"You became an uncle at such a young age?" Cindy started giggling.

"Look here, I did not choose to become her uncle it was my sister that told Kitsune to call her Auntie. Besides, you don't even know how long I have been alive for." Ketan looks at Cindy with disdain.

"That is also true. Ketan, if you do not mind another question. Just how old are you?" Luke looked at him with his sparkling eyes. "If mother called you uncle that would make you my great uncle?"

Leo chuckled and then drank some juice, "you walked yourself into that one by telling that story now you get the deal with the repercussions."

"God, I stopped counting the years when I hit one hundred. Give me a moment and I will calculate my age." Ketan counts back the years in his mind. "One hundred and seventy-seven years old, I think. I am still considered young for a vampire and before you ask my sister is my twin so we are the same age. I have already seen a lot of death and with where we live it is hard for a human to get into so it has yet to be discovered by the hunters. We would like to keep it that way. I do not want my sister to freak out that we were discovered. There are enough of us vampires living in that house now but I am the only single one left. What I mean by that is I am the only one without a life partner. It is not a bad thing that I do not have a partner. It is just a bit harder on me than it is for my sister. I am sure that I will be able to control myself but I must say that I am a little concerned about not knowing how it'll feel to have her drink my blood. To me, it seems like she is still suffering and she is not going to say anything to make sure that we will not worry as much. Sylvie agrees with me on that note."

"Do you think that she will last three weeks or do you think it'll be sooner?" Leo watches Ketan's facial expression.

Ketan thinks for a moment, "I do think that she will need it within the next week maybe two. I am not an expert at this. There is a lot of unknowns we are working with so all I can say is that for now each and every one of us must be on our best guard to make sure that she is okay and if you think she is not holding up well then to contact me. Luke, you will be spending a lot of time with Kitty so I want you to pay close attention to her body language. I do have another story for you guys."

"Ketan you can count on me to take care of Mother. I do not want her to suffer at all but I do understand that this is something that is not controlled by any individual. I will keep a close eye on her. How would you like us to contact you if she starts to look unwell and take a turn for the worse?" Luke had finished eating and was watching Ketan and listening to everything that he had to say.

"As I am Kitsune's midwife, it is my job to watch over her and now is the most important time to watch over her. I will do my job well and I will also inform you if something happens." Cindy nods her head and looks to Carlos.

"Hey, I am in the same boat as everyone here. Kitsune and I are like siblings. Neither one of us actually has a sibling but we are close in age so I like to think of her as an older sister. I will help with whatever tasks you have for me. I will monitor her diet. Is there anything on that front that I need to worry about?" Carlos nodded his head at Cindy then glanced at Ketan.

"Thank you for your cooperation. There is something that you can do for me. I promise that this will not hurt much and that I will heal the cut. I need a little blood from each of you. Not so that I can track you but with one of my powers I can talk telepathically with those I have tasted their blood. It would make it easier if you all gave me a little blood so that if something happens I will hear that thought." Ketan looked at the shocked looks of those around the table.

"Just how much blood do you need?" Leo picked up the knife he hadn't use and waited for the reply.

"Leo no more than a mouthful. Let me tell you about how I found out about this ability. Sylvie and I both have this ability. Before she got a partner and before we hadn't started feeding on animals. There was a time when we were asked to change some people into our kind. It is not easy for someone to become a vampire. Sylvie accepted and said that I didn't need to do the deed. We do not need to drink blood to turn a human into a vampire. Contrary to the myths, it is not like we insert a venom either. How do I explain this? A vampire bites into a human and transfers his essence into the human? It's like magic in a way and that person has four options. First, the desired person turns into a vampire. Second, the person stays human. Third, they turn into a deranged vampire. Lastly, they die in the process. So there is a fifty percent chance of death or living. Vampires that turn a human into a vampire are supposed to keep an eye on the ones that they change. Oh, and life partners the ones that we are bonded with have a one hundred percent rate of turning into a vampire. I do believe the reason for that is because they are bonded with a being of the night and without them, the vampire will pass away. The changed vampires can drink the blood of their masters but I'm getting off track. Sylvie and I went to this meeting and there were four targets to change and that was not what we were told in the beginning. It was only supposed to be one person and so I decided to not let my sister do all four so I looked at the first two people. My sister and I both took a target and we bit them and let out essence into the humans. I stepped back from my target and Sylvie did the same. We waited and watched as both targets turned but not into a vampire but a deranged one. The next target that was supposed to turn jumped in front of Sylvie and was attacked instead of her. I also rushed and killed the vampire and then turned and killed the one I turned. I remember saying to Sylvie. 'This is why I did not want to turn anyone. It is not safe for the vampire as well as the human.' The human I was to change next said that she wanted to go through with it still. I remember sighing while Sylvie picked up her second target and left the room. I was left in the room with the target so I changed her and she too became deranged. So, I killed her then I left the room and followed Sylvie. That is why I refused to turn someone again. I will not go into the details on what happed to that human my sister took home but I know that it is not wise to attempt to transform a human into a vampire. Isn't it the same for werewolves?" Ketan looked up at Carlos.
