Chapter 22 – I’ve never thought about a reverse pattern
Inside the vacant room allocated to me, I found a magic wand.
No, calm down. It’s not something unusual….
Thinking about it rationally, every household must at least have one magic wand for everyday use. There are even those who replace it regularly, and it’s also normal for a magic wand that is not used anymore to be put inside the storeroom.
However, I am 16 years old and I have never had a magic wand before.
Or rather, I’ve never held it even once.
And now, there’s a magic wand lying in front of my eyes….
Facing such an unexpected encounter, I couldn’t hold back my excitement.
“…. I can touch it, right?” (Ash)
While on all fours position, I brought my face closer to the floor so I could see the magic wand more clearly.
“Master! Let’s eat tog—what are you doing!?” (Effa)
Effa asked me with a baffled face.
This position…. I’m sure ten out of ten people will think that I’m in the middle of doing something suspicious right now. I shouldn’t show this kind of behavior in front of my disciple!
I immediately straightened my back and changed to a sitting position.
“Oh, Effa! I was just surprised to find a magic wand on the floor.” (Ash)
“Hmm? Oh, it’s a magic wand that my parents bought for me when I was five years old!” (Effa)
Effa sat in front of me and then explained about the magic wand with a nostalgic expression.
“You don’t use it anymore?” (Ash)
“Well, it’s for children’s use after all. My hands have gotten too big to hold it. I got a new magic wand for my 10th birthday.” (Effa)
Effa looked at my face curiously.
“Umm, is it that unusual? I think you can find a magic wand like this everywhere….” (Effa)
“I’ve seen magic wand often, but I’ve never held one.” (Ash)
Effa looked so confused.
“But, Master…. Didn’t you tell me that you didn’t have magical power before?” (Effa)
“I did say it. (Ash)
“Then, how do you know that you have no magical power?” (Effa)
“Well, I mean… I don’t have Stegel……..” (Ash)
Having said that, I suddenly thought of something.
If a child born with zero talent to be a wizard, the Stegel that appears on the child at the age of 1~4 will likely be too thin to be seen with the naked eye and overlooked.
In addition, as far as I remember, I have never received magical power measurement, and I have never tried to cast magic with a magic wand either. In other words: There’s no solid proof that I have no magical power!
Maybe I was making a terrible mistake. I couldn’t use magic because I believed that I didn’t have magical powers.
Thinking that, I couldn’t resist the urge to try something.
“Effa!” (Ash)
“What is it, Master?” (Effa)
“Can I borrow this for a moment? I want to make sure whether I have magical power or not.” (Ash)
The magic wand is like a “soul” of wizard. Just because we have a trusting relationship, it doesn’t mean she will lend hers to me easily.
I thought so, but….
“If that’s the case, I will hand over this magic wand to you, Master!” (Effa)
Effa smiled and said that to me.
“Are you sure?” (Ash)
“Yes. Instead of gathering dust inside this room, I’m sure the magic wand will be happier if someone use it.” (Effa)

I felt blessed for having such a good disciple.
“My magic wand….” (Ash)
I gently held the magic wand with my hand.
The handle is so smooth.
I feel like it will fall from my hand if I don’t hold it firmly.
This feeling…. I have never thought that I would be so moved by simply holding a magic wand. If I really can use magic with this, maybe I’ll die for being too happy.
Still though, I wonder why I have never thought about this logic before.
“Then, I will try it immediately.” (Ash)
“Wait, please eat first before leaving! Warm food tastes better after all.” (Effa)
“Understood. I will save the fun for later!” (Ash)
