Few days later an unfamiliar messenger came to 'The Hunters' Plateau,' in haste.

"Greetings to the head of the Shu family," the messenger opened with a slight bow.

"Welcome dear guest.. May I have the pleasure to ask who might you be? And what brings you to our plateau?" Shu Wei politely inquired.

"I come from the Han Valley in behalf of the town chief," the messenger replied.

"Oh!?"

***************

Shu Wei invited the messenger for a cup of tea in the family's main manor to which the guest obliged.

The messenger was a bit surprised to see the Storm Bear at the peak of Sky stage inside the manor's hall. He had already seen the two Silvermoon apes roaming around the plateau when he came—so his initial thought was that the Shu family must be fond of the 'Beast Taming' skill.

The messenger had got lost in his thoughts when he saw Shu Wei waiting for him to say a thing.

"Ahem," the messenger spoke after taking a sip.

"Master Shu Wei..," he said, "I was actually sent by the town head to extend to you an invitation.."

"An invitation!?" Shu Wei replied with curled brows.

"Yes, that is correct..," the messenger answered. "Few of the big families participated in the wasteland a year ago.. and.."

The Han Valley messenger paused and took another sip from the cup of tea Bing brewed before he continued.

"And many of them witnessed the success of that occasion.. and we are of the belief that your family played an important role in it..," he explained.

"That's not the real case..," She Wei humbly said. "Our family merely took the opportunity to make use of the occasion for us to earn a bit.."

"But that's not the way many of us saw it," the messenger insisted.

Shu Wei didn't want to push his point although he felt most of the feedbacks concerning the Shu family's participation was exaggerated.

"From the way things last year were concluded..," the messenger went on, "..your Shu family's reputation has obviously risen by leaps and bounds."

"Is that so!?" Shu Wei asked in reply. "But that was the least of our concerns really.. we were just there to take advantage of the situation of our plateau.."

What Shu Wei said was actually true. The Shu family did not intentionally plan to become instantly big in a sense.

In fact, Shu Wei was first and foremost cautious to make a name for the family and appear arrogant without real strength to back it up. This also explained why the entire family was in some sort of rush to raise the family's strength. The last thing Shu Wei wanted was to indirectly offend some clans or families.

"Well, be that as it may, you still did one hell of a job," the messenger remarked. "'The Hunters' Plateau' is now not someone we could just offend."

"And that is exactly what I came here for?" he said.

"Eh!?"

***************

Qai was busily helping Xiao Ning tending in the Herb Garden when Shen came rushing.

For the entire past year, there wasn't any out of ordinary thing that occurred around the plateau. There had been occasional guests in the inn every now and then but that was all about it.

"Big brother Qai.. big brother Qai," Shen called.

"Little Shen," Qai anwered. "What's with the rush?"

"The family head has called for you," Shen said.

'Oh, I wonder why does father have a need for me?' Qai thought.

Qai was apparently unaware of the presence of the Han Valley guest in the manor. In truth, his father couldn't help but seek what Qai had to say about the request of the messenger—that was why he was summoned.

"Alright, little Shen let's go.."

***************

When Qai arrived in the hall of the family manor, he was surprised to see an unfamiliar guest.

"Greetings, young master Shu Qai..," the Han Valley guest remarked.

"Oh..," Qai was surprised that he was easily recognized.

"Greetings esteemed guest," he replied.

Seeing how Qai's reaction showed a face of unexpectedness, the messenger instantly tried to ease the doubt.

"Young master..," he said, "..your name actually precedes you.."

Qai was even more shocked by the remarks—he wasn't sure if the guest was just trying to buy his favor.

"You actually made a name for yourself last year.. such feat would not go unnoticed by many clans and families..," the guest explained.

"I may not be right..," he added, "..but I guess some of the clans or even the Purple Mist Sect are considering the possibility of recruiting you.."

So far, none had really come to visit the family with such intent and Qai thought, with those words, that the messenger must have that kind of intent.

But Qai was actually wrong.

"You don't have to worry, young master..," the messenger quickly said seeing how awkward Qai's face was when he said something about recruitment.

"I did not come here to recruit you."
