"Do you think Cheska is alright?" Madel asked as they walked out of the room. Deep inside she wanted to see Henry's reaction. He claimed that Cheska was the apple of his eyes most of the time, and she was the marriageable type of woman.
"She is probably alright. It may take time to recover from a spiritual assault but she will be fine if she rests well. " Henry said.
Madel could not sense any worry in his eyes, or any plans on hearing about her current condition. He does not seem to have any plan on visiting her either. His words are incongruent with his actions. Although she would be jealous from time to time, she can feel that Henry's body language suggests that he likes her instead. But since he was a gay, that liking could be limited to just being friends. May be Henry likes her as his favorite friend.
[Shoot, I'm filled with the thoughts about him again. I'm done for. I think I'm really in love, with a gay.] She covered her face with her hands.
Madel was always silent but her mind is always running with different thoughts.
"are you okay?" Henry looked at her intently with eyes filled with concern.
Madel removed her hands from her face and looked at Henry. She was surprised when she saw his worried eyes. Their eyes met for 15 seconds, numerous emotions filled her heart.
[So, how am I supposed to believe that you want somebody else? Your response when I asked you about your favorite girl was plain and emotionless, but what's up with that worried eyes now] Madel said to herself.
"I'm fine" she replied.
Henry was the first one to retract his gaze. He immediately looked away.
"Uhmm. By the way." he said. "would you like to go to the centree?" he added.
Madel nodded and they went straight to the centree. The tree was named as that because it was standing in the center of the Physician Hall.
He asked her about what happened that time when the shadows tried to kill them. Madel told the school administrators that she threw stones at the shadows to distract them and a stranger helped them to kill it. When asked as of why she was not affected by their spiritual power she answered that she did not know either. She said that perhaps, it was because she has not cultivated or tried to awaken her spiritual powers.
The administrators believed her about her ability to be unaffected by spiritual powers. It was because her body was indeed too tight or blocked that is why her zhenqi or spiritual powers could not circulate or even be utilized for outside assault.
But of course it was not enough to fool Henry who was there that time. Shadows does not have physical existence. They are like dark souls wondering around. They have the ability to possess the leaving and is immortal in existence. The humanity has been plagued by their existence for a long time, but their presence was not that openly known, they were prohibited to talk about it or even mention the term.
There was not a single human who lived after seeing one or offending one. The principal reassured them that the matter will not be leaked. He also promised that he will try to suppress any rumors if there are any about Madel and an outsider killing the shadows. It was a very sensitive issue that might get them killed.
Henry saw what happened , the shadows were hit by the stones thrown by Madel. It was impossible. It was like damaging the air by throwing stones at it.
Madel also remembered it but she refusedto talk about it. From the battle she realized her inability to match the speed of those creatures. They moved faster than a quarter of second. upon realizing it she took her arrow and shoot at them without hesitation. It took three attempts to finally hit the core of those shadows. Without destroying it, the shadows will continue to reform.
Henry wanted to ask her a lot of things. but he did not know where to start.
"can you see the core of the shadows?" he asked.
Madel was shocked. Of all the questions he asked that. He totally hit the spot. It took a while before she can answer. Would she lie? How would she lie? should she tell him the truth.
Henry thought about his question again. He really wanted to ask Madel that question. If her eyes can see beyond a humans capacity and to what extent. But then he realized something.
"hmm" Madel mustered some courage to reply when Henry suddenly butted in.
"Never mind. forget that I asked." he said.
She was confused with what he said. was he annoyed, angry? Her eyes gave that questioning look.
"I am not mad. Let's just practice okay."
