War Grounds was a game that did not rely on that much in spells and active skills.

In the current meta, the system imposed a limit of five active class skills for players' disposal, regardless of level. As a trade, the developers made sure to make the battles as realistic as much as possible - adding hidden effects when striking the different parts of the target's body, even a real-time pain-toggle feature too. In addition, it was also possible to behead your opponent or dismember their body parts if you could one-shot kill them, a feature really enjoyed by gore-loving users.

To make it short, users really enjoyed an immersive experience. Players could feel that they're fighting an actual battle and that they are not just some random characters hacking each other in monotonous and predetermined attack patterns until their HP reaches zero.

Although some skills have a long cooldown period, players could get an automatic refresh once they entered another mode or played another match. So, technically speaking, one would only experience the disadvantages of having long cooldowns in the Open World Mode or in a prolonged rank match with no time limit, which was a rare occurrence.

In hindsight, it was a bit surprising that it only took at least one minute to finish off Papa Bear, who has a summon ability - Ursun's Fury!

'Not good.' Al analyzed what could have possibly happened. The most logical thing that he had assumed was that Suicide Forest has an insta-kill feature or, at worst - troublesome opponents!

There was only one way to confirm his suspicions - forward!

Udil continued to the direction where he previously saw the charging orc before it disappeared. He kept on running; the surrounding trees around him were growing in sizes.

Swooosh!

Suddenly, three arrows with red fletchings whistled from out of nowhere and aimed for his head.

Peng!

Peng!

Slice!

Ever since Al allowed SARS to autopilot him, he noticed a better integration in his virtual reactions. His reflexes were improving at a noticeable rate.

With a flamberge in his hand, Al blocked the first two arrows and sliced the last projectile into half. 'A secret dimension?' The boy surmised.

Al only shook his head. This was the inherent problem with some of the map's features in the game. They could randomly favor the side that could locate them first - often than not, the team with the nearest spawn point.

In the past few months, many casual players had signed a petition to balance the features of random maps, allowing opposing teams to have equal chances to contest against each other in acquiring the advantages offered by the battlefield. However, the development team simply responded with a quote: Wars are never fair.

Four words, but it made sense. No matter how disadvantaged you are, there's always a chance to win. You just have to stop fussing and use your brain instead. This was the thrill that achievement-junkies were looking for! However, the same thing could not be said for casual players.

Anyway, War Grounds was still enjoying the increasing number of its player base, ever since its release despite the clamor from other users.

Going back, the idea of a secret dimension inside a map was still mind-boggling. No wonder why, Papa Bear suddenly disappeared out of nowhere.

Udil increased his pace as he sprinted forward. More arrows were darting from the path ahead, but its shooter could not be found.

Personally, Al knew that he was charging to a completely unknown place - a very disadvantageous terrain. It seemed to be a dumb move. However, the boy could not afford to waste time and wait for his opponents to leave their haven, which was very unlikely as they have finally taken hold of the map's advantageous feature.

In addition, Bertran will not be able to play other modes as long as the match was not yet over. So, Al will have to take the initiative to end the fight as soon as possible.

Life does not favor those who are ready, but rather those who try.

Charge!

Just as he had predicted - there was indeed a hidden dimension. Al kept on running, but he suddenly found his character walking on nothing, but air.

The map around him suddenly changed. He was falling from midair.

Al immediately looked down. Unfortunately, he was heading straight to the fangs of numerous swords that were planted on the mossy ground. These weapons were arranged in a way that they formed a blanket of spikes - no wonder why this map was called Suicide Forest.

Al also saw the dead body of Papa Bear. The latter was impaled in numerous sword spikes; his orcish blue skin was covered in multiple cuts and arrows. Beside him was the corpse of Ursun, who suffered the same fate as his master.

A troublesome map and opponents! It was Al's conclusion.

The new dimension was a circular space as big as an average theater that has a small green hill in the middle. In this area, one would be able to see a huge tree and a red shrine, just as Dreaming Blade had previously said in the chat. It was the only place where there were no sword spikes.

Numerous floating circular portals surrounded the area, where one could see the situation outside of the hidden space. 'So, this is how they were able to see us.' Al quickly realized as he was still in mid-air.

The most notable figures in the map were no other than the two samurais - Battousai and Dreaming Blade.

One could say that among the numerous classes, aside from the Warrior class, Al was very familiar with Samurais. He has clashed with these characters for how many times already, thanks to his best friend - Osho.

He immediately knew the skill that was used by Dreaming Blade, who was currently in the hill, safe from the sword spikes and freely shooting with his bow.

[Dreaming Blade, Level 8, Rookie I Demon Samurai, Member of the Guild, Wandering Samurais]

Yabusame!

A Samurai which skill allows its user to shoot arrows with a bow. In the past, Al suffered a humiliating defeat from Osho because of this skill. He was just kited to death by his best friend, due to his lack of range skills.

Splurge!

Al tried to maneuver his landing, but to no avail, as the arrows fired by Dreaming Blade was harassing him. He gritted his teeth as his character's feet landed on the sword spikes. His HP suddenly decreased by 3%.

'So, this is how they were able to whittle down Papa Bear quickly and Ursun's HP.' Al realized. Judging by Papa Bear's attitude, who has no regard with his HP as long as he could charge, his quick death finally made sense.

However, Al has to move as another figure was heading towards him quickly.

[Battousai, Level 8, Rookie I Demon Samurai, Member of the Guild, Wandering Samurais]

There was really nothing noteworthy about Battousai and Dreaming Blade. The duo's armor even belonged to the rookie set, a dull red leather that was very far from what Osho was wearing or what actual Samurais' equipment really looked like.

The only most eye-catching was Battousai, who was wielding two katanas and freely running on the tips of the sword spikes with his HP still intact after numerous steps.

It was a sign of a good grasp of real-life techniques.
