Li Jing walked over to the car, where Wei Xin was standing with her back facing him. She turned around when she felt a pair of footsteps approaching from behind her and saw Li Jing coming her way.

"What is going on?" Li Jing whispered in a manner that seemed way too excited for his stern personality.

"Just wait and watch." Wei Xin responded without giving out much information as her eyes were glued to Wu Zhang who has walked a few more steps further inside the canopy.

With every step he had taken inside, the lights that were wrapped around the canopy got lit, section by section, giving the entire canopy a warm golden glow.

On the stoned passageway was laid a green carpet made of artificial grass which could in no way be differentiated from the real one. It had small artificial flowers in different shapes and sizes tucked at a random distance on it, giving it a very natural look.

On each side of the pathway, feet apart from each other were placed small glass lamps, the top of which was covered with golden-colored metal lids. At the inside of the lamps, burned an artificial flame that was red in color which added a very faint tinge of crimson to the warm golden lights of the canopy.

If Wu Zhang was facing Li Jing and Wei Xin, they would have been lucky enough to see his dumbfounded expression, which was once in a blue moon occurrence. The reason for such expression was the multiple pictures of him and Song Jia hanging on either side of the canopy.

Some were of both of them, like the pictures of their first outing together, when they went for bungee jumping, with Song Jia clinging onto him as she was scared out of her wits.

Another one was of N City, where they had attended the ball together at the Imperial University where she was in her silver gown and him in his tuxedo, as they stood facing each other, their faces cracked in peals of laughter. She was holding a plate of her precious pastries while his eyes were glued on her gentle face, making the scene worth being captured.

Rest were a few from the various events they had attended together, some were of them together at the Wu Mansion, some were their individual pictures, while the majority of which was of Wu Zhang but they were enough to cover the insides of the canopy with their number.

Wu Zhang's face looked confused and with every step that he took his heart was picking pace, probably for the first time in his life. With each passing moment, a giddy feeling sored inside him, bringing a gentle smile on his lips that clearly reflected in his shining dark brown eyes.

The hand that had reached for his suit jacket to pull out the pistol was now loosening up as he had started to lose himself in the moment.

With an astounding feeling in his heart, that his slow walk, wide eyes, and dropped jaw clearly reflected, he reached the end of the canopy, only to be surprised even further.

The lake that always looked engulfed in the inky black darkness at this hour of the night had taken a whole new look today, as it glimmered under the lights of uncountable Kongming lanterns[1], which Wu Zhang and also Li Jing noticed only now.

As far as the eyes could see, the sky was dazzling with lanterns made of all the colors one could think of. Pink, blue, violet, green, orange, yellow, red, neons, pastels, you name it and the sky had it.

Instead of everything that the picturesque decoration had, his eyes skimmed the land to look for the woman he had come here all the way to find.

When he looked at his right, he saw a silhouette of a woman walking in his direction. As she came closer, the light fell on her flawless face, finally bringing his heart at ease, diminishing the anxiety that he had been feeling until now.

Song Jia walked up to him in a dark blue, sweetheart neck, sleeveless gown. The fabric used to make the entire floor-length gown was a delicate, lace cloth, that hugged her at all the right curves and dips on her upper body and then got spread into an A-line barbie skirt at the bottom. To give a glimmery touch to the dress, small crystallized stones were tucked at the lace cloth in an indisciplined manner, fewer at the top and their number increasing as they reached the hem of the skirt. At the waistline, to create an additional layer, a neatly pleated satin cloth in the same shade of blue, which was long enough to meet the hemline of the dress was wrapped around it, leaving a few inches at the front of the skirt uncovered. The plain cloth was beautifully complementing the shimmering silver stones tucked at the skirt, that were now reflecting the light from the lanterns floating in the sky.

Her hair was pulled into a low bun secured at the ride side and her dress was paired with blue stilletoes, minimalistic make-up and a pair of teardrop-shaped diamond earrings to complete her look.

Taking a single step at a time, she approached him, finally standing in front of the man that had successfully managed to tug the strings of her heart for the second time. The smile on her face right now was a blend of giddiness, and anxiousness at the same time, but the happiness that beamed from her hazel-green eyes was beyond compare.

The eyes of the two love birds met and for a brief period of time, neither of them spoke anything, not like they even needed words to express their emotions right now.

His dark brown eyes were sparkling with joy that was easy to tell from the curve of his lips, which was a rare sight, maybe even exclusive for her, while her hazel ones looked sometimes at him and for small intervals in between moved to the floor as a shy feeling seeped inside her.
