She hastily turned her head and suddenly got overjoyed. It was Giselle!

"Jia! How are you? This is such a. great surprise."

Jia hurriedly stood up and swung each other in a tight hug . She initially thought that the hand was Anthon's, though she was trying to escape from him. Obviously, her instinct told her to avoid him, but subconsciously, her heart was still yearning.

"And why are you here also? I thought you are still traveling around the world!" Jia's eyes shone in happiness.

"Foolish! " Giselle laughed at her exaggeration.

As Giselle sat down opposite her, she was still ecstatic and without any hesitation, she brought up the latest hot issue about her.

"OMG, Jia. I never expected how things turned out with you. I just thought the last time we met that you and Anthon would soon be inviting me for your wedding. However.." Giselle's excitement a while ago suddenly melted.

Jia's smiles instantly disappeared also. She then remembered how Giselle strongly refused to be her maid of honor. She lowered her head down and did not reply for a while. After some awkwardd moments passed by, she forced a light smile.

"As I always said, some things in life are not meant for us no matter how we want it. "

She stared into Giselle's eyes with unconcealed bitterness, and in a moment, she laughed.

"You still love him, don't you? "Giselle returned her gaze as she continued. "Gratitude may not necessarily be paid with a lifetime commitment."

Jia shrugged her shoulders and looked away. Giselle waited patiently. After some moments of deep thought, she began talking again.

"You know better than anyone else that the strong feelings I had for him was totally from the fantasies I created in my mind. But there was no physical involvement, no mutual foundation. No memories of us together on a date or just being with each other. No companionship. "

"But I realize how powerful is the mind. How far it can take us. How capable it is to make us dwell and believe beyond the most

impossible state of a certain thing."

Giselle sighed." Yes, while it's true that your feelings was drawn out from your delusions for him but you, probably, must have understood that Anthon fancied you just the same way you did."

"It's too late, Sel. Those six years of being cared selflessly by a man and six years of companionship were more than enough to topple down the sandcastle I built for us."

Giselle could not help but shake off her head in frustration. There was no longer a point for her to argue. Her mind was already made up.

"I just hope, Jia, that you are being honest to yourself."

In all honesty, Jia was confused. Why was she suddenly uncomfortable and far from being herself when she saw Anthon a while ago? Why was she moved and affected when she saw him crying earlier?

Perhaps because, the whole humanity is gifted with five different senses that could instantly get functional and reactive to different types of stimulus. And this may not necessarily be an indication of a profound affection.

"By the way, Jia, I really forgot to tell you that I am here to meet

someone you know. He's offering me a pre -selling unit that he would personally develop. It's something I can get a lesser cost so I grab it."

"You're going to stay here permanently? "Jia asked, not minding at all who Giselle would be meeting up with.

"No, but our home is always here. No matter how big is the world and no matter how far we may go, we always think of going home." Jia laughed, mimicking the serious phrases of Jia when she got emotional.

They, then, shifted their topics from people they know to memories in the past, their current plans to their future goals. They were so engrossed that they did not notice someone came over and stood for a while at their back.

As Jia tossed her head backward in laughter, a warm hand touched her shoulder. Startled as she looked up, her laughter suddenly halted, as well as her heartbeat...

The man in grey suit was right before her, his palm in her shoulder. How could her head not spin around? Giselle blurted into a stiffled laugh as she suddenly got thrilled.

"Anthon?"

She looked at Giselle and then back to him. Then she moved her eyes from her left to right. The only thing that crossed her mind at the moment was to.....run away!

Helpless, she sighed. She looked at Giselle again and straightened up. The crazy woman across her could not hold it any longer and she laughed! She glared at her and cursed silently under her breath.

"Ouched! " Giselle winced in pretended pain as the pointed part of Jia's shoes hit her leg.

"Jia? " His hand moved towards her head with a gentle pat. She suddenly felt her dizziness surged upward and all she wanted was to collapse.

"Anthon, please sit down." Jia muttered courageously as she turned to him in a composed manner.

Giselle giggled as she stood up and hugged Anthon. "It's good to see you again! "

"Have you waited so long? "Anthon asked as he sat down beside Jia, thus, facing her. The more she got uncomfortable. She could not look straight into his eyes and her breathing became shallow and difficult.

Giselle teased her some more. "Jia, what happened to you? Why are you trembling? "

"It's the coffee.." And she kicked again under the table while feigning a calm expression. However, it was not Giselle who was hit but Anthon.

Anthon's eyes instantly rolled wide but as soon as he understood what happened, he smiled, choosing not to expose her. But, as she saw Anthon's reaction, she realized her mistake and got so embarrased. She suddenly wished for a hole to hide under her feet!

"What's the meaning of that look? " Giselle taunted further with a smile reaching her temples.

Realizing that she could not get away from her, she sighed and stood up.

"Please, excuse me."

"Jia, where are you going! "

"To hell! "
