They've been driving for an hour now, not too much has happened to them. Many beasts are fighting for territory, they've seen other lizards, scorpions, spiders, snakes, and birds all fighting for dominance, specifically in areas with a lot of vegetation.

Every now and then they would have to wait for a fight to finish and hope for the beast to go back into the vegetation, or just try to make it around the fighting.

The loser's corpses might be laying by the side of the road, its blood soaking the ground. They've even seen some beasts feeding on the corpses, it is survival of the fittest now.

Lachlan has been able to analyse a lot of these beasts. However, his family are scared that it may haunt him, seeing all the blood and body parts scattered across the ground and trees. Chloe knew Lachlan had a rather childish mind, seeing all this gore might be too much for him.

He has noticed a few trends which almost every beast followed. The most common level his seen has been level 0. And his only come across a dozen level 1s and only 2 level 2s. The highest level he has seen was a level 3 snake.

However, aside from that one incident Lachlan hasn't come across any other level 3 beasts. But aside from that, he's been busy making sure Sarah doesn't cry, keeping her entertained.

*Bang*Crash*Hsss*Thump Thump Thump*Hsss*

Going around a bend in the road they came across two beasts fighting in front of them on the road, they were taking up the whole thing. It was a Snake and a Kangaroo. Lachlan finally managed to see a fight and was trembling with excitement, in his sight were two beasts in miserable conditions. Two beasts that he could finally analyse.

The Kangaroo's legs had been ripped off and thrown to the side, blood splattered across the ground whenever it moved. It has cuts and scratches covering its body, it's surprising it can even stand. The thumping must've come from the Kangaroo's tail, slamming against the ground trying to hit the Snake.

The Kangaroo stood 3 metres tall, its light brown fur soaked in blood.

The Snake was also in no better condition, it seemed to have had one of its fangs ripped out. Some parts across the Snake's body were completely crushed, most likely hit by the Kangaroo's tail or foot.

Taking this opportunity Lachlan quickly analysed them.

The snake was roughly 7 metres long, it had an entirely silver belly and slithered across the ground.

Lachlan was getting more and more confused by all the numbers, he didn't know how any of it worked, all he did know was the bigger numbers meant stronger beast. However, it seems there were also some exceptions to that.

Although the kangaroo was slightly stronger, due to the snake's flexible body and poison this fight seemed fairly even.

He was also slightly intimidated by their stats, although he wasn't sure he at least thinks he knows what those +stats mean. He wasn't certain how one can increase them or even get them in the first place.

Although Lachlan had little hope it could work, as there should be a limit to his eyes, he tried it anyway, there was no point in not trying it, "Analyse, Level".

--------------------------------------------------------

Level: Has a 1% chance of increasing level per kill and a 2% chance of increasing level for eating specific foods. Each level gives bonus stats which are also dependent on the beast's innate talent.

Every time an individual's level increases by 10 to go beyond one must meet requirements.

Level 10: Must reach Good grade

Level 20: Must reach Great grade

Level 30: Must reach Excellent Grade

Ect.

--------------------------------------------------------

'Ahh, that didn't really help me,' Lachlan thought. After all, in the battle going on in front of him, it was obvious the Snake was going to win, although it certainly wouldn't leave unscathed. Hell, it already wouldn't leave unscathed.

Lachlan was constantly thinking the same question, 'How does the innate talent work? can it be increased or is it determined by birth?'

So far, Lachlan has seen a variety of beasts, each having their own talent. Some had extremely low-grade talent. Lachlan could also determine which talent is good through what he's observed. While a 3rd Grade Talent seems to give 7 bonus stats, 8th Grade Talent gave 2 bonus. Lachlan hasn't seen anything higher or lower.

Thinking about it hurt Lachlan's brain, it was starting to get really confusing and it started to frustrate him. As such, relying on the eyes, "Analyse, Innate Talent"

--------------------------------------------------------

Innate Talent: Determines the limit at which a beast a grow to. Determined by birth but can be increased through the evolution of a beast's grade. There is also a way to increase the limit through training but incredibly difficult.

--------------------------------------------------------

Seeing that cleared Lachlan's thoughts a bit, however, now Lachlan could determine that the beast's grade was incredibly important.

As while the innate talent of a beast is important, as it can be changed through evolution. Which is now another thing he had to analyse.

"Analyse, Grade,"

--------------------------------------------------------

Grade: The higher the grade the more powerful the abilities and innate talent. Everything starts at normal but can be increased through evolution. All beasts' have different evolution paths which require different materials.

--------------------------------------------------------

The Snake most likely bit its targets and escaped which is why it had managed to level up, only it seems it had failed to escape this Kangaroo. Which likely took a more violent root and got lucky. Although it says 1% if something is lucky enough they could kill 10 beasts and level up 10 times.

...

In the car everyone was deathly silent, watching the battle go on. They could even hear their own heartbeat, that would be the case if there wasn't a loud battle going on in front of them.

*Thump Thump*Thump Thump*Thump Thump*

Before they realised it, three more Kangaroos were in front of the snake, although slightly smaller then the injured one, they were still roughly 2 metres tall and completely fine. Things were now looking grim for the Snake. As seen before, all three of the new kangaroos were level 0.

Lachlan had already analysed them, though separately they wouldn't stand a chance, however, with 3 perfectly good Kangaroos and a strong injured one they could easily stand up against it.

...

Seeing that it was now at a huge disadvantage the Snake began to escape, putting in more effort to do so then it previously was. Unfortunately, two of the smaller Kangaroos had already pounced on it and slammed their feat against its tail, freezing it right in its tracks.

Realising that it can't escape the Snake quickly turned around and bit the two holding it down, the Kangaroos couldn't even react before it was too late. If it was going to die it might as well bright all its enemies with it.

Before the two Kangaroos could retreat the snake had already wrapped its body around their legs and slowly began tightening its grip, causing it to crush them. I then quickly shot out and bit one of them on the neck before going to the other.

Unfortunately, due to this evolution, all beasts have got stronger, some had their poison resistance increase. As for the snake, although its poison was strong that wasn't that main thing that evolved, as seen by its body.

The other two Kangaroos quickly pounced forwards, grab hold of the Snake's head, the injured Kangaroo managed to get the Snake into a headlock, allowing the uninjured one to start rapidly beating it.

Using its tail for balance, the Kangaroo lifted up its legs and launched them at the Snake's head, almost crushing it. Not feeling any movement the Kangaroo released its headlock, letting the still surprisingly alive Snake bite its shoulder.

Slowly falling down, the injured Kangaroo finally stopped breathing, the poison had finally got to it. All that's left was was the uninjured Kangaroos that beat the Snake's head, and a completely crushed Snake which was somehow still alive.

They stared each other in the eyes, hesitating whether or not to continue the fight. Although one of the Kangaroos were uninjured the Snake had far superior stats and just got another boast from killing its family.

Unfortunately, neither of these two beasts noticed the small black shadow staring at them from beneath one of the tree roots. Its entirely black eyes staring at what its new prey, its tongue flicked out and shot back into its mouth.

Shooting out, the shadow bit an open wound on the Snake and the toe of the Kangaroo, it then weaved through the Kangaroo's legs and bit the other two, leaving a tiny and unnoticeable bite mark.

The beasts hadn't noticed anything wrong, that was until seconds before their death as they fell down. Their corpses creating a thump sound as it lands.

However, Lachlan managed to see it, and the stats were unimpressive and impressive at the same time.
