"Good morning," Kim yawned as she strolled down the stairs in her pyjamas.

Rubbing her eyes, Bella turned towards her, "Morning."

Kim was taken aback for a moment because her eye bags were blaring, "Couldn't sleep?"

She simply nodded in acknowledgement.

As she was too excited last night and she was also in an unfamiliar environment, she couldn't catch a wink of sleep.

She had even rushed out early so she could have an encounter with her crush but he seemingly wasn't awake.

Currently, Isabella was brooding. Her mission to impress her crush was ruined before it began.

In spite of the fact that she was tired, she wanted to talk to him. Her only fear was that if she rested a bit, she would fall asleep and may not have the chance to interact with Carl again…

So resting was not an option.

She was doing everything to keep her eyes from dropping.

She wasn't even aware of the state of her face, else she wouldn't be sitting in front of the TV, patiently waiting for his arrival.

"Why don't you go wash up, I'll make breakfast," Kim suggested, walking away.

You would think she would do as Kim said, yet she didn't budge.

If only she knew she was in for a huge disappointment she would take a shower, have breakfast then have her beauty sleep.

Too bad that wasn't the case. As Carl was too busy, he didn't come out from the basement until she left, leaving behind a sleep deprived, tired, disappointed girl.

"You still haven't showered?" Kim stared at Isabella who was in a daze.

Bella only glanced at her briefly before turning back to the TV.

Kim paused for a moment taking in the scene, "Breakfast is ready... I'll go call him, he should be awake by now."

Her words woke Isabella from her daze, she hurriedly got up almost tripping in the process.

Kim facepalmed, "A friendly reminder, you look like a mess."

With those words, she jogged up the stairs.

As soon as Bella heard her, without dilly-dallying, she ran into the washroom downstairs.

To her bewilderment, she had bird-nest hair, her appearance was anything short of impressive.

She quickly combed her hair with her fingers then did a quick messy bun before washing her face.

Even though she looked more tidy than before, her eye bags could not be concealed.

She took a once-over of her reflection in the mirror before patting her cheeks and heading to the dinning.

Since Carl's room was empty, Kim found her way to the basement.

Not surprising, he was sitting on his desk, working.

As she entered, he raised his head. Hesitantly, he greeted, "H-hey…"

"I made breakfast."

Seeing she wasn't as dull as last night, he assumed she wasn't mad anymore.

He sighed, "Thank you, I'll be out real quick."

"Ok."

Kim's voice interrupted Bella who was trying to fix her self and also contemplating if she should go apply a little make up at least to conceal her eye bags. "You're acting really weird, you know?"

Isabella raised her head, "I just feel quite uncomfortable."

"Given the fact you were under the rain but you chose not to shower and you didn't sleep last night, I'd say you ought to be."

She quietly took a seat.

They chatted amicably while waiting for Carl, real quick turned into thirty minutes so she decided to start breakfast without him.

After eating, she dragged Isabella away to shower.

Coincidentally, while they were away, Carl came out, ate his breakfast, washed the dishes and returned to the basement.

If Isabella didn't know better, she would assume he was avoiding her. Well, Kim who knew better still felt he was ghosting her.

After all, the reason she was back was to spend time with him and not to watch the empty house along with Bella.

When she saw he had eaten, she opted to watch movies with Bella.

Not long after, she got bored, they went to the garden to watch the fish.

Still, they remained unsatisfied as they weren't even paying attention.

Carl was on the back of their minds for the same reason.

Not wanting to make it too obvious, Kim excused herself and went to the basement to check on him.

"Hey!" She announced her presence with much chagrin.

"Oh hey," he replied, not looking her way.

"You realize I returned home to spend time with you, right? And yet you couldn't even have breakfast with me?" She piped

Carl abruptly stopped typing.

"I'm sorry, I'm just busy. You know I've been working for those people, I really haven't had the time for my own company." He diplomatically explained.Find authorized novels in Webnovel, faster updates, better experience,Please click www.webnovel.com for visiting.

Then Carl suggested, "You could sit with me."

She rolled her eyes, "I came with a friend, I obviously can't do that."

"Right, I forgot." He rubbed his eyes.

After staring at the computer screen for so long, his eyes ached a little.

*How about I make it up to you later?" He made another suggestion.

For some reason, she felt so impatient even though she knew he was busy, she could not help but want him to focus on her a little bit. "When exactly is later? I have to go back to school tomorrow."

"I'm not really sure…" He sighed.

He wasn't sure how long it would take to go over the reports and so he did not want to make a promise he could not keep.

"As soon as I'm done, I'll come up."
