and welcomed his mistress as his second wife before the mourning of my mother.

My father’s mistress, who has been married from the Baron to the Count as his second wife, is called Sandra. From their point of view, I am just a stepdaughter, and from their earliest memories, I was hated. Even so, it was true that I was my father’s daughter, so one day I had a tutor from 5 to 7 years old who arranged to marry me as a piece of political marriage. However, the incident that happened when I was seven left an ugly scar on my body, and I lost any value as an aristocratic daughter. Still, my dad and stepmother never abandoned me, but it was true that I was an ugly daughter. So, except for going in and out of the library, I was basically ordered to spend time in a given room in a corner of the mansion.

I have a half-sister who is several months older and a half-brother seven years younger. My sister hated me, but my brother loved me so much that he rarely see my parents and sister, and came to see me all the time. The fun at my parents’ house was to meet my brother Cedric. The servants were sick of whether they were merciful to me or Cedric was cute, so my parents and sister, who tended to be away, didn’t know that.

Cedric was a very kind child and loved his ugly sister from the bottom of his heart. The successor to the Count family had a good tutor, but Cedric was also a wise boy who taught his ignorant sister what he had learned.

Cedric was lonely when my marriage was decided, but only that child gave me a congratulations.

I still receive the letter only once a month. I have a desire to respond to Cedric who wants to see my sister, but I am married to the Marquis family, and I cannot return to my parents’ house without the permission of my husband, nor can I invite guests, even my younger brother. And above all, my parents wouldn’t like Cedric seeing me. I wrote to Cedric’s friend, the Countess’s horseman apprentice boy’s house, and had him hand it over to Cedric directly. I can only write a letter once a month because it may get caught if the frequency increases.

My parents love only my eldest sister, so the only concern I have with my wife in the Marquis family is the important Cedric. I’m only worried if I’m feeling lonely or sad.

The modest knocking sound raised my consciousness, which was swallowed by the whirlpool of thought, and replied, “Please,” and raised my face.

“Excuse me. Miss, I brought you some afternoon tea.”

It was my exclusive maid, Elsa, who came in. She comes here while pushing the wagon. I put the needles and threads of embroidery into a sewing box with a nice floral design. The white wood sewing box is engraved with various flowers of soft wood grain on the lid and sides. Each one is carefully colored and is a very beautiful and cute sewing box.

Elsa wears a small headdress with white frills, with her flaxen hair tied up behind her without any gaps. The dress is based on black, the puff sleeves and white round collar are cute, and the white apron with frills and the skirt length up to the ankles are elegant. The other maid’s ribbon is white, but the red ribbon with the white lily embroidery that decorates Elsa’s neck is proof that she is my maid.

“Today, the chef made his wife’s favorite strawberry tart.”

Elsa smiled and the plate she put in front of me had a strawberry tart on it. The glossy red strawberries, soft yellow custard cream and white whipped cream are beautiful, and you can tell that they are delicious just by looking at them.

“Thank you, Elsa. Please thank the chef Fille.”

“Yes. Excuse me, Miss.”

With that said, Elsa also sat down on the sofa opposite me. There is also the same strawberry tart and tea as mine in front of her.
