Outside Ashley and Michael, of course, these two clearly had combat experience and they were already stronger with their knowledge of Beastial and Magical Spells. He wasn't about to hand over his advantage over them with two hands. If they were boosted with powerful spells they didn't know before even his red tendril form might not be enough to save him.

But after that initial spike, the emotions are tampered down as you get used to the enhancement of them. Until the releasing of the emotions during the puberty stage that Jason was about to enter. It was as if puberty multiplied thousand times over with his body undergoing a complete remodelling he would soon enter a growth period where he lusted for blood more than he ever would. His emotions would peak easily and it was the time when reckless things happen combined with the initial puberty Jason was going through his Growth Stage was bound to be blood-filled.
