Qai turned his back as he was about to leave the scene, when suddenly a large battlecry echoed in the air coupled with a strong burst of poisonous aura.

He looked back and saw the snake quickly threw its huge body towards Mo Shui constricting her movement.

The snake coiled around her tightly and gestured its head with a dropped jaw as if about to release a fatal attack.

Mo Shui was about to cry out loud in pain, but Qai quickly commanded Shandian to attack while he simultaneously released three arrows.

'Swooosh,' 'swooosh,' 'swoooosh.'

'Rooaaaar.'

'Baaam,' 'baaam,' 'baaam.'

One by one, the arrows slicked through the neck of the snake and stunned its movement. Shandian meanwhile activated its 'Thunder Claw' slicing through the snake's wide opened jaw.

The effect of the sudden attacks from the two wasn't much but it at least instantly pushed the snake to release the almost asphyxiated body of Mo Shui.

She jumped few steps backwards after being freed gasping for air and quickly swallowed some healing pills.

As soon as she recovered, Mo Shui gestured her arms and activated her third skill. It was 'Ice Wall.'

She surrounded the snake with huge walls on all four corners to lock its movement coupled with freezing effect. Then she gathered a strong Qi and activated a full blown 'Sword Mist.'

Qai and Shandian, who realized the situation, took the opportunity and relentlessly attacked the snake trapped inside the iced walls.

'Booom,' 'booom,' 'booom.'

'Roaaar.'

'Swooosh,' 'swooosh.'

'Baaam,' 'baaam.'

Mo Shui tried to replenish the walls everytime the snake attempted to break free.

The three didn't stop attacking until the snake goes down. They can't simply miss the opportunity.

After half an hour of fighting, the Qi of the three were greatly depleted but the snake finally succumb to the onslaught and eventually met its doom.

Qai, Shandian and Mo Shui silently fell down just in front of the snake gasping for a breath of fresh air. They were so exhausted but their concerted effort was truly a success.

Mo Shui knew she would probably die had Qai not timely helped. She felt bad for eagerly wanting to prove her strength by attempting to attack a Sage realm demonic beast--practically a whole stage beyond her strength.

***************

They weren't saying a word for a moment but when Mo Shui was about to open her mouth to tell Qai something, Mo Chen, Shu Wei and the rest of the elders suddenly appeared before them.

"That was dangerous Shui'er..," the Patriarch said with a reprimanding look on his face. "..a hard-fought battle, nonetheless."

Mo Shui just looked away shamefully and didn't say a word.

Mo Chen gestured his hand directing something to an elder who quickly understood what it meant.. the elder nodded and took out some replenishing pills from his ring--and dished them out to the three.

All of them glanced at the state of the snake while one of the elders quickly grabbed his dagger and dissected it to take its core and other valuable beast parts.

Thereafter, Qai, Mo Shui and Shandian finally gathered their strengths.. they stood up and approached the elders ready to report their hunt by attempting to show the beast cores they collected.

The patriarch shook his head and said, "there's no need to determine who won."

Mo Chen took out from his spatial ring a long bow with intricate designs made of Darkwood trunk. He lowered his body to meet Qai face to face.

"I can't thank you enough for what you did to Shui'er," he said. "If there's anything more I can do for you.. please let me know."

It was obvious that the patriarch doted his great granddaughter much.

Mo Chen handed Qai the bow. In response, Qai bowed down as he received the Darkwood Composite Bow. He then slowly slid his hand on the bow trying to get a feel from it. Afterwhich, he bowed down once again and said his thanks.

"It's shameful that I wanted to test your strength.. and in so doing, I unintentionally put Shui'er in danger," Mo Chen said. "It's all on me."

"Please.. tell me what you need," he insisted. "I won't take a 'no' for an answer."

Clearly, the patriarch didn't want to be indebted to anyone and wanted to repay what he owed at once.

Qai thought for a moment then glanced at his father's proud look.

"If it's not much...," Qai said, then he paused and rubbed his nose. "As you know.. my father just recently entered sage realm.. he nee.."

"Ho ho ho," Mo Chen chuckled.

Qai hadn't finished his words when Mo Chen interrupted. He immediately understood what Qai meant.

"You have an interesting son indeed, Little Wei... you have raised him well," Mo Chen said. "Why don't we go back first to the clan and see what I can get for you."
