It was a reality, an unforgiving event which kept itself glued into my consciousness. A memory that became a part of my life. Something I can't cut off. The lies, secrets alongside all the sins I committed, there might not have been any redemption for these. But I could care less about my soul; the final destination for whatever it's worth. The person who died that day; whom I, could not save...he was Frank Ray. One of the best we've ever had in force.
-Yeah? How was he?
-...
-It's okay. You should try to clear your mind now. We can talk tomorrow? Get to bed, close your eyes and try to get some more sleep.
-A selfish and annoying alcoholic womaniser.
-Excuse me!
-That's how he was.
-So he had almost everything that needed to be..
-Self righteous..
-..I was gonna say..good.
-(Sighs)
-Is it safe to say that you two were in a relationship?
-Hmm. No. Not actually.
-I see. Sorry, that was personal.
-...
-Let me get you another cup of coffee.
-I worked on a case back with him in my early career.
-Partners?
-Yes. That was a while ago. A kidnapping case. Single suspect, open operation, gunshots, chases, death threats.
-Got the culprit by the night?
-Yes.
-So why did you get separated...(tearing up a milk carton)transferred to different sectors?
-No.
-Here you go. A cup of coffee with some chocolate syrup!
-Thanks.
-You're welcome.
-...
-Hey? It's okay? C'mon Ms. Inspector, cheer up. You are doing fine.
-No. Oh God(sobbing) I am not.
-Let's forget about the nightmares now. Right?
-I wish it would have been that easy.
-You know, we all have our own nightmares that hunt us. Something that tries to take us into deeper and darker until there's nothing but a void left around.
-Tell me..
-No you tell me, what makes you feel better?
-I...I don't know, maybe telling my side of stories; to right people makes me happy.
-Yeah and I pretty much love stories. You can have me as an audience if you want.
-(Sighs)his wife became pregnant all of a sudden. So Dad, sorry I mean Chief had to give him a leave.
-Wait! Quick question.
-Yes, my dear Dad is the current Chief of our department.
-Talk about perfect father and daughter. I must say I admire you guys.
-Yeah. Thanks.
-I believe he never mentioned anything about this to you before having his leave?
-No. Not before. Not after. Listen Jerry, I am truly thankful for everything that you have done for me. I mean it.
-So?
-Ugh! Fuck it! All I am saying is, it might be better if I don't stick around, more than I have to.
-What! Why?
-Sorry but it is true. It's for Jane.
Please report us if you find any errors so we can fix it asap!
