They were both sitting on a huge boulder on the western part of the camp, the rising sun on their backs.

Sitting side by side, Denaire could feel his familiar warmth. She was in a panic, she was afraid that she would break him or that Amon would hate her for all his life.

She took a deep breath and watched a bird hopping on the ground to ease her mind.

Amon, on the other hand, felt something was wrong. He could sense it in her. He could sense that something has changed in Denaire – something has changed between them.

Yes, he was happy to see her. She was the one that pulled him out of that desolate place.

Amon opened his mouth first, "Denaire?"

Denaire absentmindedly said a 'yeah'.

"I just wanted to say thank you."

This time, Denaire looked at Amon. "Why?"

"When I was lost somewhere in an island in the Black Sea, you were the one who kept me sane until I can find my way back."

Denaire's brows furrowed. "What – How? I don't understand."

Amon smiled, "My memories of you kept me awake there, looking for a way to survive and get out of there. And when I arrived in the island, I looked for you, but you weren't there. I was distraught, but I kept up a strong front to ease the people. But deep inside, I wanted to see you. And here you are."

Denaire looked at him; happiness, sadness and guilt swirling in her eyes.

"Amon, I – I wanted you to know that it was you who kept me up during your absence. The thought that I knew you were still alive kept me strong and smart to lead the people. But when I was abducted by the Exoshans, I lost all hope. I still think of you, my family and all the people I have been with, but it wasn't enough to keep me hopeful. I lost all my willpower to live. I hated the world."

"But?" Amon interjected.

Denaire sighed, "Yes. But there was someone who slowly pulled me up from that hell. He nurtured and strengthened me back to fight. He gave me hope, that maybe, there is still another chance; that I can achieve everything what I set my heart into. He gave me the hope I needed at that moment."

"Is that someone General Hiro?"

"How - ?"

Amon smiled sadly, "I noticed how he looked at you earlier, and the way you look at him. There was so much love and trust in both of your eyes that no one could deny that you are in a relationship."

"Amon, I'm sorry. I know you probably loathe me now – "

"No Denaire. I do not hate you. I will never, ever hate you. I am just sad and hurt that you have replaced me with someone now. Now that I longed for you."

Denaire couldn't stop her tears from falling. His confession was so sad and she couldn't help anything about it. And the saddest part is, she was the cause of that hurt he's been feeling right now.

Amon wiped away her tears. "You know, when I got back from the Black Sea, I wanted to keep you safe to prevent you from seeing that there are places that are insanely dangerous. I wanted to even lock you up so you'd stay safe. That's how overprotective I was for you. But when I saw you yesterday, riding that majestic dragon, I saw you in a different light. I realized that you shouldn't be kept. Your wings should be spread wide so that you could fly and reach the unreachable skies. You were so wonderful to look at Denaire, and I felt guilty of the things I have thought to keep you safe.

"You shouldn't be kept hidden because you are supposed to be shown as the most powerful woman in history. And that I think you should be with the general. He can give you the free reins on what you wanted to do and he will stand at your back to protect and encourage you. I fear I'd be a hinder to you."

Denaire held Amon's face. "No. You were never a hindrance to me. Remember how you kept with me the secrets of my power before? Or how you encouraged me to look more for what I can do with my power? You helped me get to where I am today. And to that, I am so grateful."

"Yes, but in the course of my thoughts now, it wouldn't be the case Denaire. So I believe you should be with the general."

Denaire looked up at Amon, gratitude filling her face. She swallowed rather loudly before saying, "Would you mind we stay as friends?"

Amon exhaled loudly, "Denaire, I think I could not yet fulfill that, but someday in the future, maybe I could. But for now, forgive me if I can't. I will still talk to you, but maybe formally. I can't help getting bitter."

Denaire looked down, "I see. I understand. Thank you, Amon. Thank you."

Amon ruffled her hair and smiled down at her. "So are we ready to kick some ass?"

Denaire nodded. And together, they climbed down from the boulder and met with their troops.

It was time for the final battle.
