Angel packed the last bit of food in a makeshift backpack she had made from animal skins. Don had insisted that they moved on from the cave because apparently, he knew somewhere better to spend the night. Angel felt herself growing closer to him the past few days, despite his temperamental and cocky nature. He had even taught her a few flying tricks, Angel would be sad to leave the cave, even though they had only spent a week or so in the sheltered rock formation Angel felt like she was in a funny dream.

Angel decided to take a walk in the forest below, Don had trusted her enough to start taking walks as long as she got back within a couple of hours and carried a weapon. Angel crossed a small stream and wandered over to a smooth rock jutting up from the ground, she lay on the rock and thought about various things. Angel was thinking about her mother and how much she missed her, a sudden noise came from a tree near her. Not thinking too much about it, she sprung up and pulled out the bow she had fashioned from wood to hunt small game.

A bear emerged from the thicket, it stared at Angel with small brown beady eyes. Its fur was shaggy and decorated with an assortment of twigs and leaves, Angel looked with astonished eyes as the bear crept closer. It walked closer and closer to her until it was almost touching her, it sniffed her and looked into her eyes. Angel was confused for a second until she remembered the food she had packed in her little fur bag, she laughed "you're a hungry one aren't you!" she said, reaching into the folds of her bag. The bear sat on its haunches and at that moment did something that made Angel gasp, it nodded at her. She stood for a second with a branch of berries in her hand " d-do you understand me?" she said, barely any more than a whisper. The bear nodded and gave her a toothy grin, the last thing Angel saw was the world tilting at a funny angle before she fainted on the bear.

Don flew over the forest, worry etched on his face in the form of a frown "silly girl, probably got lost!" he muttered. Then he saw a bright flash of colour, which could only be the Angels dress. He raced towards it and was met by a bear pacing around groaning, he froze when he saw Angel laying on the ground crumpled "WHAT DID YOU DO!?" he yelled angrily at the bear and was about to kill it when it shook its head and pointed at her chest. In his worry and anger Don had forgotten to check if she was breathing, the sight of her chest rising and falling slowly was enough to bring tears of joy to his face.

Angels eyes fluttered open, she was immediately met with two worried faces peering down at her. She recognised Don's face and was about to say something when she realized that the bear was still leaning over her, she shook her head and got up. "no, no, no" she said. Then she took off into the sky, Don chased after her. Even with being caged for years he was still the better flyer and caught up with ease. Angel slowed down when he grabbed her arm, he flew her over to a ledge and they landed gently. As soon as Angel was sitting he burst "wanna tell me what that was all about? You shouldn't be so selfish to go out into the forest so late for so long! other people care about you too you know" he stared at her in a huff. Angel was shocked for a second before a smug smile came onto her face "you care about me?" she asked innocently. Don's eyes widened and a blush spread on his cheeks "I-I didn't s-say that!" he said, trying to sound grumpy even though he was quite flustered.

Angel smiled sweetly and took a deep breath "okay so the reason I ran away is..." she looked at him for a second, being satisfied in what she saw she took another deep breath "don't call me crazy but the bear talked to me" she said in a rush. Don seemed to think for a moment before muttering to himself "her powers are developing quicker than I thought", he thought Angel hadn't heard him but she did. He looked up at Angel "okay well I think that's enough drama for one night, I don't know about you but I'm pretty hungry" he said, Angel was about to question him, but something stopped her from saying anything. Her eyebrows furrowed as they started the long flight back to the cave for the last night...
