Chapter 1 – The Succession of the God of Gluttony
“One night, as the spring wind suddenly blows, tens of thousands of pear trees blossom.”
“It hasn’t snowed, however, these pear blossoms are like snow. Snow is pear blossoms, and pear blossoms are snow. Both are equally beautiful!”
Youngsters in groups of two’s or three’s walked between the freshly blooming pear trees, breathing in the air filled with the sweet fragrance. There were girls bending down and picking up pear blossoms that had fallen onto the ground and bringing them up to their noses to smell and feel them with entranced expressions.

“How beautiful, if I could live here, my life would be perfect!”
Within a group of youngsters, there was youngster who looked to be in his twenties with long hair who extended out his hands and relished in the plentiful pear blossoms around him.
“That’s far from easy, just bring your canvas and paint the scenery, that should be sufficient!”
The youngster had just finished speaking when one of his companions by his side retorted. The long haired youngster liked painting and had also studied fine arts. This was a job that was envied by all as it allowed someone to eat delicious food everyday and still make money.
Working is good, however contrary to what most would expect, the income was relatively average. It was only enough for him to pay his personal expenses. However, within his family he had a good dad. Gu Zheng’s father was working in France and was a three-star Michelin chef with an annual salary of more than a million yuan. The income was still secondary, most importantly his father’s cooking was far from ordinary. It was what led Gu Zheng to develop his picky taste. Indeed, Gu Zheng’s gourmet reviews were quite sharp and they were infamous for their vicious, drilling criticisms regarding cooking.
“What’s this?”
Gu Zheng lowered his gaze, and right in front of him was a filthy rock. The surface of the rock was coated in a kind of black mud, the only puzzling thing was that this area didn’t contain this kind of black mud. If it wasn’t Gu Zheng who picked up this rock, others would have all assumed that it was just a dirty piece of rock.
He carefully wiped the black mud off and beneath was the black surface of the rock. It looked somewhat like some kind of animal, however he couldn’t determine what animal it was. It gave people a feeling like it was an abstract shape.
“Who knows, most likely it’s from a boulder that rolled down from the top mountain!”
The long haired youth was the first to respond. He only spoke a single sentence before looking away from the rock in Gu Zheng’s hands. According to him, this place’s pure white pear blossom’s were far more interesting.
“It could also be left behind from yesterday’s shooting star. If that’s really the case, Gu Zheng, you’ve struck it rich! At that time, don’t forget to treat us to a meal!” Another companion spoke while smirking. Last night, they had eaten barbecue and drank wine together. Around nine o’clock, they had seen a shooting star fly across the night sky and had all wished their dreams upon it.
“Shooting stars are meteorites, if it were drop down somewhere, it wouldn’t be here. Furthermore, it wouldn’t be covered in mud!”
Gu Zheng chuckled and replied. The words his friend had spoken made him very happy, yet he also knew that such a thing was not possible. However, the more he stroked this rock, the more it gave him a new and odd feeling. It felt as if the rock had some kind of connection within him.
“Oh no!”
Gu Zheng clutched his hand and the rock fell to the ground. A line of blood quickly flowed out from his finger. The long haired youngster, as well as his other companions hurriedly rushed over to him. As such, nobody noticed the drop of blood quickly being absorbed into the mouth area of the animal-like rock. The rock slowly turned transparent before completely vanishing.

“Gu Zheng, you’ve woken up, how do you feel?”
Gu Zheng slowly opened his eyes to a white ceiling and white walls. There was even a scent of medicine to his side, after turning his head twice and examining his surroundings, he concluded that this was the hospital.”
“Huang Tao, there’s nothing wrong with me, why am I here?”
Gu Zheng asked the youngster by his side, it was that long haired youngster. The interior designer that liked drawing.
“At the pear tree farm you pricked yourself, then you fainted. No matter what we did we couldn’t make you up, so we brought you to the hospital, this is the Emergency Room!”
Huang Tao quickly replied, before anxiously asking: “How do you feel right now? The doctor said that there aren’t any severe problems. However, he couldn’t determine what caused you to faint, so he has required you to return for more detailed checkups. Du Yang and Zhao Yongkui went to go pay the bill!”
The Du Yang and Zhao Yongkui that Huang Tao spoke of were the other two who were with together with them this time, the four men were close friends. This time it was Huang Tao who had urged them to see the pear blossoms. Taking advantage of the weekend, together they all came, however, nobody could of guessed that Gu Zheng would end up hurt. Furthermore, he had ended up fainting for such a long time. Up until this moment, 2 hours had already passed.

“I’m the God of Gluttony, the ultimate God of Food. This time, the gods must face the heavenly Chaos Calamity that strikes every 33,000 years. This trial will be incredibly difficult to pass. However, my heart cannot bear the thought of ending the heritage that I have accumulated over my entire life. Therefore, I decided to use to create the Will of the God of Gluttony and place my enlightenments and various treasures within, and send it out of the Great Desolate to seek a destined one to be bestowed upon. The one that possesses the Will of the God of Gluttony shall succeed me as the God of Gluttony!”

The mythical beast turned, and dissipated into a flash of white light which in turn caused Gu Zheng’s ‘eyes’ to show a sea of white, which caused Gu Zheng to clutch his head in pain.
“Gu Zheng, seeing you I think you should listen to the doctor and obediently come back for additional checkups. You worry us when you’re like this!”
Huang Tao worriedly advised as he put down his phone, with the previous relief being overwhelmed with his worry towards Gu Zheng.
