Ronnie tactfully pulled away from kissing Jayne as it was getting more intense. "Let's head back home darling. Mom and dad must be panicking to have not found us anywhere in the house." Ronnie told Jayne.
Since Jayne was quite exhausted and since it was their big day tomorrow, she agreed to go with Ronnie. She drifted off to a peaceful sleep on their way back home in the car itself.
On seeing the serene looking Jayne, Ronnie didn't have the heart to wake her up. So, he scooped her up in his arms and carried inside. To his surprise, Ronnie found Daniel West waiting for him in the living room.
Daniel West stood up on seeing Ronnie walking in with Jayne in his arms. "B-Boss! H-Happy New Year!" He stuttered and looked down scared if he spoilt his Boss and Madam's private moment.
"Dan? Happy New Year to you too! What's it? Why are you here?" Ronnie looked with a questioning gaze.
Before Daniel West could reply, Ronnie continued, "Wait for me in my study. I'll be back soon."
"Yes boss!" Daniel answered him.
By then Mr and Mrs Roy came after sending the guests. They frowned upon seeing Jayne who was fast asleep in Ronnie's arms. But she looked tired, her face pale, "What's wrong? Is Jayne alright? Where did you both suddenly disappear? We didn't even get to wish you properly." Mrs. Caroline Roy demanded an answer.
"Mom, Dad, Happy new year! She's doing fine. She's just a little tired. So she slept. I'll go let her rest upstairs. I'll be back soon Mom!" Ronnie answered his mom and carried Jayne upstairs.
He carefully placed her on the soft bed and undressed her and changed into her pajamas. He then bought a wet towel and wiped her body. He was trying very hard to control himself while doing all of that.
After that he came back downstairs to see his Assistant talking to his parents about the arrangements for tomorrow.
"Mom, dad rest assured, Dan will look into everything. You don't have to worry. Go get a rest since it's already late and we have a big day tomorrow." Ronnie's eyes twinkled with happiness on thinking about tomorrow.
He then looked at Daniel West. "Come up to the study Dan."
"Right away boss!" Daniel headed upstairs to the study.
Ronnie sat on his chair while Dan was standing across the table.
"What's it Dan? Is it something so important that you'd to come here at this hour?" Ronnie questioned Daniel West.
"Yes boss. That's the reason I came here hurriedly without wasting a moment. It's about Madam." Daniel West replied.
"It's about Jayne?" A ray of dark light emitted from Ronnie's eyes on hearing that it was related to Jayne.
"Boss, our Team B under Antony which was sent to the tribal area where you first found Madam and later stayed there have come back with this." He gave Ronnie a diary which was inside a polythene cover.
Ronnie carefully opened the cover and took out the diary. When he opened the diary, the first thing which caught his eyes was a beautiful picture of Jayne smiling totally delighted. Ronnie's hands froze on seeing such a beautiful picture of Jayne.
He looked up at Daniel West. "Where did they find this? How come it's so intact in spite of the heavy floods?" Ronnie was puzzled.
"Boss, apparently this diary was struck on to the branches of a tree. As per our inference, it's probably that while Madam fell, she must have had this diary with her and this got struck on the tree while she fell down. Thankfully, it was safely placed inside a cover. Hence the diary is intact in spite of the rains and floods. Even the police haven't bothered to search high up on the tree. Hence, they too haven't found this."
Ronnie frowned. "But why would she carry her diary along with her? Let me take a look at this. Dan, you can leave now. Go get some rest. I'll see you tomorrow then. You all have worked hard!"
Daniel West immediately realised that his boss wanted to be left alone. He quickly took leave."Yes boss! Good night!"
