Jayde waited impatiently beside Reiko as he spoke with the dying drakaina. Entering her storage ring she double checked her healing supplies. Jayde was also really worried about the two little wyrmlings lying next to their mother, from the time she and Reiko had entered the cavern the little dragons hadn't moved. They just lay listlessly by their mother's side.
[Jayde, Yinxin [1] is grateful to accept your help]
Yinxin? Must be the drakaina name, Jayde thought.
Approaching Yinxin, Jayde bowed slightly.
"Greetings Lady Yinxin, my name is Jayde," she said respectfully, Jayde wasn't sure if Yinxin would be able to understand her or speak to her telepathically like Kameko, but she felt that she should show this beautiful Draco respect.
Jayde only had one advanced healing potion on her. Isha had warned her that is very valuable and rare and was only available in the Mid Realm. He had cautioned her to only use it when it was absolutely necessary.
Kneeling down, Jayde tried to fed the potion to Yinxin, but she was too weak to lift her head, Jayde moved into a sitting position, placing the healing potion next her, she then used all her strength to lift Yinxin head onto her lap, then gently opening Yinxin mouth, she slowly poured the healing potion down her throat, she did want to waste a drop of the precious healing potion.
Since Reiko had told her that the Direwolves had fed on Yinxin blood, Jayde assumed that besides being injured she must be suffering from blood loss, she had some blood replenishing medicinal pills on her, she wasn't sure if they would be of any help, if she had been in the Federation she would have been able to synthesize Yinxin blood and give her a blood transfusion, but here all she could do was rely on these medicinal pills.
Feeding two of the blood replenishing pills to Yinxin, Jayde tried to gauge if her treatments were working. Lifting her hand she gently placed in on Yinxin forehead, she didn't feel as cold as she had before, hoping this was a good sign Jayde decided to observe Yinxin for a while before giving her any more potions.
While monitoring Yinxin, Jayde came to the decision that if she was accepted into a magical school she was going to study medicine, this was the second time that she had run into a severely wounded creature and she didn't have the knowledge or skills to help. She still regretted that she was unable to save Kameko.
While she had basic medical training, her skills were based on dealing with wounded Centauri, which did not require much knowledge, as the Centauri were designed to be hardy with advanced self-healing abilities, she never had to learn how to diagnose her patients, as like most Centauri she had been implanted with a medical scanner that would carry out the diagnoses, and then give her a list of treatments required.
Most times it was slapping on synbandage or injecting nanobots to carry out repairs if a Centauri was too badly damaged for her limited skills, she would then place them in stasis and wait for medical backup, right now her skills seemed really inadequate for what she was dealing with.
At this moment she would give anything to have her medical scanner. Placing her hand back on Yinxin forehead, Jayde felt no change, if anything she felt like Yinxin was getting worse she turned to look at Reiko.
Reiko felt Jayde gaze, looking at Jayde his eyes were filled with sadness and helplessness.
[It not working Jayde, she is slipping away, her energy is too depleted]
Reiko was heartbroken, he couldn't believe that he had met a mythically silver dragon, only to have to watch her die. He didn't blame Jayde as he saw her feed Yinxin the advanced healing potion, which was supposed to be a life-saving grace for her, and he overheard Isha telling Jayde that she wouldn't be able to find another one in the Lower Realm.
[She is the last of her kind on Telia] Reiko said sadly.
[What!] Jayde shrieked, causing a sharp pain to lance through Reiko's mind.
[How come? What about the father?] Jayde didn't know much about dragons, but surely they were like other creatures and it took both a male and female to breed.
[Humans] Reiko spat out hatefully.
[They killed her mate and injured her — that is how the Direwolves were able to capture her, humans have hunted and killed her kin here until only she and her mate were left — they were the last two silver dragons left on Telia. The silver dragons here on Telia were hunted to extinction just like they were on Doha, and when she dies her wyrmling will too, they are too young to survive without her.] Reiko said wearily.
[But why?] Jayde wouldn't understand why anyone would want to kill such a beautiful creature.
[Because silver dragons are a living treasure] Reiko answered matter-of-factly. He knew Jayde didn't understand, so he explained it to her.
[Nearly every part of a silver dragon is a precious treasure to humans... and beasts. Their scales are used to create armor, as it reflects back magic attacks, their horns can cure any poisons, their blood is a potent healing elixir and can increase cultivation tenfold, their bones and claws can be reforged into powerful weapons, their wings make the softest leathers that are impenetrable to the sharpest blades, their flesh can increase your lifespan and their tears...]
Reiko's voice choked up when he started to talk about the tears of a dragon.

Listening to Reiko rattle off the benefits of a silver dragon body, Jayde could understand why greedy people would hunt them, but she still found it horrific — they were a sentient species. If there was one thing Jayde couldn't tolerate was when one species exploited another for its own benefit. She had seen enough of it in the Federation, Jayde was furious just thinking about how silver dragons had been so badly harmed on two planets just because of greed.
Through his bond with Jayde, Reiko could feel Jayde's disgust and fury over the harm done to the silver dragons, she still after a year of being together surprised him. When he was listing the benefits of the silver dragons, not once did she covet the treasures of the silver dragon instead, she was furious about their treatment. It made him grateful that his mother had made Jayde contract with him, she truly was a unique human.
